P0442 is an Evaporative Emission Control System Leak (a small leak) ("EVAP") The sensor is indicating a fuel vapour (US spelling "vapor") in the EVAP system. It means a small leak has been detected. Apparently the leak can be a hole as small as 0.04" in diameter. The EVAP control system prevents the escape of fuel vapours from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapours are routed by steel tubes and neoprene rubber hoses to a charcoal cannister for storage. Later a purge control valve opens allowing the fuel vapours to be sucked into the intake system of the engine. The problem is not likely to cause the engine to operate any differently. The most likely cause is a loose or poorly fitting gas cap. Other possible causes are: a non-conforming gas cap, a small leak or hole or crackin a fuel fuel vapour hose or tube, a small leak elsewhere in the EVAP sustem or a faulty vent o-ring seal, or a faulty sensor. The most common repair is to remove, inspect and reinstall the gas cap, clear the code and drive to see if the code reappears. Replace the gas cap. Inspect the EVAP system for cuts, holes, cracks in the tubes and hoses. A smoke test is helpfull in detecting non-visible holes. Patience is also helpful. Steel tubes can rust out as a result of salt and water exposure and neoprene rubber can become brittle with exposure the UV light and Ozone. Ok, so since that won't work, can I buy a turbo muffler or something, such as Hooker. You can convert it to a true dual exhaust system and it will help your fuel economy but it is not cost effective. By the time you purchase the necessary parts and another converter to keep it legal, the money you spend can never be recovered in fuel savings.

lsc coupes are very well designed. placing "aftermarket" headers doesn't really do much but cost you money. these cars are very fast as is, think... it was after all based on the ford gt mustang engine and tranny. performance wise, as a mark 7 owner i wouldn't change anything.

AnswerIn specific, yes, the vehicle did come with factory headers as well as true dual exhaust. AnswerOK...So Im assuming that by headers you mean aftermarket...all cars have "headers" aka exhaust manifolds. Changing the exhaust manifolds is a GREAT idea to add extra horsepower and torque to your Mark. One of the weakest links on the 5.0 motor is the exhaust. The factory exhaust manifolds on the 5.0 are tiny little tubes of metal that choke your motor from breathing. If youre thinking of doing ANY kind of horsepower adding upgrades, don't start anywhere else but with new exhaust and intake components (upper and lower). 1 5/8" headers are ideal. Equal or unequal length are good, longtubes are the best but require some extensive work for the average do-it yourselfer. In my opinion start with a good catback system (mufflers, H-pipe, etc.) before you go getting involved with new headers. Just think of your motor as needing to breathe easier to make more power. The 5.0 motor is such a dog compared to what it could be...even in a Mustang...trust me, I do this for a living...these guys that posted before me just must not like fast cars =) AnswerI agree with the last post. The headers on the Marks just like the Mustangs are tiny. After market headers as long as they are larger diameter will make a difference. I owned a Mark myself. You should really upgrade the hole system but I know alot of the time people don't have $300 to drop on a new system. Headers would be a good place to start. Down the road you may want to look into getting you exhaust ports matched to the diameter ao the headers as well. They are alot smaller, but I strongly sugguest you have this done by a professional shop.hell yea after market headers will add power, look at the baby headers that came with the car.

I have a fully worked out 91 LSC special edition black. Leave the stock exhaust headers! They are plenty to push anything that the engine can handle. Get rid of the "4" cats and replace with 2 high flows to keep it legal. Switch to an Ford Explorer intake manifold from the junk yard (will require custom hood work to fit underneath) And put in some 1.7 roller rockers. If youre gonna go that far, MSD ignition and high power coil is recommended. I also converted to a stick shift...and i eat mustangs up all the time

The only way to check this is to have a compression test performed. After the test the problem cylinder will be indentified. If you had it to a shop and this was what you were told, I would assume it to be true. If you are n't feeling too trustworthy of that shop there is some other things to consider. If you have the rough running condition, you could have a bad ignition component causing the rough run condition. I have seen many mis diagnosis outside of our shop. The only true way is to perform the compression test for starters. This will accurately let you know if you have an internal engine problem.

A tachometer works by measuring how many time a spark plug fires. If the tachometer is designed to determine the rpm of an 8 cylinder engine it will not show the correct speed of a 2 cylinder engine. If I remember correctly if the tachometer designed for an 8 cylinder is used on a 4 cylinder engine it will show twice the number of actual rpm. So an 8 cylinder tachometer used on a 2 cylinder engine will show 4 times the actual rpm of the 2 cylinder engine. If you check around there are special tachometers designed for 2 cylinder engines.

The valve should actuate (pull in) and if you hold it with your tongue by stopping up the end of the tubing, it should also hold it's vacuum. If it loses it's vacuum or doesn't actuate it is bad.

you should find the egr in the front of the motor under the throlltle , two screws hold it in place , small hands and a univeral and off it comes . to find what yours looks like you can search eBay and see a pix or in your browser type in egr and engine size . it was harder to get to egr then anything no need to remove housing , if on AOL email me and i can offer a mechanic offering free repair advice and he helped us. be sure to clean port behind egr with ice pick and vaccumm it will or maybe blocked with black carbon build up . we used a wrech and it had a twisting ten mm ? on it and used an extention on it to gain access to it. we did remove air intake and one hose for ease

I checked Autozone.com and they didnt have the location. BUT, an EGR valve is normally attached to the intake manifold with a hose/tube connecting it to the exhaust manifold. It seems it would also be attached to the solenoid that you replaced.
