The biomass from one lower level will support approximately 10% of the biomass of the next higher trophic level. Example: 100 kg (biomass) of a producer (plant) will be required to support approximately 10 kg of the primary (first-level) consumers.
What is the longest lasting engine?
If you are talking about internal combustion engines I would imagine the Wankle or "rotary" engine, as it has the fewest number of moving parts and keeps a consistent direction of movement. However all engines rely on the maintenance they receive and the work load/conditions they endure. I have heard of some steam engines that operated for 70 some odd years continually in factories, and electric motors I could see running for as long as they were supplied power.
How do you determine if you have a rod knock?
Always check your repair monuel before using any tip to see if it will hurt your electrical or ignition system. Increase the rpm until the noise is heard then disable one fuel injector at a time. When the noise quits you have found the cylinder with the problem. If your engine is carb you have to pull one spark plug wire at a time to determine the cylinder. If the noise does not quit the problem is in the top end of the motor or the belt or acces. system. One last hint, cracked automatic flywheels will sound just like a rod bearing.
How many cubic inches is a 6 liter motor?
about 366 cubic inch
1 liter equals about 61.02 cubic inches
9 times out of 10 its low on antifreeze/coolant. either from leaking internally or externally.
could be a weak or bad water pump
clogged radiator
or any of hundreds of other causes for overheating
Why does your engine sputter while accelerating?
A sputtering engine can be caused by several things. Check the fuel pressure, proper timing, and make sure that the EGR valve is not clogged up.
Could be as simple as needing new spark plugs. If the check engine light goes on, check for codes.
What could cause an engine to 'tick'?
The "tick" of the engine is caused by the pre-ignition in the chamber before it reaches the spark plug. Because the gas is combusting before it reaches the spark plugs, this is causing the "tick" noise. Recommend using a higher grade of fuel "mid-grade" Have you checked your oil lately? If not check it and if it is low add more and the ticking should go away. are you sure you are not hearing the normal noise of the fuel injectos doing their job? a properly-working fuel injector will make a clicking noise. Some times you can hear it while driving in a quiet place, or when the engine is running and you are under the hood. THAT is a normal sound. http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCase=S001&UserAction=viewSimpleDiagInfo&Parameters=info answer not pre-ignition. ticking sound is more likely to be a small exhaust manifold leak. or a sticky hydraulic lifter, an engine flush and oil change will fix it ANSWER FROM DAN
the ticking noise may be your lifters if you put new oil in and the ticking does not go away try tightening your lifters. you may want to take the car to a garage because you could wreck more than help if you over tighten. or don't fit gasket correctly.
Why won't my Vt commodore start will turn over but won't start?
Its likely it could be your crank angle sensor. take it to the mechanic and get it scanned. the problem should show up
How do you tell engine size on 1992 ford ranger?
Look at the engines listed at
www.therangerstation.com
or
8 spark plug wires means 4cyl (two plugs per cyl)
else it is a v-6, in this case look at the intake/throttle body. if it sticks straight up and comes straight forward then it is a 4.0
if the throttle body is kinda swooped toward the drivers side and then comes forward it is a 3.0
A trim pump allows your outboard engine to lift off the water on a Y axis. As your craft gains momentum, you can lift it a bit to ensure you have as much thrust as you can have.
clean off the battery cables, relplace the spark plugs or replace the MAP sensor * Battery Cables- could be messing with the igniting of the gasoline witch makes your engine sloppy * Repalce Spark Plugs- not all the fuel is being combusted, if you replace with AM -Delco Rapid Fire Plugs, it should fix it or help alot * MAP sensor- most expensive, but it regulates how much fuel the engine needs so it can combust properly

Need to drain coolant from engine. Then remove anything that's in the way. So you can gain actcess to the freeze plug, now take a punch and hammer and drive one side of the plug in towards block till the plug turns side ways. then remove it. Clean
and sand the hole where the plug goes. Now put some yellow RTV weather striping
on the new plug around the sides. Now get a socket that will fit in the plug and drive it back into the block until it is flush with the block. There It Is, Now put every thing
back together Your done
What happens when you put regular unleaded gasoline in a diesel engine?
Diesel fuel contains a wax like substance wich lubricates the diesel injection pump and the fuel injectors. Gasoline dos not contain anything like that needed to lubricate those parts. So the pump will sieze up and the engine will fail. A diesel engine rebuild can cost thousands.
Not so fast. If the old engine was a slant 6, you will need to change the k-member. Depending on the year of the 340, you may need to get the correct flywheel or torque converter because some of these were externally balance. Early 340's were a forge crank and the later ones were a cast crank.
Easy pull old motor out put 340 in!!!!!
Suburban cuts off while driving?
Need to know year and engine size, That will help us answer your question.
it's a 7.4 454 engine in a 1996 GMC suburban
