How do you move the Brent Spar?
The Brent Spar oil storage facility was towed to a deep-sea location and then partially submerged. It was then filled with buoyant material to float it into a vertical position where it can be easily towed for final disposal. The process involved extensive planning and coordination to ensure the safe and environmentally responsible transfer.
Why it is ill advised Information Technology to have a surge guard positioned on the floor?
Placing a surge guard on the floor can increase the risk of physical damage from water spills, dust, or accidental kicks. It may also impede proper ventilation, potentially causing the surge guard to overheat and malfunction. Mounting it on a wall or on a higher surface is recommended for better protection and longevity.

A navigation vessel is a ship or boat specifically equipped for the purpose of navigating and exploring waterways, oceans, or other bodies of water. These vessels typically have advanced navigational equipment and technology to ensure safe and efficient travel.
How does a basic remote rate gyro restrict the motion of one axis?
A basic remote rate gyro restricts the motion of one axis by detecting the rate of rotation around that axis and providing a feedback signal to control a servo mechanism that counteracts the rotation, thus stabilizing the axis. This feedback system helps to maintain the desired orientation of the axis despite external disturbances.
When will the Magellan roadmate maps be updated?
Magellan has indicated that the decision to update maps will be dependent on the number of customer requests. I guess they feel if there is enough concern, they will plan on doing it. I wish they would, I would like to update mine. Still, this is what they told me about nine months ago. I guess its time for me to call again.
Viper1
Map updates can be purchased (software updates are free) from the Magellan website (MagellanGPS.com > Products > Maps and Software, as of Jan 20, 2010). The latest update available right now is the 2009 Spring Map Update, available on an SD card for $80.

What is the unit of measurement for measuring latitude?
Degrees, minutes, and seconds are used to divide the earth's surface. One degree is 1/360 of the earth's perimeter, and one minute is 1/60 of one degree, and one second is 1/60 of one minute. At the equator, the earth's perimeter is approx 24,000 miles, so one degree is approx 66.7 miles- this was traditionally called 60 nautical miles, so one minute was one nautical mile. Of course as you get nearer to the poles, the miles per degree on a parallel to the equator reduce, as the meridian lines converge. On a meridian line however the unit distance per degree is constant, except for the slight variation due to the flattening of the earth at the poles.
Intsrument that gather and record information from a distance?
A remote sensing instrument is used to collect and record information from a distance. These instruments are often mounted on satellites or aircraft and can capture data about the Earth's surface without direct physical contact. Examples include cameras, radars, and spectrometers.
Widely known by its yellow hippopotamus logo, Collex-Onyx, a division of Veolia Environment, is one of Australia's leading environmental services companies
Your tomtom has been charged but will not turn on why?
If your TomTom is fully charged but not turning on, try doing a soft reset by holding down the power button for about 15 seconds. If that doesn't work, try connecting it to a computer to see if it responds. If all else fails, contact TomTom customer support for further assistance.
Oceanographers work in various settings such as government agencies, universities, research institutions, environmental consulting firms, and industries related to marine resources. They may also work on research vessels and in coastal areas conducting fieldwork and collecting data.
How many GPS satellites are required to triangulate a plan-form position?
You would need at least three GPS satellites to pinpoint your location. However, you would need a fourth to also identify your elevation.
Name some artificial satellites which are used for different purpose?
The first man-made satellite was Sputnik, launched into orbit in 1957 by the Soviet Union. The first American satellite was Explorer, launched the following year.
The oldest satellite still in orbit is Vanguard, launched in 1958 by the US.
There are now thousands of satellites currently in orbit, including communications satellites, GPS satellites, and the International Space Station.
if you would like to see a real-time 3-D plot of satellites now in orbit, check out the JTRACK 3D web site from NASA.
Why is ku band microwave used in remote sensing of sea ice?
The Ku-band (12-22 GHz frequency, 2 cm wavelength) is much stronger than the the other bands (x, c, l). With its high capability it is used to study the properties of sea ice and thinner snow, where there is weaker response by the other bands.
Using Ku-band , we get a stronger backscattered radiation from the surface and hence the surface type properties could be studied more in detail.
Can you use a town and country Chrysler GPS system in Mexico?
No. :(
I Live in Puebla Mexico and have a US Town and Country Touring and was optimistic that it would work here. I went to the local Chrysler dealership and they literally came out to the car to look at the system because they had never seen one. I kept inquiring and they said that technically you could buy a disk for Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterey but that they had never seen one. It does not have the Mexican highways on it either.
Sam's Club in Mexico sells a Polaroid GPS (Polaroid, don't they make cameras?) that has all of Mexico on it. It runs about $250.
Old trench periscopes worked by using two mirrors to bounce light from one place to another. A typical periscope uses two mirrors at 45 degree angles to the direction one desires to see. The light bounces from one to the other and
then out to the persons eye.
If there is an object in front of you, any nearby light source (i.e the sun, a lamp etc.) bounces straight rays of light onto the object and then into your eyes, enabling you to see it. However, if the object is not within straight lines of your eyes, the light will not find them and you will not be able to see the object (since light only travels in straight lines).
But a periscope works using the laws of reflection. Reflective objects like mirrors work by bouncing light so it carries on in a straight line but alters it's route, according to the angle of the mirror to the light source. This means that if the mirror was at a 45 degree angle to the light source then it would bounce off at a perpendicular (90 degree) angle. That is how a periscope works.
The important fact to note when considering a periscope is that the laws of reflection mean that the light hitting a mirror at an angle is reflected off at twice the angle of the mirror. Thus a 45 degree mirror reflects light rays through 90 degrees.
Submarine Periscopes
Submarine optical periscopes don't use mirrors due to their fragility and susceptibility to environmental conditions/changes, requiring special coatings. Instead, they use refractive prisms.
The newer U.S. Virginia-class and British Astute-class boats use neither; they use a Photonics Mast, which is essentially a hi-resolution camera array that is raised above the waterline. This has many advantages, the primary one being that the Control Room need not be directly under the main sail as in all previous modern submarine designs.
Science has made our world so dirty ,the industrialists are throwing their waste off in rivers, lakes and other water bodies.Science has made our lives so easier that we are not taking care of anything, anyone etc. We are putting all around atom and hydrogen bombs, are we all realizing the real impact of that.Because of science only we have to suffer of global warming, melting of glaciers etc.
NMEA OUT refers to the output of NMEA (National Marine Electronics Association) data from a device. This data format is commonly used in marine electronics for communication between instruments and systems on boats and ships. NMEA OUT provides information such as GPS location, speed, heading, and other relevant data to other devices or navigation systems.
NAV stand for Net Assets Value. It represents a fund per share market value. NAV is the market value of the assets of the scheme minus its liabilities. Buying and selling of fund is entirely based on NAV price
For example, if a fund has assets of $50 million and liabilities of $10 million, it would have a NAV of $40 million.
Formula to calculate the NAV: Net Assets Value=Market value of investment scheme + Receivables + Accrued Income + Other Assets - Accrued Expences - Payable - Other Liabilities.
Why don't my dashboard gauges work?
