The check engine light is a notification that the computer has detected a problem. You need to connect a diagnostic scanner to the vehicle and see what the code is saying.
Why does your car stall when accelerating between 25mph an 40mph?
A car will stall when accelerating between 25 and 40 miles per hour due to a vacuum leak. When the cars computer cannot properly read the how much fuel to inject due to erratic air ratios the engine is prone to stall at random times.

What tool is used to get a stripped spark plug out?
Did you strip the actual plug is rounded off or did you strip the plug threads? If you stripped the plug itself and can get to it use vise grips. If you cannot get to the plug then go to your local parts store and tell then what happened. I know Snap On makes a special socket to remove rounded off bolts and spark plugs. Now if you actually stripped the spark plug threads then you may be able to just chase the old threads with a tap and clean them up enough that you can insert a new plug. Use anti-sieze compound and do not over tighten. 13 ft/lbs and no more. If that is not possible you will have to purchase a Helicoil. You local parts store can sell you the correct size and tell you how to use it.
it could be the catallatic converter is clogged id just cut it off a new one ain't cheap but don't get pulled over youll get a big fine
Contrablue Adds:
Your symptom can also be caused by problems with the fuel system, emission control sensors, servos, or controls, or the engine management computer. You or a mechanic should try to obtain the "diagnostic code" from the engine management computer. This code could very well identify the precise problem.
Has this truck had a cam sensor recall done. check oil level and when the last time it was changed if problem is not found will need to have vehicle checked out.
Will low oil stop an Infiniti J30 from starting?
Not unless the engine has a low oil shutdown system. Which I have never seen on a car or truck.
Why does the car cut off under heavy acceleration?
Usually a lack of spark or fuel would cause this. Most common is a coil pack issue. (Thats where I would look first).
There are many reasons. How is your battery life?
Why 2001 Chrysler sebring dies at stop stop signs?
Could be the "Torque Converter Lock-up" Solenoid sticking in the lock position.
Why does my car die when I put it in reverse?
Sometimes the torquconverter can fail causing the engin to stall. In reverse it lock in full torqu. In fwd gears it slips. This is only one idea.
What will make a car cut off but start right back up?
Maybe intermittent ignition. But more than likely it's a sensor. Possibly an o2 sensor. I've also heard of the EGR doing this too.
Where is the fuel cutoff switch on a 2005 pt cruiser?
Chrysler products do not use inertia/reset switches.
Well, I am definitely not a mechanic but I can share my experience in hopes it may help. My 1996 Chevy Cavalier engine would stall frequently but then re-start after a minute or 2, only to stall again a few min later. The mechanics put it on the diagnostic machine to no avail. They then began replacing parts, wires & everything they could think of that would cause this problem without success. I replaced the gas cap & haven't had a stall since. The car runs like a charm. I don't know if thiswill help but my advice, for any auto problem, is to start looking for the small things. Hi .. I own a 91 buick regal custom and I bought it from my father in law for $1 because of the same problem ... he rebuilt the top half of the engine tring to fix the problem ...when I first started it .. i knew .... you have to keep your foot on the gas and the brake to keep it running at a light .... its the Cat ... cut about one inch into your exsust pipe between the cat and the engine ...and she will never stall ..... its gonna be loud but .. if you have $60 you can put a new one on ....... the cats in buicks overheat and jam up or somthin... but it puts to much back presure on the engine and without having the gas pressed it won't hold idle .... so cut it and yes let it run VERY low on fuel and unscrew the gas cap .. if it doesnt make a presure sound like breathing in .... it needs a new cap too ... I have a 1989 Buick Regal and have a similar problem. When the car gets hot it has a rough idle and stalls mostly when in drive and stopped. If i put it in neutral won't stall but idles rough. I have replaced cat, several fuel injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs and wires and many other things in past being that it has 172000 miles. I still have the problem.
Why would a 1994 Chevy lumina apv sputter and stalls when you step on the gas?
It could be the gas. If the gas in the tank is the type that is made by corn (Ethanol) it goes bad after awhile. Other possible solutions are; The timing could be out of alignment The PCV system could be clogged. (The PCV system lets the crankcase breathe easier) There is a additive called Sea foam. Seafoam is a "run-through" type carb/fuel system cleaner. It has the added benefits of removing carbon deposits in the head (if used in high concentration) and cleaning out sludge in the crank case if added to the oil. There's instructions on the can for different treatments. It's only available in the USA. With engine warm, slowly pour 1/3 to 1/2 pint through carburetor or throttle body throat. (If vehicle is port injected slowly pour SEA FOAM through direct manifold vacuum line that will feed all cylinders, possible sources are P.C.V. valve or brake booster line.) This will pull SEA FOAM down on top of the pistons and to the back of the intake valves to dissolve carbon. Turn ignition off. Restart engine after 5 minutes. If severe carbon build up is apparent, use more Sea Foam as previously directed. Make sure exhaust is well ventilated when using Sea Foam in these various ways as fumes will be extreme for a short time. Pour 1/3 to 1/2 pint into oil crank case to clean rings, lifters, dirty parts and remove moisture. Pour 1/3 to 1 full pint into fuel tank to clean injectors, carburetor jets, fuel lines and remove moisture. Immediate Results: Smoother idle, increased R.P.M.'s better throttle response and improved performance. See label on can for detailed results for use in each area. sounds like you have a faulty temperature sensor or oil sender, retrieve the codes in the computer one of them may give you a hint of what is malfunctioning, before you say the check engine light is not on, the computer could have soft codes which do not set a CEL only hard codes set the CEL, also if you have lost battery power the codes soft or hard will have been lost. "CEL = check engine light", also when the car says check gauges try to see if any are reading hot or high/low oil pressure, over charging or undercharging etc, etc hope this helps also i think on your car you can cycle the key on off on off on off on which should set the computer to start blinking the CEL count each blink they will come in sets of 2 for instance 1 blink long pause then 2 blink close together would be code 12 or 5 blinks then a long pause then 5 more blinks would be 55 end of diagnostics
I read the following on the web:
"My 89 went through the same thing. You will probably also notice that
your tach goes to zero. This is all symptomatic of the ignition module failing."
I have replaced the part and this has fixed the problem.
Why might a car stall shortly after the oil and battery light came on and not start again?
It could be the alternater.
AnswerSome cars have a safety switch that shuts the engine off when the oilpressure is to low, but if those lights came on when the car stalled it might be because the lights on the instrument panel that turns on when you start the car usually turns on when it stalls. How can you get a 97 Ford Escort 1.8 Si to stop cutting out when the engine is cold?
a temperature sensor could be faulty...i have a 1994 legacy and i had the same problem...i replaced the temperature gage sensor and i have no more problems.
Ford mustang 302 car starts hesitating when i punch the accelerator at high speeds?
Its most likely your fuel system, your engine isn't getting all the fuel it needs.. if its not that, then I would bet on electrical system, alternator or battery. Id start out by cleaning out the fuel system since it wont cost you anything (except maybe fuel additives), and putting on a battery charger, and see where you are from there. After that, I would check the alternator at autozone cause they will do it for free. Otherwise its probably going to be your fuel pump not putting out enough fuel.
-- Also want to check your air filter to make sure your engine is getting all the proper air from the intake.
Answerdon't punch accelerator. sounds like u need new accelerator pump
