my 93 grand am was doing something similar to the question you ask. It would drive fine at times and then it would die and when restarting would buck, jerk, etc. and had a had time restarting. After sitting it would seem fine. I had to have my crank case heater assembly replaced and now it seems to be running fine.
My 93 SOHC 2.3l did this and I replaced coil pack housing (Actually mechanics shop replaced after testing) and it fixed problem. These engines are notorious for cracked coil pack 'housing' because of coil on plug design the housing takes alot of heat. Let us know what fixed cause it helps others looking for answers. Good luck
It is possible the torque converter clutch is staying engaged, there is a solenoid in the transmission that sticks and wont let the converter release. there is also a plastic orifice that breaks off and becomes lodged in the solenoid causing the same problem. This usually can be distinguished from an engine problem by noting whether the engine runs normally until you actually put the car in gear
Why is 2002 pontiac grand am oil leak where the sparkplug is?
The hot wires are the ones with 12 volts running through them. You'll need a voltmeter to find them - they could be most any color, but seldom black, though.
If you have never done it, I suggest taking it to someone. However, if you have the tools and want to do it yourself. You will need to jack up the car first. Remove right front wheel. This is so you can get to all bolts on the front plastic cover. Remove the bolts, remove the cover/covers if 2 piece. Losen the timing belt tensioner, move away, take off belt, replace, tighten pretty tight with hand. Make sure no slack is present! But not extremely too tight. Retighten all bolts and covers and install wheel. NOTE: If timing belt was broken this is a whole different story. Do not try..Unless you know how..
there are 2 ways that I know about: the first way is length x width x height. And the second way is the water displacement method by Archimedes.
1-6-5-4-3-2 #1 cylinder is in the front on the passaenger side and you wire it from the top down on the coil pack
This is a very dangerous repair unless you have the proper tools and skill. The fact that you ask the question would indicate you do not. Take it to a professional. Serious injury or death can occur if you do no know what you are doing.
Bring to a shop that has an ABS scanner to see if there is a problem - if not have codes cleared
Often rebooting the computer by turning the ignition off then on several times will clear "glitches". Sometimes mine has had to cycle as meny as 20 times to clear a "false" signal.
If the main and/or rod bearings are worn, the oil pressure can't be maintained after the oil warms up and thins out. You might be able to get a little more life out of the engine by switching to a heavier weight engine oil.
It is possible also that just the oil pump has worn and can't produce enough pressure at idle. Very often, though, if the pump is worn, so are the bearings, and vice-versa.
It cannot be done, you must have a code reader because the system is OBD2, you used to be able to do it without a code reader, but that was OBD1, OBD2 is much more complicated electronics. If you want to get it scanned, you should go to Autozone, they will code scan for free but will not clear codes. You have to pay someone with a code reader to clear the codes, disconnecting the battery doesn't work either
the local shop wanted $1400. DIY cost me about $700 for gasket set and having heads checked.

Pry off the small rubber stopper under the steering column. Insert screwdriver or pen far enough to move the lever inside, key should turn and be able to be pulled out.
either need a blend door accuator or a heater box
First remove the resovoir tank to have more space. Remove drive belt. Two top bolts and 1 side bolt to remove alternator plus connections( power and ground). Then 3 remove 3 bolts from tensioner housing and remove. Should come out with heater hose fittings. Be careful the fittings could break in manifold. Finally replace fittings and reinstall housing, bolts, alternator w/ connections, drive belt and reservoir tank. Used Dorman heater hose fittings # 47065 from local autoparts store autozone/ oreilly's have replaced them 6 times in past year. 6th was 2 days ago.keep blowing out... its true practice makes perfect. Wrote this in 5 mins!
its located on the drivers side , between the master brake cylinder and the engine block. its a pain to get to. follow the a/c line down to it.
If its the 2001 model it should be 5x115, pattern is different prior to that year. Hope this info helps!
you MIGHT put a little more effort into your question - details &H specifics never hurt.
in a front wheel drive car, bad , loose CV joints clunk upon turning.
To reset the computer in a car disconnect the negative battery terminal until you her a click ( it will be about 5 mins), then it is done.
We know that air resistance (or atmospheric drag) is what causes a leaf to fall more slowly than a penny. A large leaf that weighs a much as a penny has a much greater surface area than the penny, and all this surface area means that the leaf has more drag. Though the leaf and penny will be accelerated by the same amount of force (because they have the same mass), the leaf will present all that surface area to the air, and this will set up a condition of high drag.
