Can I damage my car by using it to jump start another car?
If you hook up the cables right (positive to positive, negative to negative) you should not do any damage. If you hook the cables up wrong, you risk damaging your cars electronics.
Why would a '95 Deville not start when putting starting fluid in the throttle body?
timeing is off,no spark(power to the plugs but not threw them),cracked distrib.cap.bad stator in distrib. It is highly recommended that starting fluid (ether) never be used in throtle body gasoline engines unless one is very highly quaified in engine maintenance proceedures. Ether is a very volitile flamable liquid. Using it can cause serious engine damage not to mention bodily harm. Before using any type of starting liquids check to make sure there voltage flowing between the spark plug wires and the spark plugs. If there is no voltage there or the voltage reads much below 16k volts there simply may not be enough to overcome the resistance of the resistor type spark plugs that are used in all cars today. Most newer cars since the early 1980s have aluminum cylinder heads. Using starting fluids can cause serious damage to aluminum cylinder heads. There are a whole aray of electrical reasons that an engine does not start with or without starting fluid. ALL these potential reason should be checked before even thinking about using any type of starting fluid.
Where is the starter usually located on a vehicle?
Since this is such a generalized question, the answer will also be so. Usually the starter is located on the lower rear of the engine block. Since many vehicles today utilize "transverse," or crosswise mounted engines, one might ask the question, what is the rear of the engine. That is the end which attaches to the "bell housing" and transmission, and is opposite to the end on which the water pump, alternator, belts, etc. are mounted. To assist in identifying the starter, they are generally cylindrical in shape, and depending on the engine size, starters vary in diameter from about three inches to about eight inches. Their length varies from about six or eight inches to about ten or twelve inches. Also, many starters will have a "starter SOLENOID" mounted on top. The starter solenoid will also be cylindrical in shape, but smaller than the starter itself. j3h.
Why will engine only start when you manually pour gas down into the carburetor?
Almost always the fuel pump. Slight chance of the injector, but normally the fuel pump.
Check for a vacuum leak somewhere. It might just be a cracked rubber vacuum line. Try short sprays of starting fluid at or near a suspected vacuum leak. You'll hear the engine idle speed change immediately if you find a leak.
Is Nissan Armada vehicle crank over but won't start i have a code p 0340?

Infiniti i30 has new battery and still wont start?
I had the identical problem with my 96 I30 after letting it sit for a year and after recharging the battery. I have 343,600 miles on mine and I'm the original and only owner. I downloaded the schematic diagrams for the electrical system. I took out fuse #17 (10 Amp) which basically shut down the anti-theft (start) and it still didn't start. After checking that fuse #33 (7.5 Amp) was good, I replaced the starter (very first one) and it's working fine. The only other thing it could be is the inhibitor switch (Park or Neutral switch) so try both positions and if it doesn't start in either Park or Neutral, it's probably the starter. Bought the starter brand new on Ebay for $75 delivered!

What order do the spark plugs go on a 92 Chevy lumina 3.1 6-cylinder euro?
See the attached link for the firing order for the 1993 model, 1992 is probably the same.
What brand is the car?
Why would a car's steering start vibrating at speeds over 70 MPH?
Have the tires checked for being round. You can balance a square block but it won't roll smoothly.
It would be your ignition lock not cathing and needs to be replaced.
I have 90 acura legend L. Problem is bad ignition switch. They are about
$70 at autozone.
Why does my 1994 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer turn over but will not start?
Mine does the same thing. It will turn over and over and may or may not start. It always will eventually start, but if it hasn't cranked after 10-12 seconds of metal on metal turn over, I wait about 10-15 seconds and it fires right off. I have no idea, have checked vapor lock, starter, battery, fuel pump, etc. If you get any answers, email hump860@charter.net. Good luck.
I was having the same problem. But, come to find out it was the ECM Processor which is located behind the parking break. You will have to remove the steering column to get to it. The processor may have shorted out because i had checked the relay voltage and got 12 volts. But, then checked the inertia switch which is located behind the passenger kick panel and the voltage was only half so that told me that there was something wrong in the wiring before it gets to the inertia switch ( shut off switch).
So if you are having problems getting it to start have your EEC tested. It may be faulting out or may have a short in it.
i had the same problem. i have a two door 97 Toyota tercel with auto transmission. it was a fuse for the ful injector. there was an extra one in the black fuse box under the hood. try this
I don't know what year your car is, but a common problem with moisture is the spark plug wires. Replace them with new ones.
Your 86 300zx non turbo starts for like 3 sec then turns off?
The problem in your computer. When the car first starts up the ECU is in open loop mode and everything works(non-controlled by the ecu). Then it goes in to closed-loop mode with everthing being monitored by the ECU. The closed loop circuit of ECU has shorted out. I had the same problem with my 86. To verify this, hook up a inline fuel pressure guage after the fuel filter on the right inner fender well, when you start the car up, have someone watch the fuel pressure and see if it goes away and the cars dies at the same time. If it does the ECU is your problem.
The computer maybe fubar(no good)? have you checked the plug wires distributor cap and rotor? could be the distributor its self or possably the pick up coil
Sounds like a faulty fuel pump. The fuel filter could also be plugged up.
AS LONG AS THERE IS ENOUGH POWER IN BATTERY TO SUPPLY A SPARK TO THE ENGINE
VIA THE DISTRIBUTOR IT WILL RUN FOR A WHILE (DONT DRIVE IT IN THE DARK THOUGH IT USE ALL THE POWER IN THE BATTERY)
All the alternator does is to keep the battery charged up
It depends on what you mean by "it won't start." Some additional questions/answers will help narrow down the problem. Does the starter crank the engine? Is it out of gas? (I had a vehicle whose fuel sensor failed in the FULL position, so we drove it until it ran out of gas but the gauge said it was full. I didn't realize it until we dropped the gas tank and it was extremely light-weight.) Is the fuel pump bad? (This can be checked by removing the fuel line at the engine, feeding the line into a container to catch the gas, and cranking for a brief instant; if fuel comes out, the pump is probably OK.) Various sensors, if bad, will also prevent starting. One notorious sensor for causing this problem on VW's is the crank position sensor. Typically when this sensor is going bad, the engine will stall soon after reaching normal operating temperature, or you will be unable to re-start the engine if the engine is still hot; for example, you take a trip to the store, and you come back out and it won't start. Let the engine cool down, and it starts promptly. If this is the case, try replacing that sensor.
What is wrong with my 1988 Chevy Astro van that i changed the fuel pump on but it still won't start?
I had same issue, replaced fuel pressure regulator on fuel rail under intake cover. Starts and runs great now. Scott
check your timing belt
I had a Kia Sportage that needed a key.It cost me about a hundred and twenty five bucks for him to do it.I guess it depends where you live. This was in Connecticut.I hope this gives you a round about figure.Good luck!
The parts dealer at your model dealership can make a new key for $25.00 if you have your ownership paper work, vehicle Id numebr and and personal Id. The coded chip computer keys may well be high priced but there is no reason for that,
