How do i replace a Vectra 17td starter motor 17td 1998?
very simple to replace the starter on this engine, first disconnect the battery then after jacking the car up (easier from underneath ) locate the startermotor it is just under the manifold bolted to the gearbox it is around the size of a coke can. unbolt the three bolts and disconnect the two wires going to the starter the bigger one being the live feed from the battery replace starter with new one three bolts back in ,wires connected, battery back on job done good luck
Your 96 camaro z28 won't start because of lack of spark?
96' z28 won't start because lack of spark. Could it be crankshaft position sensor? I just replaced distributor.
It is in the gas tank, you will have to remove fuel tank to service the pump.
Fuel pressure should be 60 to 66 PSI. If you are sure that you have 58 LBS Then the engine won't start. And it will do what you are saying it's doing.
It has got to have 60 LBS to start on it's own. NEED to replace fuel pump and filter.
You can check it this way if you want. After it has set for a few hours are over night.
when you go to start it next time. Just turn the key on, wait 3 seconds then turn it off. wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on again for 3 seconds. then back off for 10 seconds. repeat same steps 2 more times. After the last time turn key off wait 20 seconds, then see if engine will start on it's own. Either way Im sure you need a pump.
Why would a 1995 dodge ram 2500 sometimes wont start other times its fine?

You need to charge your battery or get a jump. Replace the battery or have it checked because it is dead.
If my 2001 Cadillac DHS sometimes won't start and idle or just dies sometimes what is causing this?
If a 2001 Cadillac DHS sometimes won\'t start, becomes idle or just dies it\'s probably a problem with the gear box.
What is wrong when engine spins but won't start 89 Chevrolet Celebrity?
It's either fuel, spark or compression. If the engine has all 3, in the proper order and quantity, it WILL run.
So start by checking the easiest first; get a can of starting fluid, remove the air filter from the throttle body and have a helper try to start the engine. As soon as you hear the starter engage, start spraying the starting fluid into the air intake.
As soon as the engine starts (or when the helper stops attempting to start the engine), stop spraying the fluid.
If the engine started, you have a fuel delivery problem. Check the fuel pump, injector, fuel filter, fuel pump fuse... all that.
If the engine didn't try to start, run a compression test. If you have low or no compression, rebuild the engine.
If the compression is OK, check the spark. Lay a sparkplug on some GROUNDED metal part of the engine and connect a sparkplug wire to it. Have the helper try to start the engine again while you're watching the sparkplug. You should have a strong spark at the plug. If you get no spark or if you have a weak spark, that's your problem.
its the starter it happened to me too i replaced and now its fine
Fuel Filter Removal & Installation 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure. 3. Raise and safely support the vehicle securely on jack stands. 4. Remove the fitting safely clips by gently prying them off. Usually they are held to the fuel lines by small retaining straps, however take care not to lose them. 5. Insert fuel line disconnect toll T90T-9550-S into the quick-connect fittings on the fuel lines. 6. Push the tool into the spring lock coupling and release the garter spring and separate the fitting. Twisting the line sometimes aid in releasing stubborn connections. *** Caution *** Fuel will most likely run out of the line after it is removed from the filter. 7. Repeat the procedure for the other fuel line. 8. Grasp the fuel filter and carefully pull it straight out of the retaining clamp. To Install; 9. Push the filter into the retaining clamp aligning the front lip on the filter into the groove. 10. Attach the fuel lines to the filter until an audible click is heard from the connection. Sometimes the click is very quiet, so test the fitting by gently pulling on the line to see if it comes loose. 11. Attach the fitting safety clips by snapping hem into place over the fittings. 12. Lower the vehicle. 13. Connect the negative battery cable. 14. Start the vehicle and check the filter and lines for leaks.
Your car needs a bypass. All GMs from the mid-nineties up have what they call a passlock system. The only way to get around that is a bypass, if your getting a directed electronics bypass, then its most likely going to be the XK01. On older cars in the early nineties, all they need is a certan resistance, but if your key doesnt have a little black piece below the key head, you WILL need a bypass. Well if this car is a newer Sunfire then it may have a chip in the key which requires a certain resistance on the immobilizer wire. If this resistance is not seen by the car then the car shuts down the fuel pump. If this is not a year with a chip in the key then it may be the fact that the remote starter is not seeing tach anymore or that one of the ignition wires that was wired up is not connected as well anymore
An overload of electricity. Fuses are intended to be the weak link in case of an overload so they can be easily replaced. Otherwise the break would occur elsewhere and be more difficult to fix, and may even cause a fire.
Fuses serve one purpose and one purpose only. They are there to protect the wiring from overload. An overload without the fuse blowing will cause a fire.
1992 Mercedes Benz 300 E ran out of gas wont start now?
Pull air filter housing. Spray a little starting fluid in carburetor and start immediately. If it runs for a few seconds and dies again, you might have a fuel pump issue.
What would make a car die when stopping after cleaning the battery connections?
I hope you did not remove a battery post while the engine was running (don't do it)? If so, it may cause damage to your alternator, and it will short out your ignition in the engine (engine stops). If there is no damage, it should work after reconnecting the battery posts. If you didn't do the above situation, I would check for a loose connection on the terminal or a corroded/broken cable. Check the ignition module in the distributor. Potentially it is failing when heated. Once the ignition module cools, it may fire for a while. Check for spark when this happens. If so it usually is the module or the coil .... either is usually less than 50 bucks. When the car dies look at the tachometer, if it stays at zero, you've got no ingnition signal. Some autoparts stores can check this part for you.
also have to add i dont know if something is drawing the juice overnight my buddy said it may be a bad ground but idk i put a portable jump starter on it in the morning and it starts fine just the battery is being drawn down overnight by something
according to ehow.com there is a resistor built into the key and if the value of the resistor in combination with the other ones in your ignition do not match what is stored in your cars database the system will reject the key.
Passkey III is not resistor-based. There is a rfid (radio-frequency id) chip in the black plastic head of the key. When the key is turned to start, the exciter coils in the lock cylinder housing fire the id chip in the key, the theft-deterrent module reads the rf signal and sends a password to the PCM - if the key is recognised the PCM turns the starter and/or fuel pump on and the car starts. If the key is unrecognised or the ignition cylinder is turned without a key inserted (no rfid communication to theft deterrnet module) the PCM disables the starter and/or fuel pump.
How do you tell if its the timing chain on a 2002 Chevy Malibu is the reason the car won't start?
Run a compression test. If compression in all cylinders is low, it's probably the timing chain.
Check to see if any of the codes came back. Typically, if something is wrong that caused a code, it won't go away until the problem is resolved.
Connect a code scanner to see what it can detect.
