Where is the crank shaft seal in a 2001 Tracker?

All engines have two crankshaft seals, one on the vibration dampener end and one on the output end. The seal on the vibration dampener end is called the front seal, the one on the output end is called the rear seal. Crankshaft seals often leak because of pressure buildup inside the crankshaft called "blowby". That usually occurs when the rings have collapsed or excessive carbon has built up inside the ring groove. Collapsed rings can be caused by overheating the engine. Excessive carbon buildup can be caused by failing to change the oil.

Where is the crankshaft position sensor on a 2000 Chevrolet tracker?

on a 2002 Chevy tracker, it's behind the flywheel

On my 2002 2.0 4X4 Tracker built 11/2001 the sensor is actually on the back of the overhead cam near the last fuel injector. Also the part that most stores provide is not correct for mine. There is no sensor behind my flywheel. Make if there is no wire going into the belhousing then you will not have one behind the flywheel as indicated by a previous answer. I'm not sure if any actually had it there. No mechanic I spoke to knew of one in that location.

In my case change out is 5-10 minutes with one 10mm bolt. Mine did not have the 6" tail on it many show simply a right angle to the connector no wire pigtail whatsoever.

Is it expensive to repair a leak in the brake fluid line on a 1992 Grand Marquis?

If the leak is in a brake hose, the cost would be about 25 dollars. If the leak is in a metal brake line, the best solution would be to get one from a junkyard. Do not put this repair off! The leak is going to get worse, and you will have no brakes!

If a rubber hose has a leak in it, replace it. Replace its opposite side companion at the same time. Costs will be from 25 to 40 bucks each plus fluid and time if you do it yourself. If you have ABS brakes and have run the system out of fluid, you HAVE to take the car to a mechanic that can work on ABS systems to have the system bled properly.

If you suspect that a metal line is to blame, the most likely place is going to be behind the fuel filter, just ahead of the driver's side rear wheel. This is a 3/16" line, and it CAN be patched with compression fittings, but I wouldn't recommend it. As for the cost? I really don't know, but if one of the rear metal lines is leaking, chances are the other is not far behind. Also, there are fuel return lines that run along with the rear metal brake lines. If you have a leak in the metal brake lines, your fuel lines are probably close also.

Replacing all of those lines can get quite expensive. Good luck.

Can you do anything to make your Geo Tracker safer on turns?

The only recommendation I can give you is to slow down for turns. Turning to fast or driving like it's a sports car is just asking for trouble. If you just take it easy on the turns, then the threat of flipping is pretty low. In fact, only one test said it was "easy to flip" and that was for a different car, the Suzuki Samurai which, despite looking similar, is a completely different car, and there is evidence (videos) that those tests were modified specifically to paint a bad picture, though Consumer Reports denies this.

Suzuki even filmed footage of them performing the turns necessary to just get the Samurai on two wheels. If your a casual/normal driver and not a crazy speed demon who wants to go to Nascar with their Geo, then you shouldn't be afraid of flipping that much. Be more afraid of windy days that you have long trips on highways, the Tracker is light and is easily pushed by crosswind.

Final word: Trackers are not that easy to flip as you have heard unless you drive it like a Metro or a Storm. Take it easy and don't push it. Remember, the Tracker only has seatbelts for safety (usually) so don't risk anything. The best way to impove any car in the turns is to lower the ride. Because if you lower the car you will lower the center of gravity, whitch in turns improves the handling. However you should lower the car the right way not the wrong way. EXAMPLES WRONG WAY: cut or heat the springs to lower the suspension RIGHT WAY: Buy aftermarket drop spindles and aftermarket lowering srings or struts

Where is the location of the cam sensor in a 1998 4 cylinder Chevy S-10 and how do you change it?

To the best of my knowledge a 98 2.2L 4-cyl does not have a cam sensor. It does however have a crank sensor and if you look at the lower crank pulley just to the back of the pulley and go around the pulley you should find the sensor mounted on a bracket. You should see what appears as a sprocket with widely spaced teeth on the engine side of the pulley. This "sprocket" so to speak is what the crank sensor "reads". I believe that the crank sensor is the only sensor used for engine timing. The 2.2 is an overhead cam engine design and a crank sensor wasn't used. I know this is the case for the 96 models, both 2.2L and 4.3L v-6 and the design has carried through current models to the best of my knowledge.

my 1996 hombre that's a s-10 clone with a 2.2 Chevy motor has a cam sensor i just had to replace it. the easy was is to take it to advanced or auto zone let them scan the computer for the fault code to tell you witch sensor it is. its location is on the bottom of the engine block passenger side. some say its easier if you take the tire off to access it.

How to clean a 2006 trailblazer idle air control valve?

The Trailblazer has an electronic throttle (drive by wire). There is no IAC valve, it is built into the throttle body. Remove and clean the entire throttle body.

How do you replace interior door handles on a 1994 Geo Tracker?

The door handle is held on by one Phillips screw. Remove it. Slide the door handle forward about 1/2 inch to release it. It will still be connected to the rod that opens the door. Behind the doorhandle where the handle connects to the rod is a white plastic retainer attached to the handle and clamped around the rod. Take a screwdriver and pry (it doesn't take much force) the white plastic retainer away from the handle. It will pop off of the rod and remain connected to the door handle. Lift the rod up. Installation is the reverse and easier once you see how it's made.

How do I remove the key. It is stuck. Chevrolet 2000 Tracker?

The Steering Column locks the wheel in place and when the steering wheel is locked you cannot turn the key... try turning the key with gentle force while turning the steering wheel back and forth.

Sparks plugs in 2004 cheverolet tracker?

Right on top of the engine you'll see the valve cover/"rocker box" right down the middle of it are four black plastic squares each held on by two screws with wires going to each one. These are the secondary coils (for some reason the Chevy guys decided to make a secondary coil for each plug instead of one for all. It's not traditional, but there are some benefits for doing it this way.) and the spark plugs are located directly beneath them. You'll need an socket extension and an actual 5/8" spark plug socket or a pair of long needle nose pliers to get the old plug out (they're a ways down in there.)

Why do head lights stay on when car is off?

Does the 2002 tracker have the LATCH system for car seats?

Answer for car seat latches (hopefully)Hi,

I'm not too sure about the 2002 tracker having car seat latches, but my 2000 tracker doesn't. Near the bottom of the back door however there are plastic caps on the molding. Pop these out and they reveal bolt holes. Your car seat should come with a bolt that matches these holes, and this is where you install the metal loop (that should have also come with your car seat) for the hook that is on the seat itself. If the 2002 does have a latch system, it may be under the carpet in the rear section. The carpet should pull out from under the molding to lift it up and then can be re-attached by using a butterknife to push the carpet back under the molding. Good luck!

How can you turn your headlights off in darkness?

I assume you are asking about later model S10's that have the automatic photo sensor that turns the headlights on automatically when it gets dark The only way to get the lights off in darkness is to PARK, turn off ignition, set parking brake, and then re-start engine. Once you release the parking brake, the lights will come on. and while driving switch the manual control to headlighs on, press the dome override button back to back about 4 times and a ding will then signal manual headlights. just make sure your headlights are on cuz i was playing one night and blacked out on the highway.. haha
