Where is the headlamp control module in a 87 trans am?
The headlamp module on the 87 Firebird (all sub-models are the same) is on the firewall, just to one side of the power brake booster.
It is not quite flat, about 4" by 4", with two electrical connectors, one with 4 wires and one with 5.
This is a (sort-of) sealed unit that could be repaired by an electronic tech. I mention this because it may be hard to find one unless you can get a used one somewhere.
Where is the turn signal fuse located on a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am?

How do you reset the change oil light in a 99 Cadillac Deville?
Don't know if this works in a 99' but I have a 97'. You have reset the "oil life remaining" readout and this will reset "change oil" indicator. Scroll thru your various readouts (rpm's, water temp, battery volts, etc.) till you see it and then just press reset. Hope this works for you.
How do you clean a dirty headlight lens?
------------- i have the plastic light lenses on my car they were all foggy and yellowish i put a small buffer pad on a drill applied sone mild polishing compound on it and buffed away then did it with wax they came out like brand new it was very easy -----------------------------------
Cleaning a dirty headlight lens requires a product or products and techniques suited to the material the lens is made of and the kind of "dirt" on the lens. Let's look.
Generally the problem is oxidation, If uninhibited it will form naturally on acrylics exposed to heat and moisture creating a thin veil over the lens that gets thicker over time. There are two ways to address oxidation.
There is the easy way:
1. Use a acrylic lens deoxidizer,
I recommend Pittman Original ALR. its a non abrasive DIY solution that takes seconds
Or you could do it the hard way
2. Use a polish , which is abrasive which I don't advise for oxidation removal on acrylic or plastic.
First you need to have a better understanding about headlight construction before you start.
A lens could be made of glass. In this case, just about any glass cleaner would work. (Avoid abrasives; they could scratch the glass.) If road tar or tree sap is the problem, a solvent will be needed, and car parts places as well as good hardware stores have what you need.
In the case of a plastic lens, cleaning is accomplished with glass or plastic cleaner in a manner similar to what is used on a glass lens. If road tar or other gunk that is not water soluble ends up on the lens, a solvent is called for. Be sure to get one that won't attack the plastic. (Try a tiny amount in a lower corner before applying it wholesale.) Lastly, a plastic lens can oxidize where a glass lens will not. Often we see a plastic lens take on a "white-ish" or possibly a "frosted" look. In this case, the surface layer of the plastic will have to be removed, and it will have to be "polished off" by some means.
The reconditioning of a plastic auto headlight lens is probably best left to professionals who have equipment as well as the appropriate polishing compound (s). But if you are a hard core do-it-yourselfer, start researching the materials and equipment you'll need to do the job. There are kits out there you might try, too. Do your homework, and begin at an auto parts place, hit some body shops, and particularly some big auto detail shops. Certainly the web can help.

Ford explorer radio cuts off while driving?
The radio could have a short in a wire that is being bounced and causing it to turn off. It also could be the radio is going out and should be replaced.
Hey John==At the battery there is a tan or brown wire that if you touch it to the pos battery post should make the pump run. This bypasses the relay. GoodluckJoe
Also, you can put a fuel pressure tester on the injector fuel rail - there is a connector that looks like an air pressure valve.
Turn on the key and the pump should run. Pressure s/b typically arount 36 - 45 lbs. The motor will run with pressure down to about 28 - 30 lbs although maybe not very well.
Below about 24 lbs it will simply not run at all.
Sometimes when a pump goes it quits entirely, and sometimes it just gets tired but doesn't stop completely.

Have you check the fuse that is underneath the control panel for the mirrors? I recently had to change the power window motor on my ford and when I pulled up the console for the window/power mirror control there was anothe 10 amp fuse there
could be the switch that controls it too. I had to replace mine cause the mirror would move up or left only. But if switch is bad completely then it would not move at all.

Reset the change oil light on 1997 Monte Carlo?
everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the library should have a professional shop manual available in the REFERENCE section...make copies of the right sections...good luck :) To reset your change oil light, GM uses the "3-step" method:
I have a 1997 and here is what the manual says to do:
With the ignition key in the RUN position, but the engine off, fully push and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the CHANGE OIL SOON light flashes two times, the system is reset. However, if the light comes on and stays on for five seconds, it did not reset. You'll need to reset the system again. ...Good Luck!
What is the problem when you have heat going down the road but when you stop the air turns cold?
Generally air in the heater core or hoses causes lack of flow at idle while increased engine speed will push some coolant through the hoses and heater core as you go down the road. You could also have a door actuator not working correctly or a thermostat that's stuck partially open or that won't close all of the way. Your description points to air in the hoses.
Generally you can put the front end of the car on ramps or jack it up while in park and running with the emergency brake set and wheel chalks in place. This should let the air cycle through. A more dangerous way is to find which hose is on the outgoing side of the heater core and slightly remove or caulk it to one side enough to let the air out (your cooling system is under pressure and can be above the point of boiling water when fully hot). Proper water proof gloves, face shield, sleeves with sacks over them, etc. should be worn for those not trained to work on vehicles. I'm a former ASE Certified Master Auto Tech. and if the "leave the hose on and jack up the vehicle method" won't work you should let a qualified person do it (if you're not absolutely sure of what you're doing).

How do you know if your car belts are worn?
Twist it so you can see the underside of the "V" shape on V-type belts, or the ribs on a serpentine-type belt and check for any wear or cracks. Oil-soaked belts can slip and not rotate the component they are driving fast enough. Glazed belts have a shiny appearance; this occurs when a belt is not tight enough and the slipping polishes its surface. Torn or split belts have major damage and must be replaced immediately. If your car is equipped with a cam belt and not a chain, you need to replace the belt at the proper interval as spelled out in your owner's manual. On some engines, called interference engines, failure to replace the belt made lead to it breaking. A broken belt on an interference engine will most likely result in engine damage and costly repairs. The appearance of the belt is no indication of it's condition. Replace according to the owner's manual. It is a good idea to check the condition of coolant hoses at the same time as the drive belts.
