Take it to an independent garage. On some cars it is fairly simple to remove the lock cylinder and replace it (the ignition tumbler & keys for my 1989 cavalier was only $25; unfortunately, it is a long task to get it apart). If it is the ignition swith, same applies, on some cars it is quite simple. I found that the best advice I gto was from an auto wreckers (they know how to dismantle a variety of vehicles)

What is the firing order on a 1995 Chevy Tracker?
It is a Geo Tracker not Chevy Tracker. Firing order is 1-3-4-2
AnswerHI, The firing order is 1-3-4-2 and the distributor rotation is clockwise.. If you face the distributor cap as a clock, 1 is at seven o'clock, 3 is at 10 o'clock then 4 then 2. Steve H.How do you tuneup a 2001 Geo Tracker?
TUNE UP.
this is what us old guys call it.
but new guys cringe. (wimps) (will say you cant tune motor, jokers... all....)
we call it Service Points. see op guide in glove box, its free ask any dealer..etc.
the first missing fact is the motor.
the v6 dont have a distributor the 1.6L I4 does.
what we do is replace all the short lived parts in the system
and check the state of tune with a scan tool, or even 5 gas testing.
that is what a true PRO will do. ASE !
key parts to change depend on age, miles and if done last time correct.
60,000 miles.
1: spark plugs.
2: 1.6L spark wires.
3: DOHC, new COP BOOTS.
4: 1.6L new disty cap and rotor, use Bosch ,or NGK ,never fleabay junk."noname"
5: hoses, if over 10years old
6: belts if over 5.
7: filters, all.
8: front oxygen sensor if over 100k old. (miles)
i then check the STATE OF TUNE
i check for closed loop operation at idle and cruise.
and LTFT , (fuel trim) for bad readings, and correct them. (like air leaks)
that is my short answer. ASE. retired.
How do you turn off dr lights on 2004 gm tracker?
Pull the E-brake up just until it clicks once and holds, then key-on & start it. This will disable the auto running lights but you will get a brake warning light on the instrument panel to indicate the E-brake lever is engaged. If you only pull it up to the first click is is usually not enough to start actually engaing the brake drums but it will allow you to drive with the running lights off until the light sensor detects less than a factory set threshold of infrared light, indicating that it is after dusk, and it will engage the full bright headlights after about 30 seconds no matter what you do.
How do you fix the rear door of a 2001 Chevy Tracker that won't open?
We had the same problem with our 2002 tracker. The guy who takes care of our vehicles sprayed a silicant up into the door handle. It has worked fine since then.
My husband had to crawl through and remove the back panel. He disconnected the electronic portion and then WD40'd the crap out of the lock, which he says all the engineers that design these locks are...anyway, it has a lot of movable parts. the handle still stays in the up position after using it, but you can slide your thumb up in it now and gently pull it back down. Not a perfect fix, but we can use it when absolutely necessary. Bad design
What is the firing order for a 1990 Geo Tracker?
Go to Google.com and type in the words "1990 Geo Tracker firing order" and it will get you to a site that will tell you.
Open the hood and secure it in the raised position
• Disconnect and isolate the battery ground cable
• Wait 90 seconds for the air bag system back-up power supply to
discharge
• Remove the air bag fuse from the fuse panel located at the lower left
driver side of the instrument panel
• From under the driver side of the instrument panel, disconnect the
yellow air bag system contact coil electrical connector (Fig. 1) by
lifting up the connector locking lever
• Open the glove compartment
• Press in on the side of the glove compartment, then pull the glove
compartment downward
• Through the glove compartment opening, disconnect the yellow
passenger air bag module electrical connector (Fig. 2) by lifting up
the connector locking lever
• Remove the cabin air filter access panel door from the A/C and
heater unit through the glove compartment opening (Figs. 3 and 4)
• This service requires the replacement of two cabin air filter
elements
• Replace the two used cabin air filters with two new cabin air
filters (Fig. 5) ensuring that the filters are placed with air flow
markings in the correct direction
• Reverse the above procedures to reassemble the vehicle components
Answer 2Open Glovebox / Squeeze-in the sides to lower it fullyLooking into the compartment, a little left of center - you will see a sort of vertical strip with two tabs sticking out wowards you. This is the "L" shaped cover. It is a narrow strip - not some big thing.
ON TOP there is a locking tab. Lift up and pull the cover towards you. Lift it up and out. The bottom is down inside a little slot.
You will find the TWO filters exposed. Ours were VERY dirty, including leaves and dead bugs! I am ordering filters - probably from eBay.
Replace the filters (this first time all I could do was to use a paper-clip and compressed air to clean them out as best I could for now). There are arrows stamped on the ends of the filters, indicating the direction of air flow. REPLACE BOTH FILTERS as running with one or none will let all of that crud dirty-up your A/C system and also get into the vehicle with you.
BE CAREFUL not to poke around in there with a screwdriver or anything as you are underneath the airbag and its connectors. The above answer says to disconnect the battery, fuses and the airbag connectors - probably the usual "covering their butts" stuff. My brother and I did this without all of that and never touched or got close to the airbag components. Use your own judgment on this. Disconnect if you are clumsy as the airbag can cause serious injury or death.
A second tip for Trackers: The dome lights might go crazy on you or stay on all the time. Here's the fix - Lower the front dome light assembly. ON TOP of it you will see these two copper tabs that stick straight up and TOUCH THE METAL ROOF of the car at times! Use needlenose pliers to bend these down or sidecutters to nip them right off down low (what I did). Lights work perfectly. No more blinking, flashing, intermittent function or just staying on all the time. NOTE: Our 2001 Trackers domelight remains on for about 30 seconds or so after closing the doors. They do cut right off when starting up, or delay as mentioned earlier - and then shut off if you are leaving the vehicle and the engine is off. I thught I still had a light problem until I realized that this was an automatic function.
If your blower motor was working and then stops what could it be?
blower motor resistor---I'm about to replace mine and have replaced both my sister's Honda crv, and a buddy's Chevy Tahoe they all slowly lost one or more settings (high or low) and then eventually died
Why is a 1999 Tracker leaking oil?
Most likely suspect: Rear Main Seal,, pull motor to fix... but before ya do that, check other items that may be loose, cracked, etc.
How do you replace the drive belt on a 2000 Nissan Altima?
There are two belts on the 2000 Altima, the A/C compressor belt and the main belt. Remove the A/C belt first by loosening the nut in the middle of the idler pulley (the pulley below the compressor) and then loosening the tension bolt on the bottom of the idler pulley until enough slack is in the belt to pull it off. Remove the main belt by loosening the alternator which acts as an adjustable tensioner. Loosen the top and bottom bolts first then lossen the tension bolt until there is enough slack to remove the belt. To install new belts follow these instructions in reverse. Tighten the belts to about a 1/4" deflection and be sure to tighten all bolts. Notes: The lower dirt shield under the car may have to be removed first to gain access. Make sure to note the position of the belts through the pulleys before you remove the old ones. There may be a diagram under the hood of the belt route to use for a reference.
Do all rear brakes of Chevy Tracker lockup?
my 2002 never has ...I know there is a "height sensor-proportioning valve" located above the rear axle which should prevent the rear brakes from locking... when you brake the weight of your Tracker goes forward and the rear actually lifts... this device lessens the pressure to the rear brakes momentarily so they don't lock...
Where is the fuse box located in a 1999 chev tracker?
look under the dash driver side just above the cluch...that's where it is on my 98
Where is the iac valve on your 99 tracker?
This depends on the motor size. By the way, if you have to ask this question, then it not something you'll be able to diagnose or replace.
There is a cable on the passanger side of the center console that goes up under a plate behind the glove box. Remove the glove box and the plastic plate and follow the cable. The cable attaches to a little metal rod that adjusts the heater temperature. If this cable becomes separated from the rod then it will snap the rod back to the "cold" temp selection. Simply reattach the cable to the rod and adjust the temp. But, you will probally have to do this every time you change the temp settings on your heater control panel. So, I suggest you change it to the hot setting in the winter and leave it there until you want to change it again to cold in the summer.
usually this is the fuel pump in the tank going bad. I have had this problem many times for customers.
How do you fix power door locks on 90' f-150 you have power but the door loocks don't work?
usually the acutator motor in the door is bad sometimes they get wet and lock up. You must remove the door panel you can feel down inside the lower rear part of the door and you can feel the motor there is a pop rivit that has to be drilled out from the outside. There is one bolt on a bracket inside the door you can see it. The acutator rod to the latch and power plug must be unhooked. These are not cheap at auto zone they are about a $100 each at Ford you will probably have to finance them.
MAKE SURE IT IS NOT THE SWITCH BEFORE YOU GO TO ALL THE TROUBLE.
Sometimes the linkages are binding and the actuator could not hit home on the power stroke. Make sure by removing door panel and see before you make any costly repairs.
What size speakers fit a Geo Tracker and where are they located?
HI, Four inch (4") is the standard speaker that is fit there now but a five and a half (5 1/2") will fit also, a little cutting of the fiberboard is necessary and when it comes to putting the panel back on, you'll need to open the hole and use a new speaker cover because the holes that are there are for the four inch (4") that's in there. There are a few very good four inch (4") speakers out there, check at Crutchfield and then if money is no object, then CDT Audio. You could use component type speakers and mount the tweeter high, it's just more work. Hope this helps. Good luck. Steve H.
