Car Stereos and Speakers

I don't believe the Nubira needs a stereo code.

I had to call a dealer to get my code because most Nubira has a code. The main dealer is #1 Cochran in Pittsburgh, PA and their phone #(412)788-4444

It's intended to be connected directly to battery (12v) - not via ignition switching - to provide power to the head unit regardless of ignition switch state. It should be fused - 0.5 amp.

you need a small flat head screwdriver, a 10 millimeter socket (asmall extension helps), and if you want a small flat head screwdriver for removing all the little push clips.

I recomend you turn off the car completely with the key off the ignition. Front speakers can be accesed by pulling off the door panel in most cases and taking off a couple of screws holding the speakers onto the panel. The panel itself might be screwed onto the door using a screw around the opening handle and sometimes more screws towards the bottom. Be careful never to yank any wires as you pull the panels and speakers off the car! Rear speakers can be accessed from the rear seat towards the rear windshield and on some models from the trunk. The speakers are being held again by a couple of screws. Mostly, you cannot install bigger than factory size speakers because the fitment on the doors and the rear trunk area just will not let the larger speakers sit comfortably to where you can put the fastening screws back on. If you bridge a 2 channel 4 channel ect. you are taking the power from both channels as if it was a single channel amp.

After starting the car and turning the car off, remove the radio fuses. there are 2 of them ( I believe they are #7 and #31 refer to your manual). Start your car for a second your radio won't come on cause the fuses are pulled, turn the car right off , put the fuses back in. Start the car. The radio will initialize, let it cycle thru, then it should work.

I depends on "how" you are connecting them. If you connected the 4 ohm speakers in series (positive terminal of one to the negative terminal of the other). This will leave a negative terminal of one unconnected and a positive terminal of the other unconnected. then connect them in parallel (the unconnected positive terminal of the 4 ohm speakers to the positive terminal of the 8 ohm speaker and the unconnected negative terminal of the other 4 ohm speaker to the negative terminal of the 8 ohm speaker. This will produce an overall 4 ohm load for 1 channel (assuming you are connecting to a stereo)

Or if you are connecting to a stereo with two 8 ohm outputs. Connect the 8 ohm to one channel then connect the above mentioned series connected 4 ohm speakers to the other channel for a total load of 8 ohms on both channels.

Parallel connections will equal less than the individual speaker load. The formula for this is: R X R/R + R where R is ohms for each speaker ie. Two 8 ohm speakers in parallel would be 8 x 8 (64)/ 8 + 8 (16) which is 4 ohms.

Series connections you just add them together ie. Two 8 ohm speakers in series would be 8 + 8 or 16 ohms.

FYI. If you measure the speakers with an ohmmeter it will be less than what it says on the speakers.

Speakers are measured in "impedance" which takes into account "reactance". The resistance of the speaker coil will change slightly with different frequencies applied so an 8 ohm speaker may read as 5-7 ohms (more or less) with an ohmmeter. A 4 ohm may read as low as 2.5 ohms on the same meter.

Some output transformers can handle half the ohms but it is always safer, as a general rule, to go "up" in speaker impedance without any damage. It's not wise to vary any with a system with solid state (transistor or IC) output coupling.

I replaced my 95. I pulled the front right wheel and inner wheel well (plastic). It is above that on a small bracket. You'll need to remove the special nut on top to lower the ant down. I used (carefully) a pair of vice grips....No problem job.

Call a plumber. Pay a plumber.

If the power has been disconnected, they need a code entered for them to work again. Contact suzuki dealer and ask for a default code. They will not give it to you over the phone, you may have to verify ownership.

To remove the radio the plastic dash panel surrounding the radio must be removed. Locate andremove two (2) Phillips screws at the top of the dash panel above the air conditioner controls.Pull out the ashtray. Insert one hand into the opening where the ashtray was located and pull theplastic dash panel until the lower part of the plastic dash panel begins to pull away from the maindash assembly. Continue to unsnap the plastic dash panel until it frees from the dash.You do not need to unplug the plastic connector attached to the cigarette lighter at the bottomrear of the plastic dash panel. There should be enough slack in the wiring to allow the plasticdash panel to be set off to the drivers side of the center console.The radio is secured to the dash with metalbrackets on the side of the radio. Locate andremove four (4) 8mm bolts / Phillips screws thatsecure the brackets to the dash.Pull the radio out of the dash. Unplug the antennacable from the rear of the radio. Unplug 2 plasticconnectors that are plugged into the rear of theradio. The radio can now be completely removedfrom the dash.
