Heating AC and Engine Cooling

Heating, air conditioning (AC) and engine cooling require a radiator to transfer heat. Heating a cabin requires heat to be transferred from an engine block. Engine cooling blows the heat out of the engine. AC uses refrigerants to cool air.

Where is the low pressure port to recharge the ac on a 1997 Ford Taurus?

I have a 97 mercury sable, basically the same car. I found my low side connector on the firewall passenger side at the top. there is a high side connector sticking straight up next to the radiator refill, it is directly back from this. The problem I have is the recharge kit connectors do not fit. I am looking into it further and will post if I come up with anything, but the guys at the local auto parts store confirmed I had the right valve, but can't connect the recharge hose. Hope this helps.

Where are the fan relays for a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?

I don't believe there is a fan relay in a Pac. The fan is controlled by an electronic circuit inside the air box, right behind the glove box. If your fan is stuck on "High" like mine was a few months ago its an easy fix and costs about $100 for the part from the dealership (the dealer was the cheapest). All you have to do to access it is empty out your glove box, bring it forward past the stops by pressing the sides in, and you will see an electrical connector right behind it held in by 2 10mil screws.

How does a cars radiator work?

Hi

The water pump (Just like a heart)pushes the water/antifreeze through the engine block, and through the radiator where the fins in the radiator absorb some of the heat, and the air passing through the radiator cools the fluid down to be pumped back into the engine block, keeping the engine cool enough to drive.

You have water in your engine from a blown head gasket what do you do?

Obviously you will have to replace the headgasket. Depending on the engine type and configuration, it may be a major process. Once the head has been removed you should take it to a machine shop to have it "planed", meaning that if the head gasket blew the head is probably warped and you have to do something to make it flat again. It can be out just a couple thousandths of an inch, something that you couldn't even detect, and that would be enough to cause the head gasket to leak. If you don't have experience with this, take it to a reputable mechanic.
