What should you do if you tried radiator sealant but your car is still leaking antifreeze?
Check the hoses and around the clamps to see if it is possibly leaking from there. Radiator sealer works fine on small leaks. If all else looks good you are on the way to have your rad repaired.(also check around the water pump, when they go they leak bad!!) if the sealant doesn't work and you can see where the leak is coming from, then remove the radiator, if necessary, drain it. you then need to clean the area where the leak is with a wire brush and alcohol. then get a small plumbers torch and some resin core solder and seal the leak. if that doesn't work you may have to have it recored or buy another one.
Where is the fuse located for radiator fan on a 87 vw cabriolet?
Fuse/relay panel is under the dash, driver's side. Radiator cooling fan is fuse #1.
Answerfuse box is under the dash by your left knee while seated...also this vehicle has a FAN SWITCH located on the radiator...when it goes bad the fan doesn't come on and she overheats, kind of like my girlfriend when i don't switch her on..sorry it's early...
ok..so if it's overheating, it could also be time for a head gasket...there are alot of checks to do, all the basics are in the book...
check the COOLING SYSTEM... check for MILKY OIL (head gasket)... check the FUSES...
check the FAN SWITCH electrical circuit...
read up on basics...:)
a manual will help with diagnosis and repair, and a shop manual should be available at the local library in the reference section for FREE, make copies of the right pages, good luck...:)
How do you drain the radiator on a 1992 Chevy Silverado?
If your truck doesn't have a drain plug on the radiator, just remove the lower hose and place a container underneath to catch the coolant. there should be a petcock on one of the lower corners of the radiator. it would more than likely be on the engine side (as opposed to the front of the radiator). with the engine cold, remove the radiator cap, then unscrew the petcock. catch the coolant in some sort of container as it is illegal to dump it into the environment. its also very toxic to animals.

Why would your car smoke from the radiator cap if the cap is on all the way?
Either the cap is defective or too much pressure is building up in the system. I would replace the cap is it does not appear to be overheating. answer you have a defective radiator cap replace with a new one with same pressure rating as old one
Most radiators on these new models do not have drain plugs, especially if it's an aftermarket taiwanese radiator. If you have not found one after looking for it, your best bet is to drain it by removing the hose that leads to the water pump.
How do you replace the radiator on a 1996-1999 Taurus - Sable?
Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove battery. Remove battery tray. Remove clip retaining constant control relay module and position module aside. Remove radiator cap. Raise vehicle front end as high as possible. Remove radiator splash shield. Drain radiator. Remove the radiator mounting bracket assembly. Remove lower radiator hose. Partially lower vehicle. Raise vehicle. Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube clips. Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube. Remove transmission oil cooler bracket and position transmission oil cooler aside. Remove lower A/C condenser core bolts and position A/C condenser core aside(be careful not to loosen the AC condenser lines. Remove radiator support bracket. Remove radiator out through the bottom of the vehicle.
Installation Position radiator. Position radiator support bracket and tighten nuts. Position A/C condenser core and tighten lower A/C condenser core bolts. Position transmission oil cooler tube and install transmission oil cooler tube bracket. Install lower transmission oil cooler tube. Install lower transmission oil cooler tube clips. I have been told that the front bumper needs to be removed in order to remove the radiator. I am having a cooling problem with my 1996 Taurus also. I was told this by a service tech while explaining why it was going to cost $180.00 in labor costs alone. Hope this helps.
From the bottom. Unfortunately, you'll need to remove the AC condenser as well.

From underneath. Unfortunately, you'll also need to move the AC condenser lines out of the way too, meaning that you'll need to pull the AC condenser and drain the refrigerant.
Next step after this would be to replace the radiator pressure cap, check ALL hoses for deterioration and leaks, check the coolant resevior bottle for leaks, and all connections to it. Check the drain plug and make sure it's snug in the bottom of radiator. Also, you may need a new water pump. Good Luck! I agree about the water pump, even if it seems as if it is working it will give poor circulation and cause overheating when pressurized until the bearings finally go out completely. but check the pressure cap first it is the most obvious and cheapest option, if it is bad when the system builds pressure and heat it will allow coolant to pass freely into the reservoir, but not draw it back in.
