The check engine light (service engine soon) comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. To determine the cause, the vehicle will need to be taken to AutoZone or a shop that has an OBD2 scanner, or for 1995 and earlier models, an OBD1 scanner, While a scanner will not give you the magic answer, it will give you a code that narrows down the problem area.

Yes, but only in case if the mounts on your car are already shot. If it's the case you should replace them ASAP because damaged mounts are known for causing very serious mechanical problems to transmission.

Yes, it's possible but you risk too much. If you screw the timing belt, you will have to change half of the engine.

Massive power loss in a turbo vehicle could be due too boost leak for the turbo.

I drive this vehicle 200mi/day and it has around 155k on the engine. The vehicle is a 97 Stick Eclipse. After understanding the pattern of the knock it seems like to come if I run the engine at very high rpm in between any gear. This problem will go away automatically after my be 10 - 15 mins after letting dense smoke from the pipe. What could be the problem is it an indication for a re-building.

Yes it can, but you will need to get the head lights along with the bumper to do this conversion. I did it my self except I did a 1997 to a 1995. Works just fine, just remember you'll need the head lights from the 95' too.

Swap it for the 4g63. Unless you just want a little boost. Do your math if you stick with the gs engine. You could bolt on the charger and then do the swap after you break something.;-)

If u really like the 420a u can jus turbo it...or take it apart drop compression etc....and try to break the 661 whp record ...but no u cant swap it the 4g63 wont fit in the same mounting places

I believe that the entire engine must be dissasembled...more or less the water pump is located behind the timing belt and the balance shaft belt housing...in order to change the pump alot of work must be done I suggest changing the timing belt and balance shaft belt while you are doing this...also removal of the AC compressor if applicable is probably going to happen so switching to r134A is a good idea also...I find many usefull facts for the dsms on this site look around I believe that it will be overall helpfull...http://members.shaw.ca/costall/1000Q/

Hi, I have a Chrysler sebring and the interior is almost identical to an eclipse.. After you get all the screws out.. check behind the door latch and in the well for the door handle.. (there is one in there very well conceiled under a little cover that you can lift using a flathead screw driver) you just pull (carefully) from the bottom of the door.. there are a ton of plastic pins in the door that keep it on even after you have removed all the screws.. Careful though some of them can pop off or break.. Hope this helps..

When you look at the spark plugs they should be in the order 4 3 2 1

They should fire in the order 1 3 4 2

This happen to me before. First Check if your power steering works, this easy to tell you should have a hard time turning the steering wheel. If so Check under your hood you should notice that there is no belt on the power steering pully. Both your power steering and AC compreser are connected on the same belt. If so you shouldn't worry about you don't need to put the belt on right away. This should cause no problems unless you live in Arizona where you need to have an AC to drive around in the summer. Worse cause is that you would have trouble parking you car in the parking lot and getting a good work out on your arm muscles.

there are round caps smaller than a CD on the back of the head lights you remove those to get to the bulbs. You may have to unbolt the fuse panel on the drivers side.

you can if you are talking about a complete engine change. If you are talking about bolting a turbo up to a non turbo I would'NT suggest it. Turbo's have a lower compression ratio, which means stronger pistons and connecting rods are required. It might be possible if the engine was brand new but I still would not suggest it. By the time you got the turbo and the exhaust manifold it requires for turbo to bolt to among other things like a new ecm, detonation sensor, boost sensor, gauge for the dash, etc, etc, you could go to a junk yard and find a turbo engine with everything all ready there for alot less.

Not sure what is causing your problem, but I had problem like yours and it had to do with the rotor mounting bracket and CV axle bolts. Tighten the nut on your axles in the middle of the hubs. This might fix your problem. If you need more help. Visit vfaq.com or dsmsournce.com for my help. Kendel

My 2004 takes 4.5qts for the 2.4 liter 4cyl so I would think for the other years of that engine is the same.

it doesnt take the atf, or atf+4 usual tranny fluid... TRUST ME lol bad experience when i was younger...anyways it takes 75-90, 75-85, or 80-90 gear oil.

Hyundai genuine ATF Sp III can work as well as the diamond ATF sp III. It is possible to substitute the two transmission fluids and still maintain good car performance.

It is to the left of the blowere motor housing. If you look straight at it, it's the only connection sticking right out at you.

I believe you need to drive it so the ECM relearns it's idle.

There are no spark splug wires!!! Its spar-on-coil. Jack ass!! Follow the four spark plug wires! Maybe you have a cover on your engine where the wires end up, remove it with a screwdriver and you will see the plugs. Try changing the wire for some aftermarket wired such as magnecore or spitfire for aditional horsepower!

in the fuse box! read your manual! when replacing make sure you replace the fuse with one of equal amperage (amps)
