Is it safe to shift at the redline in a stock 1995 Honda prelude si?
If you shift close enough to the redline, your tach should drop below as you go to the next gear. If you hit the redline, you will get fuel cutoff. It is designed to prevent you from damaging your motor.
Is there a shift sensor on a 1989 Honda Prelude automatic to control when it shifts?
Sort of - depending on model .What motivated you to ask the question ? are you having delayed up-shift points in relation to speed ? or no kickdown from top gear ? etc .Does your trans(looking to rear) front center lower on bellhousing, just inside engine bay behind radiator , have a series of 4 solenoids stacked vertically ? (don't worry) this just helps identify the trans during a year model trans type cross-over ,depending on which market.Main influence is a correctly adjusted throttle to trans cable (for example on earlier series 2 prelude/accords '84- mid '87 cable adjusted one way will give "short-shifts" at lower revs up into the next gear, into top(4th) aiding economy, adjusted another way will delay part throttle upshifts at any given rev point in relation to road speed - giving a more sporty 'hold onto a lower gear' shift pattern,at full throttle from standing start.
Maladjusted can cause problems , is fixable, but, model depending , may not be only cause of 'non-standard' shifting (slipping/soft "flaring" shifts/worn trans aside) hope this helps.Don't fiddle with anything you don't understand your fiddling with.
There again, much to trans shop/dealer chargrin, don't accept a "full trans rebuild" when adjustment, broken vacuum hose etc or honest shop/learned mechanic ('ask Smokey') check would fix.Goodluck(if this was a genuine question) - that will be $200 inspection fee please :-P

How do you set ignition timing on 1982 Honda prelude 1.8 single overhead cam?
Hi, you don't need a stroboscopic timing light to do this but it is better. If the distributor has been removed, remove the valve cover. You need to put cylinder one at top dead centre. Remove the spark plugs so you can turn the engine. Put cylinder one at TDC- you achieve this by having all three criteria met- the valves on cylinder one are closed (ie slack in both rocker arms), the timing mark on the flywheel can be seen thru the little opening between the engine and transmission, and on the cam pulley the word up is pointing up and the two indentations on the inside of the cam pulley are horizontal with the top of the head. Then put the distributor back in with equal play when you turn it left and right in its hole. Put everything else back together. With Liquid Paper put a small white line on the timing mark on the flywheel. Start the engine. Turn the distributor until the white timing mark is beside the top of the small opening between the motor and transmission- the engine is now timed to 5 degrees before top dead centre. You can check this with a timing light if need be. As an aside I own three 1982 Preludes with the first one bought in 1988.
Where is reverse switch on 1994 prelude?
On the top of the transmission case, close to the passenger side mount.
Where is automatic transmission drain plug on Honda Prelude?
On the outside of the transmission housing. It is on the passenger side and can be accessed easily if the passenger front tire is removed. The plug is the completely round one with the 3/8" square in it. You remove it by putting a 3/8" drive on it with no socket.

Proximity refers to the state of being near or close to something in terms of distance, time, or relationship. Cost of timing belt replacement cost on a Honda Civic EX 1999?
It's about 2.5 hrs of labor and the belt is about $40. Depending on labor rates in your area, you're looking at about $300. They will also try to talk you into replacing the water pump at the same time, which is not a bad idea since 90% of the labor is already paid for. A new water pump runs around $100.

IMO, since the labor cost is most of this expense, make sure these inexpensive parts are also replaced; oil seals to avoid future leaks, water pump which won't last much longer anyway, drive belts which are also due to change out, new antifreeze. This will also drive up the cost of the labor and the parts cost. Honda cars will go for a long time if the repair schedule is followed.
Will a 90 Honda Prelude motor fit in an 89 Honda Civic DX?
No, the B20A or B21A motors will not fit into ANY other car than the 88-91 Prelude it was intended for. This is because the engine block was designed to sit at an 18-degree rearward slant in order to clear the low hood-line of the car. So these motors will not work in anything but a 3rd generation Prelude.
If you intend to make it work and swap a B20A or B21A motor into a 4th generation Honda Civic then by all means have fun, but it will be neither easy nor cheap to do so because a lot of custom fabrication will be involved. It would be a waste of time and money.
How do you reset my atts light on my 98 prelude sh?
You could reset it by going to the fuse box and removeing the clock fuse but make shuts you know the code for the radio also you could try the turning the steering wheel 45 degrees and pull the e brake 2 times within 4seconds and it should blink turn to the right and the left then dead center and then turn the ignition off. See how that goes. There's always draining and refilling with atf fluid.
