youll need to take the door panel off, then unscrew the handle assembly and replace with a new handle ( junkyard?). screw that in then replace door panel.

I had the same problem in a Buick I had. It was caused by a problem with the computer, which had to be replaced. At least that's where I'd start looking. It causes a low constant drain on the battery.

wouldn't start at the computer more than likely something simple like a diode in the alternator or trunk light switch maybe hood light switch start with the cheaper things first

I've run into that problem also and when I checked, there was enough moisture from positive to negative posts to drain the battery. And check loose wires from and to the battery. Nothing? Put your car in the garage at night, turn off all the lights, let your eyes get accustomed to the dark and look under the hood for any evidence of any amount of current. I've done that and found the a couple of times.

The engine will smother down as if running out of fuel. When the fuel pump went out on my pickup, is just randomly quit. It worked fine one day, and when I went out to start it again, it would not start.

It's completely dependant on the maintenance. Good quality oil, regular changes and good quality filters are the first and most important, but if the engine overheats it can certainly affect the engine life. Keep the radiator clean, remove it periodically and have it properly serviced OUTSIDE of the vehicle. Make sure the Serpentine belt is periodically changed and don't let it get old enough to start developing severe cracking or dropping out. Keep the coolant clean and use pre-mix or mix concentrated with distilled water. Add water pump lube, replace the radiator and heater hoses whenever they start to bulge or get brittle. If you keep the engine maintained it can easily last over 300,000 miles or more. If it's been through rough times that number starts to drop rapidly.

The library might have a book available with all the specs... Be CERTAIN you've got the right specs, and don't over/under tighten anything... Dave

hei stands for high energy ignition and refers to the distributor. previous distributors used points and later distributors were controlled by the on-board computer.

Check fuel pressure in the engine bay with fuel pressure gauge. Should run at 55 psi at start-up, dropping to 3-10 psi at idle. If low fuel pressure, you need a new fuel pressure regulator.

It could also be that you need a new inline fuel filter; cheap easy fix.

It could also be deposit build-up in the EGR. How would you know? If car is warmed up and in the 'D' drive position while idling and it stalls.

Another quick check would be to purchase a GM OBD1 decoder ($40) and find out what engine flash code is turning on.

I suggest you do a quick and cheap maintenance check first before major repairs.

Actually, not terribly poor mileage. It really depends on if it is a automatic or a manual transmission, as well if it is equipped with a 350 or the more economical 305 or even 6 cylinder engine. If you have the 305 version with the MT, 17-18 mpg is the usual.

It might not be getting enough air. Check your air filter/air system in general.

it could be a temperature sensor there are 2 wires one goes to gauge and other to computer. The gauge can read right but be telling the computer that it is 0 degrees or less mine was -67 degrees and causing the truck to run rich.

The onboard computer constently moniters engine systems such as EFI, (electric fuel injection) from input of all of the sensors on the engine, ie; O2 sensor and automatically makes changes to the fuel & ignition system. Some vehicles have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator however the fuel pressure must be checked to see if it is within manufacturers specs. To answer your question there are no adjustments. If you are having a driveability problem then the vehicle needs to be diagnosed with a scan tool. This will show where the problem is. In most cases a malfunctioning sensor is the culprit.

It's in on the left side of the transmission, to the rear near where the driveshaft enters - has a 2-wire plug coming out of it.

If everything else seems alright w/ your car there's a chance the alternator may be on it's last leg. They get weaker w/ age and sometimes the load of the high-beams just uses so much juice that there;s not enough to run your ignition system. Also on the 86-91 fords the electrical at the light switch as well as at the alternator.connector tends to melt and cause short circuits. Either way I'd take it to a competent repair shop, one that hires ASE Certified Master Auto Technicians. IT could be something as simple as a faulty voltage regulator. I can't be more specific because I don't know what vehicle I'm working on.

The clutch mechanism that allows the bike to coast is broken. It requires special tools to replace, so unless you're an eager have a bike mechanic fix it for you. Tell him you need either a new freewheel or a new freehub body.

If no one has clipped the ends on the wire, the little ones have different size holes in them and will only go on the right terminals. I believe Chevy only uses the small terminal closest to the motor.
