Where is the starter located on a 2000 Hyundai accent?
You can change the starter in ANY front drive cxar from up above, with no problem, you just have to take out the air box assembly and work at it from both sides.
2002 Dodge Intrepid will not start?
Needing Far more information than that... like did you turn the key? is there gas in the car, is the battery charged, when does it do this, what sounds or symptoms are going on when it doesn't start. Give us something to work with and someone may have a helpful answer
The starter was hit with a wrench and turned over for a second now car wont start why?
It is very likely that you have a stuck starter solenoid. That's the part that moves the starter's worm gear forward, so as to engage with the flywheel, so that the starter motor can turn your engine over and start it up. Once the engine starts, and you release the ignition key, the worm gear retracts back into the solenoid until it is needed again. Over the course of time, these solenoids become sticky, and refuse to move forward and engage the flywheel. Fortunately, there is an easy test for this problem, and it has never failed me. goes as follows;
Set the emergency brake, and put the tranny in neutral. If it's an automatic, put it in Park. Either way, chock the wheels. This is very important . You'll see why a little latter.
Crawl under neath the car with a responsible adult at the wheel.
use a heavy wrench, such as a large adjustable.
Have your helper sit in the car, holding the ignition key all the way over , in the start position.
From underneath the car, use your big wrench and bang on the solenoid. (It's the smaller part that is attached to the side of the starter motor.) Ya don't wanna dent it, Just give it some good whacks. This alone just might free up the piston on the inside of the solenoid, and at that point, your engine just might start. If not, then start to bang on the starter itself, and I mean give er a bunch of pretty good wacks ! I know sounds entirely like a cave man tactic, but it works. Keep in mind that your partner is still holding the key over, so if you smell anything burning, or see smoke, tell your partner to release the key, then wait a while and then try it again. You might wanna give it a rest every five minutes or so, to let things cool down. I once spent all but 20 minutes under a car before she finally fired up. Your partner should understand that if the motor begins to turn over, he or she should not let off of the key until the vehicle actually starts, and if it does, don't shut it off until you go out and buy a new starter motor. ( In the old days we could just buy the solenoid, but no more. You'll need to buy a new starter with the solenoid already attached. Leave the car running at the auto parts store, and be careful to not stall the engine on the way home.
At that point, things will be easier. Disconnect the battery. Unbolt the starter, and drop it to the ground, but save it, because you might be able to get money for it at the auto parts store. (Called a "core exchange") Bolt the new starter in, reconnect the wires, and then reconnect the battery. Problem should be solved. Or, you could just park on a hill where ever you go.. :) It it was me, I'd get a hew starter.
Is it hard to change a distributor in a Nissan Pathfinder?
A distributor is not hard to change as long as you follow some simple rules: (1) Set number one piston at Top Dead Center (TDC) before starting the job. (2) Make marks on the distributor and the engine so you will be able to match the two marks when re-installing the distributor. (3) DO NOT crank or manually rotate the engine while the distributor is out. The rest of the job is removing nuts or bolt and wires in order to pull the distributor out. NOTE: When pulling out and when re-installing the distributor, you will have to rotate it somewhat - just follow the "feel" as you go. PS: You don't want to forget the order of the plug wires to the distributor - it might be a good idea to tape and mark the wires as you pull them. You also want to observe which direction the rotor is pointing before you remove the distributor (an added precaution).
Why wont my Ford transit start I left the key in the ignition?
Is your Ford Transit not starting? Do you try to turn the key in the ignition, and nothing happens? We know the sinking feeling in your gut you are experiencing now.
Several problems result in a Ford Transit's engine not working. Any of the following issues may be the reason your van isn't working. Let's take a look at these problems, so you can troubleshoot the issue and know what to do next.
a lot of factors to consider... will the engine rotate at all?
Why will the Car take a jump but wont stay running?
Check the alternator. If you can't get the vehicle to a shop that will check it for you, put a charger on the battery for a while then using a volt meter, see what the voltage output is after you start the engine.
Your alternator should be able to maintain somewhere between 13 and 14 VDC to the battery when the engine is slightly above an idle. Anything below 12V indicates that the alternator is done.
Where is the starter in a '91 Lincoln Continental 3.8L?
Just below left hand (front of engine compartment) cylinder head.Easiest to access from underneath.Follow the thick red cable at the battery positive post, downward to where it attaches to the starter.
VW IT HAS TO DO WITH THE SURCURTY SYSTEM YOU COULD STOP BY BEST BUY THE INSTALL SHOP THEY CAN PRINT OUT WIREING DIAG. FOR YOU HOPE THIS HELPS .mnytmslst
Your electrical elements are going up and you need new ones.. same problem happened to me!
How can you tell if your engine timing is 180 degrees off without looking at timing gears?
Look at the distributor and make a mark on the housing where the #1 cylinder connects. Then pull the distributor cap. The mark is so you know where #1 is with the cap off.
Next, bring #1 cylinder to top dead center on the compression stroke. The rotor should be pointing at the mark you made.
If you need directions on how to get #1 to TDC on the compression stroke - another topic..
What cause a 1996 Cherokee Jeep shut down while driving?
Maybe the computer,is happening with my 98,Fuel system ok ,batt ok.
Your car is acting like its out of gas but its not what could be wrong?
Possibly clogged fuel filter or fuel pump that is failing. Replace the fuel filter before proceeding.
A. Take it for a diagnotic test.
Get a standard 12v test light. Ground the clip and verify the ground by touching the positive battery terminal with the probe end. With the ignition switch turned to the run position, starting with the larger main fuse links use the probe to verify power on both sides of the fuses.

91 accord SE 114k miles car won't start please help?
If car won't start, either battery is dead, or starter has failed, or fuel is bad, or fuel line is blocked, or spark plug has no spark. Cannot diagnose further without more details about the symptoms, such as EXACTLY what happens when you try to start it - what lights light up? Do headlights work at normal full brightness? Does enging make any clicking sound? Does engine turn over?
Can you bump start a car with a dead battery?
Do you mean "jump start"? If so, yes- it requires a car with a good battery, and a set of jumper cables- connected the RIGHT way between the two vehicles. With older vehicle, it was possible to "push start" the car with the dead battery- but with modern electronics, and a completely dead battery, will not work.
Would a loose distributor cause your car to not start?
Yes, a loose distributor can rotate so that the ignition timing for the engine is lost.
It is very possibly the ignition switch but there are certainly other possibilities as well. In any case, you'll need to learn some electrical diagnostic skills. The ignition switch appears faulty.

1996 Chevy Tahoe 1500 wont start not the battery?
Seized Engine? Flat spot on starter? Bad Starter solenoid? Loose or corroded battery cable? Bad ignition switch? Bad neutral or clutch safety switch?
Unfortuneately the most likely (only) problem is the ignition switch shorted internally If you look at the wires going into the switch you will most likely see that a black wire is melted This is a ground wire for the switch All the insulation may be bubbled or melted right off You need a switch and that wire replaced if you see this. Either way i think you need a switch
If you're certain the battery is up, and the engine runs normally after you bypass the solenoid, you need to find out which part has failed. Check the solenoid first, then the keyswitch, and finally make sure the neutral lockout is functioning properly.
