How do you fix hatchback latch on 1986 Pontiac Trans Am stuck in the down position?

I have an 89 that occasionally gets stuck in the down position.
Use a screwdriver or a butter knife or a pen.
Poke down on the bottom half of the latch (not the top part on the hatchback above your head).

Depends on the year and engine/transmission combination. Some values will continue to rise while some TAs will remain merely used cars with no redeemable collector value.

How do you change a headlight in a 1994 300zx?

If you pop the hood, on the back of the headlight housing, there are some wires with a snap on or twist on connection. If you disconnect them as you pull them out the headlight is attached to the other end of the connection. Make sure not to touch your new bulbs with your hands because the glass on a headlight bulb is designed to run at a high temperature, but the oils on your hand get hotter than the temperature they are suppose to operate and will cause them to blow or bust. If you do accidentally touch one, just wash it off with alcohol.

Why does the drivers turn signal bulb keep burning out?

The socket that the bulb sits in may be very loose, you may need to remove the bulb and crimp it with a pair of Pliers, or is the socket rusted up, it may need to be cleaned with a bit of sandpaper, check if where the bulb sits at its base, are the contacts touching the base firmly enough. Finally, are you using the correct Voltage and Wattage Bulb ? Cheers

1989 transam will not crank battery fine will not do anything?

This is not a definite answer but things to check. Neutral switch, ignition switch (on top of steering wheel under dash), key tumbler (Mine had this problem) the two little wires can disintegrate and interrupt the signal or key resistance from your anti-theft key not to be recognized by your prom (CPU). Last but not least the starter. I would jump the starter with live current to check it first. Then I would check the neutral switch. If that doesn't work drop the steering wheel buy a new ignition switch and if it still doesn't work take the car to a dealer and have them order the right key tumbler and new ignition key and install it. Mine was about $60.00 plus labor. That's after I bought everything above and a new battery ($300.00) dollars later found out it was just one little wire from the key tumbler had denigrated. Good luck.

What can be wrong with a 87 Trans Am TPI 305 that dies shortly after start up?

Check the throttle position sensor. It tells the computer what the position of the throttle is. If it's loose it can cause a problem. If not loose, measure the resistance across the mid-upper pins and then the mid-lower pin. Exercise the throttle during each measurement. Not sure what you should see for a reading off the top of my head, but it will change if the sensor is working. TPS can also cause idle to raise and lower before finally shutting down the engine. Don't know if you see those symptoms or not. or try the fuel pump and or map sensor. i had the same problem on my 93 ta. it worked

How much horsepower does the 78 Trans Am have?

Depends on which engine it is. There were 3 basic options...California not included, for the 78 T/A. The entry level Pontiac 400 and Oldsmobile 403 were rated at around 185HP. You could also order a 200HP (maybe for 78 a 220HP) 400....which basically came with a little higher compression head. I know that the 220HP was offered for '79...but it's been a while since I've looked up those specs and do not remember if the '78 was 200 or 220.

How much horsepower does the 79 Trans Am have?

Either 185 with the Olds 403 (6.6 litre) or 220 with the Pontiac 400 (T/A 6.6)

Why wont my headlights go up on my third gen trans am?

or the motors are dead...Pop the hood...turn your headlights on...is the grey/black knob just spinning? Replacing the motors is really east it's all 10mm...if it's your first time you may want to pull the whole headlight mount out just so you can get a feel for next (trust me there will be a next time) == == First open the hood and try to turn the grey knob clockwise on top of the motor it may be located under a black rubber cover if that doesn't work look at the arms attached to the inside of the head light the bolts may have come loose last but not least your gears may be stripped in that case ck out this web site! How do you change the headlight on a 1990 Mercedes 190E?

You might be asking how to change the whole headlight or one of the bulbs inside the headlight. To change the headlight completely you need screw drivers(flat&star) Open the bonnet locate and unscrew the white restraint holding the trafficator attached to the headlight you want to change. Remove this and unplug the electric cable connected to the trafficator, side the trafficator out toward the front of the car. Locate the electric cable/socket connected to the headlight and remove it from the light. Locate the screws holding the light in place, there are about 3 or 4 Note that you might have to unscrew the small body part just below the light. Once the screws are removed the light can then be taken out toward the front of the car. To change the bulbs is a much simpler process Locate the light Observe the rear of the light,it has a plastic covering which can be openned and removed by pulling up-wards the 2 metal restraining clips located on either side of the rear of the light. Once openned, you will see the bulbs, 2 large and 1 small. Each is restrained by a metal cilp and connected by cable to a socket inside the light. Depending on the one to be changed observe carefully and replace the bulb.
