Check to see if you are reading the compass. Mine had me going for a while before I figured out that it was reading heading degrees not temperature degrees. The resetting process can change it between the two types of readout.

The oil filter is on the passenger side of the engine, about halfway down the block. Easiest way to get to it is with a filter strap, through the wheelwell. Loosen it until you can spin it by hand. Get underneath the truck, reach up and spin it off, you can pull it straight down without tipping it and making a mess. Reinstall from under the truck (after priming at least 3/4 full of oil) and lubing the gasket... Spin on until gasket hits the baseplate, and use a strap wrench to go 1 full turn past that (through the wheelwell).

first make sure there is no gasoline in the tank. Drain it all out. If you dont something could catch on fire. So start out by looking at the fuel pump. Its usaully in the back under the car. Then you see a lot of screws around it and things. Take them off and take the fuel pump. Make sure no drips of gasoline drip on to the ground. Then get your new pump and do the same thing you did but just screw them back on and put them on tight so they dont fall off.

First answer is correct and true. I just wanted to add the fact that diesel's compression ratio's can be as high as 21:1-23:1 (older ford IDI engine's) but typically sit around 18-20:1. So in that case a lot more air is compressed per compression stroke. When you compress air it becomes extremely hot. Inject a little squirt or six (depending on how many pulse's that particular manufacturer programed the injector to do) into that super heated air and BOOOOM the explosion is ten fold more powerful then any gasoline ignition process. As for the glow plugs again first answer is correct so with that said it aide's in getting the air hot faster and nothing to do with the combustion process like people might think.
