On newer vehicals the egr valve is located on ignition emissions system and on the older vehicals it is located on the intake manifold..

I believe it is at the top rear of the engine (between engine and firewall, just left of center (passenger side). You have to remove (2) bolts (bolted in from the back, toward the front of the vehicle), next, remove the EGR tube nut that goes to the bottom of the valve. Typically, the valve does not go bad. You can test the EGR valve by removing the vacuum connector from the top of the valve, and add vacuum to the top of the valve. If the valve works, the engine will shudder when vacuum is applied. Typically EGR problems on these are caused by the DPFE senser that is located next (toward driver's side)to the EGR valve. It also bolts in from the back with two small bolts, and has (2) vacuum hoses connected to the bottm of the switch.

I am getting ready to replace the EGR valve on my 1995 Mazda millenia. It is located at the back of the engine in the center at the top. It bolts on with 3 bolts. It will be a triangle shape. You will have to have a mirror to see it well. Any auto parts store should be able to show you exactly where it is.

the egr valve is located on the intake manifold- next to the throttle cable. it looks like a ufo, has one wire coming out of the center. go to autozone ask to see the replacement and you will have no problem finding it. It cost $40 at auto zone . make sure you get the gasket w it.

You can find it attached to the intake manifold next to the throttle body.

From my experience the original will fail by 50,000 miles.

im not sure on a 1990 but on my 93 civic ex 1.6 vtec the PVC valve is on the intake right under the fuel rail

depending on your mileage, if you have less than 80,000 miles or car is not older than 8 years old the dealer will actually fix it for free. Honda extended the warranty for that. if not it gets complicated you have to remove the intake manifold and drill out the egr passage then replace the valve.

ok if you sit in your car the cylinder head to your right if you are in front of your car its to the left take your hand and feel on the back of that head its down toward the bottom you can also follow the pipes from the plumuam

Egr diff sensor is behind your fuel pump on the drivers side. It has two small hoses running to the bottom of it. It looks like it is inside a cage that is the best way to explain it

the Egr Valve is located behind the the air intake (right in front of firewall) about 6 to 8 inches from the top, and it has two 10mm bolts one on top and one on bottom, make sure to take out the metal gasket upon removal. (do this when the engine is cool)

Could be too much fuel being burned. Gunk is building up, and when the engine is reved, the build-up is forced out. I have the same problem, and black spots all over the wall in my garage. Running rich sounds right. Best to get it fixed before you develop converter problems. Your fuel economy will improve dramatically. Do you have a check engine light on? If so, get the code read to you, and it's possible that you have a bad 02 sensor, I had the same thing with my 96 Explorer, replaced the 02 sensor. A few minutes after replacing the 02 sensor, I blew the rest of the carbon out of the exhaust, and havent seen it since.

there is no egr on a 99 unless its a 4 cylinder. and in this case, if you have to ask youd better take it to a mechanic!

I have replaced the old with a new egr valve, but my car is like hestitating for gas or something. The idle hand goes up or down or even when the car is in park or drive its tends to want to pull on its own. So I would like to know what are my complications with this vehicle.

EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. The EGR valve feeds exhaust gas back into the engine to cool the air fuel mixture and reduce NOx emissions. NOx is formed at high combustion temperatures and is responsible for smog.

However, engines don't run well when they're fed exhaust gas instead of air and fuel. So car makers only feed exhaust when the engine is running at higher RPMs. At low RPMs (idle), EGR can cause a rough idle or even cause the engine to die. An EGR valve that doesn't close all the way will leak exhaust into the intake manifold all the time and cause all kinds of problems.

On the intake manifold next to the carb or directly behind the carb depending on two or four barrel car. It's held on with two bolts and has a vacuum line going to it.
