You replaced the thermostat in your 2001 Chevy venture but the van is still overheating the top radiator hose is hard and hot to the touch like the thermostat is not opening up please advise?

The top radiator hose is above the thermostat. If the top radiator hose is hot, the thermostat is opening. The thermostat is not the problem. Perhaps the radiator is clogged up or the water pump is bad. Look elsewhere.

What is c-foam Seafoam for vehicles?

I think you probably mean "Seafoam", a motor treatment chemical that can be added to the crankcase oil, gas or diesel fuel, and air intake systems. It helps clean injectors, dissolves carbon build-up, removes moisture, and stabilizes and conditions fuel. You can read more about it at: www.seafoamsales.com/motortuneupconsumer.htm

How do you flush the cooling system 1999 chevy venture?

On the bottom corner of the radiator on the passenger side, there'll be a drain plug. Turn it counterclockwise until it comes out - and be sure to set some drip pans under it prior to doing this. This will drain the coolant. Once it stops draining, take a garden hose and insert it into the radiator cap opening. Turn the water on, and crank the motor. Let the motor long enough for the thermostat to release water through the cooling system. When you get clear water after the thermostat engages, you can cut the engine off and shut off the hose.

Chevy Venture heater hoses?

Chevy Ventures have two heater hoses. One is located on the intake connection and the other located on the output connection.

Why low coolant light wont go off in 2000 chev venture even after topping off coolant with antifreeze?

Although the following answers are correct, they fail to address your question. The LOW COOLANT light is controlled by a sensor in the coolant reservoir, that big plastic jug in your engine compartment. This reservoir has a switch mounted about half way down in it, and if the sensor goes BAD, it will make the "Low Coolant" light go on, no matter how much coolant you put in. You don't say whether or not your coolant level drops after a couple of days of driving, so it's unknown if your car is actually loosing coolant or not. If the level DOES NOT drop after a few days, you can be assured that the switch is bad. Your dealer can fix it by replacing the reservoir. #2 Answer Follows: Mainly because there are other things that help the coolant do its job properly. If the water pump is non functional, it wouldn't matter one iota if you put 300 gallons of antifreeze in the engine ... if there is no water circulation, it isn't going to cool off.

The thermostat also plays an important roll ... if it is stuck closed, the engine will remain hot and never cool down. If it is stuck open, the engine water temperature will be too cool.

How do you remove the steering rack on 94 paseo?

It a pretty difficult job for someone who isn't a mechanic, but if you have the tools and want to try it, go for it. You will save yorself A LOT of money on labor (because I would charge a pretty penny on this car)

Tools:Good socket and wrench set, pair of pliers, *pitman arm puller, and some screwdrivers.

Procedure:1) loosen lug nuts2) jack up and support front of car (both sides)3) remove wheel4) remove the cotter pin from tie rod end and remove nut (17mm) tie rod end is located behind the brake rotor on the side closest to the fire wall)5) use your pitman arm puller (you could use a ball joint seperator fork, but arm puller is generally easier) to pop the tie rod end out of the nuckle.6) turn the tie rod end jam nut to the right to move it up the tie rod some. this will allow the tie rod end to turn so you can remove it. Count the turns it takes to get the tie rod end off.7) remove the tie rod end and jam nut and save them. You will need to put these back on your new rack.8) repeat steps 3 through 7 on the other side9) remove the air filter box (top and bottom) and disconnect the intace duct work to allow access to fittings on rack10) remove the hydraulic lines with a wrench (there are two. one leads in, and one returns p/s fluid) PS fluid will flow freely. you should catch this in a drain pan. I wouldn't reuse it, though. There could be contaminates in it from the damaged rack (depends how bad it was damaged)11) there is what appears to be some sort of solenoid with two vacuum lines on the opposite side of the two hydraulic lines. remove those lines, and unscrew the solenoid. save this. you will need it for your new rack.12) there is a plastic cover held in by small nuts just above the hydraulic lines where the rack is joined with that universal joint and the steering wheel assembly. remove this cover.13) there is one bolt that holds the spline coming from the rack into the u-joint. remove this completely14) there is another bolt inside the driver compartment on the top side of the u-joint. if you remove this, you can slide that u-jount up the spline and separate it from the rack. your car has an unusual ammount of leeway there. that is lucky for you.15) there are two brackets holding the rack to the firewall. each has two bolts. (one on top, one on bottom.) remove these two brackets and save the rubber behind them. If the rubber isn't there, or is not any good, you could just cut some radiator hose and wedge it in when you put them back. It just helps keep the rack from moving (which it generally won't anyway.)16) it is recommended that you remove that transmission mount that is right in the way, but it is possible to work around it. once the rack is completely free of all connections, brackets, and the u-joint, you will have to wiggle it out. The easiest way (listen carefully. this is tricky, but it will work) is to slide the rack toward the driver's side as far as it will go, making sure the tie rod on the passenger side is out of it's hole and free to move about. then, tilt the passenger side of the rack down and wedge it between the oil pan and the c/v axle. You will probably have to rotate the rack a half turn to make the spline face down. I don't believe you can get it out with it facing up. It should, with a little work, slide out.17) if you actually made it this far, you should become a mechanic. Istallation is exactly the reverse of removal. you may have some trouble connecting the steering wheel to the rack so that the wheels and the steering wheel is straight. the easiest (really the only) way is to put everything back together and set the car down. straighten the wheels and then you can disconnect that u-joint again and set it straight. The only thing to keep in mind when putting the new rack is remembering how many turns it took to get the tie rod ends off. This should get it somewhat close to proper alignment, but not close enough. You will still need a front end alignment after replacing the rack. That's just one of those things. and do not forget to put power steering fluid back in!!!!! Good luck.

How do you Reset 5 monitors on a Chevy Venture?

Hi,

If you are referring the the monitors for gas mileage, fuel used, etc., which is displayed in the overhead console of the van, then it is pretty easy to reset them. But note that all of the displays can NOT be reset (such as instant mileage, and air temperature.

To reset the values, just display the one you want to reset, and then press and hold both button on both sides of the display. You will have to hold them for a few seconds, then the display will flash ALL of the indicators, and that will reset that particular display (such as fuel used). You will have to do this for each of the displays you want to reset, as they can NOT all be done at the same time.

I have included a link to a picture of the display and the buttons. Just scroll all the way to the bottom of the page when you get there.

Do you have to use the egr valve on 305 or could you just block it off?

No you need the EGR valve as these gases need to be vented from the crankcase. An EGR unit that has failed will cause your vehicle to run rough and use more fuel. The three letters in EGR stand for " Exhaust Gas Return". If your valve has failed it is best to replace it.

+_+_+ Actually the above answer is wrong. EGR valve system is used to add a small amount of exhaust gas to the combustion chamber for emission purposes. It also keeps the temperature of you engine lower. It is not active at idle or at WOT (wide open throttle) when they fail they put the exhaust gasses in the combustion chamber at idle making it run rough. IT IS NOT NECESSARY! Block off plates can be purchased or created. +_+_+

+_+_+ PCV Stands for Positive crankcase ventilation and that is a small device in the valve cover. +_+_+

What is the location of and how do you replace the O-ring on the injectors in a 1991 Jeep?

the First and most important step is there is a shcrader valve on the fuel rail (looks like a valve stem for a tire, put a rag around this and push on the core like you are letting the air out of a tire. This relieves the fuel pressure from the system so it doesnt spray all over you. After removing the fuel rail from the top of the injectors and the electrical plugs from the sides you can carefully extract each injector from it's hole.. the key is lubricate the O-rings before reinstalling them and second I heartily recommend replacing all the O-rings at once..they are cheap enough and if one is leaking the others will be sooner or later (sooner if you bump them while changing the one next to it. Under the injectors where they screw into the heads...

Where are the cooling fan relays located in a 2004 Chevy venture?

Hi,

The relays for the radiator cooling fans are located in the underhood fuse block. There should be a label on the underside of the fuse block cover, but I have included a link (below) to a site that shows the relays. You will have to scroll down a little bit, as that page shows all the fuse block diagrams in the van. I have checked and the layout for all of the 2001-2004 Ventures are the same.

Good Luck, Greg

What is the blue book price on a used Chevrolet venture?

The blue book price for a used Chevy Venture depends upon its year of manufacture, the length of its wheelbase, it accumulated mileage and many other factors. For example, a used 2004 Chevy Venture LS with 43,000 miles on it has a blue book suggested retail price of $9,995. A 2001 LS with 65,000 miles on it has a suggested retail price of $6,995. An older model with higher mileage will be cheaper to buy, but may end up costing you more in the long run if you factor in maintenance and repairs.
