First make sure that this battery has a charge. Check its volts. Then if the battery is good, make sure the conectionns are clean. Then clean the connection to the starter relay ( solenoid ) just beside the battery. Then if needed, clean the conx. at the starter. If all the conx. are good, and still no start, jump the positive battery conx. at the starter relay to one of the small plug in conx. If the starter engages, then possible bad ign. switch. Hope something works. Good luck.
More info. What kind of car ?
Why won't the key go to lock position?
Sometimes you have to shimmy the steering wheel back and forth while trying to put the ignition to lock position. Many vehicles do this.
Why 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo wont start after serpentine belt has been replaced?
Take your Serpentine belt back off. Try to start the car now. If it starts, shut it off quickly. Spin all the pulleys under the hood, power steering, alternator, AC, idler, tensioner. See if they all spin. If one doesnt, it probly needs to be replaced.
What can cause the engine oil to overflow onto the spark plugs of a car engine?
possible bad valve guides or blown head gasket possible bad valve guides or blown headgasket
What do i check on 1985 grand marquis if turns over but wont start have power to coil but no spark?
i am a land rover master tech, the first thing to do is make shure you have a good battery.test the fuel pressure and if there is no fuel pressure the fuel pump will take out the crank sensor leavig vehicle with no spark. so if you have good fuel pressure and no spark it sound like your crank sensor is bad.common problem. i hope i was able to help you.
Where is the starter motor located on frontera 2197cc?
By frontera do you mean Suzuki Fortera? This is a product of Daewoo Division of General Motors Corporation. It's a real oddball here, less common than most Ferrari's in my (ghetto) neighborhood, but I'd expect it's near the flywheel somewhere. Expect to see a Denso starter with 3 mounting bolts.
So which is it? Carb or Throttle Body?
Throttle body is a single (sometimes 2) electronic fuel injectors mounted in a carburetor LOOKING device that sits on the intake manifold. A flooding throttle body injector system is caused by faulty electrical to the injector or more likely a sticking injector. If the problem isn't too severe yet, use some injector cleaner before you spend a lot of money.
If it's a CARBURETOR, you have a sticking needle & seat or a damaged float inside the float bowl. It's a relatively simple job to rebuild the carburetor but if you have never done it before, you might want to just replace your carb with a rebuilt one.
A popping sounds could be a few things. I would first check the battery terminals for corrosion. Clean them off good, and then check out bigger things from there. With cars you always start with the simple answers, and go from there. That way you save yourself time and money. The next thing that I would check is the starter, ignition wires, ignition, etc...
If engine doesn't turn over is timing off?
Short answer: no If the timing is off the engine should turn over and probably even start, but run poorly, unless the timing belt or chain has broken in which case the engine would have immediately stopped working (and possibly seriously damaged itself) If the engine came to an abrupt stop (but the timing chain or belt is intact) and now won't turn over it may have seized (welded a piston to the block from overheating) due to a lack of oil. If the engine won't turn over at all, but ran fine before, the most likely problem is a dead battery or the starter solenoid has failed. First check that the battery terminals are making good contact and are not corroded if that's all good then get the battery tested, most auto parts stores will do this for you for free. If the battery is good reinstall it and stand by the front (or where ever the engine is) with the hood open while someone tries to start it, you should hear a click (that's the solenoid) if there is no click check the fuses. If the fuses are good and there was no click it's probably the solenoid. If there was a click and no action the problem is probably the starter motor.
Your 96' Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L wont start after you bought a new battery What the heck is the problem?
try checking your engine coil, you can have it tested at an auto parts store. not sure where it's located on your vehicle but if you have the book on it it should tell you. it should only be a couple of bolts to take it off. if that's not getting power or not putting out power your car won't start.
Can keys be replaced if you lost the keys to your car to start the car on a 1999 Buick Regal?
You will need to take proof of ownership or registration to a buick dealer, along with the vin number, but they should be able to get it off the registration.
Now If the car has ever had the ignition replaced it might not work.
I acutally lost the keys to my Avalon in a drunkin stuper, which was a good thing, and had to got to the dealership and do this
Water in the fuel filter, or possibly a fuel pump going bad. I would check the filter first.
It could be the fuel pump going bad. If you take out the fuel assembly underneath the back seat check the fuel filter sock to see if it is covered in a brown looking substance. If it is you will probably have to replace the gas tank. My91 festiva had a rusting gas tank after sitting for a few months and all the corrosion was getting sucked up and caught in the filter. After it got down to half a tank of gas it would loose power and start sputtering out until it would stall. I replaced the tank and it runs great now.
Why does a 2000 GMC Safari smells like gas but won't start?
Excessive fuel (way rich) or no spark. Check for spark first.
Need more info, does it turn over? Did you check to see if you have fuel getting to the engine (does the pump in the tank run when you turn the key)? Do you have spark (check with a inline spark tester $6.00)?
Installed a new motor in a truck but it turns over backwards and wont start why?
Is it a new starter motor? It may be incorrect.
Incorrect firing order, spark timing, cam timing, or intake valve operation.
1st thing to check is the spark. Remove a spark plug from the engine and plug it to the spark plug boot. Touch the plug to the cylinder head and crack the engine. Should see spark at the tip of the plug. If no spark, 2nd thing I would check is the crank position switch. It is located on the transaxle bell housing.
Can your ignition coil stop your car from running while driving?
The coil boosts the 12 volts from your battery to tens of thousands of volts for your spark plugs, if it stops working, the car stops working. It however is controlled by your engine control module using input from things like the crankshaft position sensor. Find the coil pack, there will be thick wires going to each cylinder and several small connectors. Make sure they are all tight, but not while the engine is running, those tens of thousands of volts will sting you.
check your wiring, if all your wiring is good then test your ignition relay, if its not the starter, not the battery, and not the wiring there's only one thing left. Good Luck with the repair
2000 Malibu anti-theft light is on car will not start Put used ingnition switch.?
If its the same as my 2001 malibu, you turn the key to the on position leave it on for about 10 mins. When the security light goes off turn the key to off. You should then be able to start the engine normally. Its the worst system ever devised.
1st check your air flow sensor, then the fuel pump.
It might be your module, because I too have a 95 Buick Riviera Supercharger, and I just recently replaced my battery, alternator, starter and other misc items. I was driving my car one day and it died, and would not start. I ended up getting the car towed, and my mechanic ran a few test, then he hooked up a used module, and the car started fine. My car was cranking and turning over, it just wasn't starting. You might want to also have your fuel pumped checked, as well as your crank shaft and sensor. Hopefully this helps.
you cant the imobiliser is programmed in the ecu, take it to a vaux dealer
