Pulleys

A pulley is a mechanism composed of a wheel on an axle or shaft. A rope, or cable usually runs over the wheel and inside the groove. Pulleys are normally used to change the direction of an applied force to make the work easier. It is one of the six simple machines.

WHAT PULLEY DO I loosen to get single drive belt on?

If you are referring to the Serpentine belt, you loosen no pulley. You simply remove tension from the belt. The tension is applied by the Idler Pulley. Pry the idler back and remove the belt.

What did a washing machine look like in the 1920s?

1920's washing machines didn't have a lid. You would have to get the hose from the garden and fill the washer machine up!

Took ac compressor off now alternator pulley and fan pulley are not lined up fan pulley needs to be 1 inch further back do you know where to get an offsett pulley that will fix this problem?

I'm guessing an older rearwheel drive? You should be able to find a different pulley to go on the water pump. From a car that didn't have AC. If front wheel drive, you will probably need an idler pulley and find some way to mount it.

Where can you find a diagram for the pulleys on a 350 engine?

The diogram is usially behind the ratiator if it is not then it would be under the alternator. If you want the Serpentine Belt Routing diagram for your 350 go on www.alldatapro .com.

How many times can you have breast augmentation?

There doesn't appear to be any clear answer to this question. The only thing that everyone agrees on is that implants don't last forever. Some people recommend for safety having breast augmentation redone in as little as 5 years. Others think that 10 years should be sufficient if there are no known complications.

Did the Egyptians use pulleys for pyramids?

The ancient Egyptians in this period, it is thought, never had pulleys. They most likely used inclined planes, ramps made from rubble mixed with clay to raise the block to the desired level. The blocks themselves were placed on sledges and dragged up the ramp by gangs of slaves. The bigger the block the more slaves it took. The blocks were put in their final position by the use of levers and brute force.

How do you install a power steering pump in a 1999 mercury tracer?

first thing is you need to pull off the belts, and yes all of then because the stering belt in behind the others. then there is two bolts holding the pump so remove them and then just remove the high and low pressure lines and your done.

How many different types of pie are there and can you name them all?

-Pecan

-Key lime

-Apple

-Pumpkin

-Blueberry

-Lemon Meringue

-Strawberry Rhubarb

-Banana Cream

-Boston Cream

-Walnut

-Cherry

-Blackberry

-Shoo fly pie

-Pineapple pie- is there such thing?

-Custard

-Mango

-Kumquat pie- don't know if there is such thing but I bet it would be good

-Mince Meat

-Chicken Pot Pie

-Sweet Potato Pie

That makes 20, but there is a LOT more, I know. If I find out anymore, I'll come back and edit this!

How do you know when your pulley is bad?

All pullies have bearing in them.Grab the pulley and try to move it up and down.Excess play means bad pulley.Watch pulley to see if it turns free and true.

What is a machine pulley on a sewing machine?

The belt usually refers to a rubberized small belt that runs from the motor-shaft to a shaft that moves the needle. It looks like a fat rubber-band. On the older machines, it was clearly visible on the turn wheel. The newer machines have them hidden inside the machine. Depending on your particular machine, you may be able to change them yourself. Some, however, require changing by a repair man.

How do you replace idler pulley on 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The idler pulley is located just under the A/C compressor. There is a bolts in the middle of the pulley that needs to be removed and the idler pulley can be removed. Sometimes these bolts stick and my need to be pryed off. You may also want to removed the radiator fans cow to give you some extra room.

How do you know if o2 sensor is bad?

These days most garages/ dealers plug in a diagnostic computer which tells you theres a problem with the O2 sensor. Without checking physically yourself this is the only way. A dodgy O2 sensor can damage your catalytic convertor, which could work out very costly to replace. If you think theres a problem with your O2 sensor I'd get it checked sooner rather than later.

How many times can you take 7 out of 47?

No, 7 does not go into 47 a whole number of times.

How do you remove the crankshaft pulley in a 1993 Geo Metro LSi 3 Cylinder?

There is a large metric bolt right (17 or 18mm) in the center of the main crank pulley. Immobilize the crank using a vise-grip equiped with a locking chain. Wrap an old fan belt (cut-to-size) around the crank and protect the serpentine gooves of the crank pulley, then wrap the vise chain and clamp onto the crank. Use a good breaker bar, or impact hammer to break the bolt torque free counter-clockwise. Note: Don't remove the four 10mm bolts on the crank pulley. The whole thing comes off as one assemble piece.

How can density help you in real life?

Density has its connection with buoyancy. The ability of an object to "float" when it is placed in a fluid is called buoyant force. If an object is less dense than the fluid in which it is placed, it will "float" on the fluid. If it is more dense than the fluid, it will "sink." For example:

Metal ships can float because their total density is less than that of the water that they float on.

How do Pulleys help?

Pulley used for change direction of the force, e.g. pull the weight up is change direction form pulling up to pulling down. Pulley arrangement can use to reduce the load require to lift object, e.g. fix rope to wall and put load hanging on pulley and pull 1 end so the wall support half of the load.

See link for more detail.

What year did Archimedes invent the pulley?

Archimedes invented the screw because there was a hole in one of the ships and water was leaking everywhere. He used it to lift the water up from the boat and through to the other side.

What are some everyday uses of pulleys?

to pull something

But more accurately, each pulley utilized reduces the necessary force by 50%. Ergo, a 100-lb. load would only require 50-lbs of force to lift. On sailing vessels, sometimes the line feeds through a pulley system 5 times. That's alot of force reduction.

-They also make a great throwing weapon to ward off pirates.

Where else are pulleys used?

assuming that your question is what jobs are pulleys used for... then the answer is any job that you need to lift something that is heavy.

The pulley give a mechanical advantage when used together with other pulleys to apply more force to move the object

Did the Egyptians invent the first pulley?

yes they did they did i have a history degree.

Sorry but the first pulley was not invented by the Egyptians it was invented by Archimedes of Syracuse in around 250 BCE.

Who uses pulleys?

Many people use pulleys in their jobs. The rides like Supreme scream, which go vertically up and down have pulleys in them. Elevators have pulleys in them, and people who ship cargo use pulleys in their cranes.

What is the history of the pulley?

the pulley was invented in ancient Sicily around 250 BC.

The ancient Egyptian wooden four lobe pinion pulley was used to construct the Giza Pyramids around 2600 BC.

This pulley surrounds its load and is unlike anything in the modern world.

It operates with a mechanical advantage of 2.8 (MA=2.8) on the CLASS 2 lever principle.

When hoisted the pulley with load rotates and climbs stepped structures with positive engagements of pulley lobes with steps.

This is earliest machine known using "rack and pinion" mechanical technology.
