Why does paint on metal crack usually?
There are many different types of paint. Also, metal is a non-porous surface, mostly - you can increase its porosity (or absorption, ability to hold paint) by sanding or otherwise roughing up the surface so the paint "grabs" better and has less probability of cracking. Temperature and other outside variables can also cause your paint to crack, depending on the type of paint, how it was applied, etcetera. Go get some paint that is specifically designed for metal, rough the surface up with some sandpaper or steel wool (rough stuff, not fine, you won't get anywhere with fine grit/wool) - make sure the surface is clean, paint it with some proper primer (or at least wipe it down with some alcohol) and then paint it - you should see nice results, given the metal in question isn't going to be flexing, bending, or taking excessive pressure - in that case, then really, there's nothing you can do - just sand it down and keep it bare metal.
What kind of electric fan sits behind the radiator on the drivers side?

If the radiator fan does not come on what is the problem?
the system works like this. The eng has a thermo switch, which sences coolent temps around 185 to 195 fer. it produces a closed circut, which then applys voltage to the rad fan relay. which then handle lots more current, i.e amps. could be a number of things, like thermostat, bad rad cap, thermo switch, fuse, relay, defective fan. or low on coolent. Why should a water cooling system be pressurized?

Why are your radiator hoses rock hard when your engine is hot?
Your Car Hase A Closed Cooling System. So Your Hoses Will Feel Hard While The System Is Hot. When It Cools They Should Be Somewhat Soft Without Cracks In Them Or Deteration. If They Are You Need To Have All Hoses Checked And Replaced As Required. More Engines Are Destroyed By Overheating Than Oil Loss By Far. Best To You
If the top hose gets hot that means that the thermostat HAS opened. Thermostats remain closed until the engine warms up then the thermostat only opens enough to keep the temperature at about the set-point temperature of the thermostat. Just repair the radiator and enjoy the vehicle.
What are the four that antifreeze does when added to the cooling system?
Antifreeze:
If there is not a radiator cap on a 1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo where do you put the water?

A coolant additive that seals some external leaks and closes off internal coolant passageways including stopping flow in a radiator or heater core.
There are different products for different applications. There is a radiator leak sealer which uses "organic material" to seal leaks, and a head gasket/block sealer that uses sodium silicate to solidify under high temperature.
Where is the radiator drain petcock on a 2000 Chevy Malibu?
It is possible this vehicle doesnt have one. If it does it will be at the bottom part of the radiator on the back side either on the left or right side. They move them during different years. If you cant find it then just disconnect the lowest hose and drain it that way. Sometimes it is easier that trying to find it. It does the same thing and usually more fluid comes out this way. I also usually fill it back up with water and then run the engine up to operating temp and then redrain. This will further flush the system. Then refill the coolant. Good luck. It is located under front splash sheild,on drivers side of the radiater!! check this area and you will find it.

How do you replace radiator fan switch fan not working 92 Lebaron V6?
First, there is a fan relay mounted under a black plastic cover on the drivers side inner fender. There is also a "coolant temp sensor" which tells the computer to turn on the fan. This is mounted on top of the engine, next to the thermostat housing. It simply unscrews to replace it. Before changing it tho' check that the fan is working. With the engine running, pull the connector off the coolant temp sensor, the fan should start working. If not then the fan motor or the fan relay are faulty.
