How do you remove and replace a starter on a 1992 Olds Cutlass?
I just changed the starter on my cutlass cierra 92, and I took it just one step at a time. I disconnected the battery, then I jacked up the car and put the front on jackstands. Then under the motor just behind the radiator, you will find your starter. There is a dust cover that is held by one nut. you must remove this. It has two bolts (i used 15mm socket) and if they haven't been moved in the last 13 years get ready to use wd40 to remove them. The starter should drop as you remove them and it fits out of the space between the frame and the rad pipes. Look carefully at the wires. Only one goes on the small connecter. All the others go on the large connecter. Put the new starter back in the reverse order, and it should work.

How do you replace the alternator on a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 3.1L?
I have an 89 cutlass supreme 3.1 and it should be the same. Remove the belt from the alternator. Next, There are two bolts on top and one under it. The two bolts on top are both size 10 wrench or socket and the one on the bottom is 13. One of the bolts on top is located on the right hand side of the alternator if facing it from the passenger side fender. The other one on top is connected to a metal arm just to the right of the wire that plugs in at the top and to the left of the other bolt. Unplug the wire. The fun begins here. The easiest way I found to get the bottom bolt out was using a short ranchet with a swivel head, a short size 13 socket and lots of patience, because I was only able to get very small turns on it. There is probably an easier way but I was unable to find it. Once the bolt on the bottom is loose and you can pull it out, I had to move the metal arm out of the way, that you loosened earlier, to get the bolt out completely out. a little, have fun.
You can take the whole aluminum "plate" off rather than taking off the third, buried alternator mounting bolt. After you loosen and remove the belt take off the three nuts below the alternator that mount the mounting plate to the engine block. It will be easy to do and easier than chasing that buried bolt.
How do you fix a faulty digital instrument panel on a 93 olds cutlass supreme?
Remove the Digital Insturment Cluster from the dash. Take it apart and check the solder connections on the 14 pin IC chip located on the printed circuit board. This is the most likely cause. Resolder the pins. If that dosent work, resolder every thing on the board. Other than leaking capacitors ive never found anything wrong in these units other than broken solder connections. Usually the unit will flicker on and off depending on ambient temperature and bumps in the road or hitting the dashboard. This is due to broken solder connections on the Integrated Circuit (IC) listed above.

Whats the problem 2003 alero horn wont stop blowing?
The problem is the plastic parts integral to the airbag/horn unit in the steering column. The plastic bits contract when cold and cause the horn's switches to contact. Once it starts, the only solution is to replace that assembly, costing around $800. Good times. Sometimes it will turn off when warm, like in the dealers garage, so the problem cannot be replicated, and then the car wakes up the entire neighbourhood at 3am again until you pull the fuse. I have same problem. Relay overheats. Did you find an answer?

The camshaft sensor is behind the water pump pulley and the crank sensor is mounted just above the crank pulley(dynamic balancer). If the crank sensor is bad . The car will simply DIE. If the cam sensor is bad it will simply not have sequential injector firing and driveability and MPG will be affected.

Answerwhen the water pump pulley is removed you can see a sensor with 3 wires going to it at the top side of the crank shaft pulley. you might be able to see it with a flashlight and a mirror without removing anything. hope that's the right sensor. What would cause a 1991 Sunbird to stall right after starting?

Between 15 and 19 MPG.
I had an '86 with 307 4bbl....still computer controlled. Running a TH350 and 2:29 gears it averaged 26 MPG at 70-75 from Flagstaff, AZ to St. Louis, MO. Depends on state of engine, gears, tranny, how you drive it, etc.
