Did they have portable radios in the 30s?
The vast majority of radios in the 1930s were very large console radios. They had heavy wooden cabinets and looked like furniture.
But they did also have portable battery operated radios too. They used a 1.5V dry cell to power the tube filaments and a 45V to 150V dry battery to power the tube plates. These batteries alone might weigh 1 to 2 pounds, so although the radios were portable they were not light weight. Also as these radios used fewer tubes than the console radios did, they usually had lower sensitivity, selectivity, and "extra features" so could not pick up as many stations or receive as many bands or produce as good sound or support "magic eye" tuning, etc.

Will someone provide the radio code for 1996 Acura RL 3.5 please?
You can call Acura and they will give you the appropriate code for your radio if you provide them the radio's serial number SN.
You can obtain the SN relatively easy. There is a non-use "button" between the fog light and rear-window defroster buttons. Pop that off with a small screwdriver (I was able to pop it off just with my finger). Shine a flashlight in and you can read the SN off the bottom of the radio.
Call Acura's customer service number (800) 382-2238 and they will be able to help you. If you did not purchase your vehicle from an Acura dealership you will need to provide them proof of ownership; they will ask you to fax a copy of your registration and driver's license.

How do you remove a 1994 Plymouth sundance radio?
First you need to remove the ashtray (pull it open and push down on the little tab on the top and pull it out) then you have to pry on the trim. Do this slowly as you could break it. it will take a good pull. (it's just clipped on) then remove the moulding that goes around the astray/lighter area. This is done by removing 4 screws (2 on the top sides and 2 located on the bottom at the back. look close they're there) then you will have free access to the 2 bolts holding in the radio. nothing really tricky about it except trying not to break the first trim piece.
How do you install a replacement radio on a 1994 Lincoln Mark VIII?
Assuming it is the same as my '93, i used Allen wrenches to release the little clips that hold the factory unit in. There is a special tool, but I managed to get the clips undone fairly easily. You could also go by a car audio place with the car and they would likely have the tool and help you out. I went to a car audio shop and bought the correct wire harness kit to plug the aftermarket unit in. It's best to kind of have someone around who knows what they are doing, or just have it professionally installed. Sometimes trying to save $50 can cost you more in the long run!
I would say that a door ajar switch is either bad or come diconnected. It is the little button looking thing on the hing side of the door. Play with it maybe even put a little silicone spray on it. The radio sounds like the antenna isn't working. Make sure the anttenna wire is connected at both the antenna on the outside and at the back of the radio.

How do you set the time on the sdi technologies hh211 alarm clock?
You need to take the top plate off. There's two small Phillips head screws on the back of the radio. Remove the top screw and the top plate lifts off. There is one toggle switch that says "Lock Off On". Toggle the switch to Off to unlock the time of day. There is a small button next to it that says "Time Set". Press it once and the time of day will start blinking. Press the "Alarm Time" buttons on the front of the radio forwards or backwards to set the correct time of day. Once the time is correct, move the toggle switch back to On to lock the time in and replace the top cover. I had to pull off the "Jazz" and "Pop" button tops to clearly see the time of day toggle switch and time set buttons. They just sit on top of the actual buttons so replace them prior to replacing the top cover. I'm in a Hilton at the Ft. Lauderdale airport and the top screw was missing. Looks like the maintenance guys have to come by pretty often to correct the time and lost the screw the last time they did it.

Do yourself a favor. If you are planning to install an aftermarket radio, buy yourself a radio wiring hardness that will fit into the factory wiring hardness. It will cost under $20.00. And it will save you lost of headaches in the future. No short, or problems... Remove Stock Ford Radio To remove the radio you will need a "Radio Removal Tool". This is a "U" shaped pin with a dent at the end. This can be commonly found at auto parts stores or, WalMart, etc (widely available for $3-$4). The radio has two holes in each end (four holes total) · Insert the removal tool into the holes on each side (This will release the catches holding the radio into the dash) · Slide the radio toward you The link below gives instructions for radio removal and includes photos http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/FLM/PDF/356007.pdf You can also make your own removing tool from a wire coat hanger: cut 2 U-shaped pieces (about 8" each) and insert them into the 2 holes in the front of your head unit; using a sideways motion and pulling towards you will do the trick, just be carefull when inserting the tool to not scratch the finish on the unit. I tried the wire hangar solution but went and bought the tool anyway. Either would probably work, but the tool is a bit more sturdy / stiff. Here are the instructions that come with the tool: * Disconnect negative battery wire * Insert the removal tool into the holes on either side of the faceplate * Push the tools forward about 1 inch until the retaining clips are released * Grasp the tools tightly and pull apart slightly as you pull the unit from the dash
