Under the dash between the console and the heater controls.

There is no way to check it other than taking the speedometer gear/ speed sensor out of the top of the transmission. It is in there tight and you could break it trying to get it out. The proper fluid level is to the top of the gear. I strongly suggest you leave it alone. Others have broken off the speedometer gear and it has fallen into the bottom of the transmission case jamming the shifters so it can't be shifted. If you see no leaks it's probably Okay. If it is leaking, get it fixed and take it to a mechanic.

That way if it breaks he has to pull the engine/transmission out and you don't.

Shouldn't have anything to do with it. The brake lights are on a completely different circuit than the headlights. If your brake lights are not working check the switch on the brake pedal. Before you do that check the fuse first. If the fuse is all right it is probably the brake light switch which is bad.

Check the bulbs to see if they are burned out. If you can't tell, replace them anyway. If the Brake switch is good and the fuse is good, you may have a loose wire, or a bad wire.

May be computer controlled and not adjustable

the white wire goes to your instrument cluster, the red wire goes to power only when the key is on, the black goes to a clean ground, last but not least the green wire which everyone struggles with hooks up to pin 48 on the pcm in your center console which is a light green with a red stripe.

Purchase a repair manual at any auto parts store that is specific to your ride. Around $12, and will contain all the info you need for this and future repairs.

looking at your open hood from the front, it is slightly to the right side and behind the engin block, its a 2 inch in diamiter metal can about 3 inches long. you will see it from the top view. remove the 2 clips one on top and one on bottom to change it. plan on spilling gas everywhere, as it will still be full of gas. totaly need a rag.

Older Fords can present many interesting challenges. When my '97 Taurus got stuck in park, my boyfriend manipulated the wires between the steering (multifunction) column and it was able to come out of park. As he recommended, I went to my local car repair and had them replace the "shift cable" and that fixed the problem. Evidently there was a break in one of the wires of this cable. A Virginia Driver.

Blown fuse, bad thermal relay, bad fan motor, or bad wiring.

Try the fan relay switch if your fuse is not blown.

Sounds like your fans did not move before and after you changed the thermostat (so you should have not written the word "now")? If just later, and because you may have accidentally messed with conductors when you changed the thermostat, then wiggle or clean your connections and possibly do a continuity check.

Depending on the year of the car, possibly near the battery there are a few relays (and maybe one by the fuse box inside the car or by the glove compartment). Lightly tap on them as they may be stuck. Worked for me for a stuck radiator cooling fan, as one was stuck on but that was stuck on not off as in your case so may not work the same.

Check if the calipers are sticking.

Relay overheating or short in wiring harness. Try hitting the door the next time they don't work or kicking the firewall.

it doesn't. it's because of miss-fire. change the ignition plugs and some of the wiring. A very common cause if the engine is vibrating is a leak in a vaccuum hose or a disconnected vaccuum hose. A higher rpms this is not as noticable. you can listen for a small air suction noise or if you want to rule this out simply disconnect a vaccuum line and see if you have a noticable change. also you might check the elbow that connects the vaccuum lines as they sometimes get holes or dissintegrate.

The fuel pump and pickup assembly is a lousy design on some of the earlier Escort years. The assembly fits inside the gas tank and the fuel pickup (with attached strainer) is closer to the right side of the tank. A slight gap can develop in the connection between the fuel pump and the fuel pickup, because the fuel pick up is made of hard plastic without a rubber o-ring it often does not form a tight seal to the fuel pump. That point on the assembly is about 2" higher than the bottom of the tank and it becomes uncovered during right turns when the tank is between 1/4 and 1/2 full. This is because the fuel moves over to the left side of the tank while cornering to the right. Thus, the fuel pump starts sucking air instead of fuel. Hence, the stall occurs. To fix this problem requires a new fuel pick up strainer for around $10 to $15 from your local auto parts store. Since this is a faulty design you may have to try more than one to get a good fitting one that seals properly.

Remove the radio/heater control module.

Disconnect the temperature control cable at the base of the control assembly . It is on the center mound just to the right of the gas pedal.

Take the heater control cable off of the back of the heater control module.

Pull the temperature control cable off.

It doesn't have an idle adjusting screw. The idle speed is controlled by the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve which receives it's signal from the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). If you are having idle problems the IAC needs to be taken off and cleaned or replaced. It is a small elctric motor on top of the throttle body. It has a couple wires going into the end of it. Take it off by removing the two bolts with an 8 mm socket. Clean it with carb cleaner, oil it and replace it.

I dont have the fuse panel Diagram for a 2005 linc avaitor. Whats size fuse would this be so I don have too pull everyone to find the blown fuse.

compartment ( cartridge fuse # 3 is a 20 amp fuse for the cigarette lighter )

first off is the clacking noise when in park as well? if it is it may be a valve tap. you can research a valve tap it is common and usually not a huge problem right away.
