What causes a '93 Civic to idle rough and want to die when the AC is on?
When you turn the ac on it engages the ac clutch which is turned by a fan belt which is turn by the engine. you are making the engine work harder. The idle speed might be set to low or it,s time for a tune up.

How do you test for if an EGR valve needs replacing on a Taurus - Sable?
Testing steps: * Remove the vacuum hose on the top of the EGR valve and plug it.
* Connect a short hose to the EGR valve.
* Start the car.
* Now suck on the hose, or use an appropriate tool to apply suction to the line * this will open the EGR valve the engine should stumble and try to die.
If it does the EGR valve is working. There is an "Exhaust gas manifold pressure sensor" that measures the exhaust gas flow to the EGR valve. The problem is the sensor itself becomes clogged with exhaust carbon and gives the computer a fixed false reading, the computer in turn sends too much vacuum to the EGR valve and the engine runs rough, surges and may die.
This sensor on the 3.0 cast iron engine ( overhead valve no overhead cam ) is located by the firewall on or near the intake manifold and is connected to an exhaust tube running to the EGR valve by 2 short rubber hoses and has a 3 pin connector.
The hoses measure pressure drop across a restriction inside the tube as exhaust gas flows through it to the EGR valve.
I've replaced the sensor on 2 different Taurus', my wife's 99 and my sons 2002, the cars run great afterwards and the light goes off.
About 40 bucks do it yourself easily. Twist the old sensor to loosen the hoses. Push the new sensor onto the hoses. The other engines should have a similar sensor somewhere.
From my limited understanding a DPFE is part of the EGR system and its actual name is Differential Pressure Feedback (I am not sure what the E is for) My knowledge of this stems from getting an ODB code P0401 and trying all fixes to the EGR Valve, Flow Sensor and still not being able to remove the code. I found reference to this part from another site don't remember which one though sorry. Hope this helps a little. DPFE stands for the differential pressure feedback EGR system sensor. It's part of the EGR system. In Fords and Mazdas, it seems to be one of the first parts to defect when a P0401 signal is detected.

Where is the PCV valve for a 1990 LeSabre?
The elusive PCV valve does not leap out at you on the '90 LaSabre. Since, if your engine and it's spark plug wiring wiring is configured the same as mine, and hopefully it is for the sake of this answer, the PCV valve is hidden beneath those wires and, mostly, is further camouflaged by oil. Anyway, here's how you find the little sucker: As you stand next to your left tire, looking into the engine compartment, follow the 3 rear spark wires, from rear to front, ABOUT 3 inches PAST the REAR rocker arm cover. Pull the wires aside and look down a bit. There, at what might be called the south-west cornor of the rectangle engine block, if you consider the way you are facing to be "north", is the PCV valve. It's real close to the engine block. It fits stright down into its gromet with the hose the conects to the top/plactic part of the valve being only an inch long.
How much does it cost to replace shocks?
It depends on the year, make and model. Americans cars are cheaper the foreign cars. It also depends where you take your car as far as cost. Make sure you ask about warranty, most shocks come with life time warranty. If you want to save money ask family/friends/neighbors for advice on inexpensive shops. You can find some used good condition shocks at salvage yards if you don't plan on keeping your car. Cheers!!
hi the black smoke is your injectors should get them checked out.

Where is the egr valve in a 2005 pacifica can you replace it yourself?
On a 3.8L engine, the EGR valve is at the back of the engine on the right side, near the top of the engine. It is held on to the engine by two small bolts. Attached on the side of the EGR valve is a metal pipe held on to the EGR by two small bolts. If you remove the EGR, be careful not to drop any of the bolts down in the engine as you will never find them. Experience talking here.
Fairly easy to replace but make sure you get the right one for your sized engine. I got mine at NAPA for about $70.

How do i fix the Egr valve in a 1997 Pontiac transsport?
First verify that you haven't got a clogged passage in the intake. Remove the valve and start the engine. If it starts and runs (possibly at an abnormally high idle) reasonably well, the passage is clogged and must be cleaned.
Otherwise, put a new EGR valve on it. The valve itselt is not repairable.
