In CT do you have to lock the garage door or is the car off limits to the repo man simply by being in the garage?

Cant go in a locked door in ANY state legally. They will just get the police to come open the door with a court order. Make your payments and if you can't, talk to the lender. They do not want to repo the car.

AnswerThey will not come with a police order....if they could they wouldn't waste timepaying repo guys.Just because it is against the law don't think the repo guyswon't do it.If they do break in and get the car it doesn't matter how they got itit is now the banks. You can sue the bank for the break in but you still don'thave the car back. And by the way the banks do want to repo that's why they do it. AnswerActually they DO NOT want to repo your car. This is because normally you owe more on the car than they could get for it at auction. They will repo it if they feel that that they cannot recover money for it, or if they are a buy here/pay here place. Finally, they CANNOT enter a garage locked or otherwise. If they do, they are in violation. You should try to work with the company.

How do you start a trucking business in Georgia?

First contact the state of incorporation because there's a legal process to starting a business regardless of what it is. Then you have to consult with the DMV to get the necessary license for your business since you will be operating as a fleet and you will need a CDL license if you're driving. Plus anyone you hire to work for you should have a clean driving record that's free of accidents and DUI/DWIs and do some research on different insurance companies and get estimates for fleet insurance. First and foremost you need to decide is your trucking company going to be local or cross country, but company is based out of Georgia. Sit down and start planning how you are going to do this. If you have questions regarding the licensing of trucks call the Department of Transportation and the DMV to get your questions answered of what you need in terms of paperwork to file for licensing a fleet. Then you also have to look at the cost of purchasing a fleet of trucks usually Ford can get you an estimate of what it will cost to purchase a fleet and you want to also ask how often do fleets have to change and get new vehicles because if you're running a trucking company your trucks will run more mileage than the average car depending on the kind of trucking your company will be doing. It all really depends on how you want it because it could be a semi or a regular truck. Just do your homework and let everything else fall into place. You may also need to contact the FMCSA to determine if you need to obtain an MC number, DOT number and BOC-3 Processing Agent. There is a web site that I know of where you can have them complete these activities for you for a fee. You will also need minimum insurance limits based on federal requirements. The link to the FMCSA is http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/. Good luck. Your state insurance department is your best resource for insurance-related questions and concerns. Find information on insurance companies and agents, rate quotes and comparisons, insurance buying tips, claims filing information and much more!

How do you save part of a mp3 file?

You could open the song you want to cut from into a program such as Wavepad (type name into download.com for a version), or audacity - both of which can be downloaded for free. Then cut out the bits that you don't want, and resave the file as a .mp3.

How do you get a lien removed if you withheld final payment to your builder because during every rainstorm your living room ceiling and light fixtures leaked and the builder put a lien on your house?

Bad thing is, you just can't get the lien removed. Good thing is, there is some sort of construction defect. Now, most General Liability policies to do cover construction defect, but, you should get his insurance information (which you might have to file a lawsuit) and file a claim on his insurance. Hopefully, he has something in place to cover the construction defect, or he is forced to repair it. I would be questioning the fact of who inspected the home. That is another avenue. If they inspected the home and passed it and it is leading like that, then there is the option of professional liability claim on the inspector.

Can a co-buyer voluntarily surrender there rights to a car if the buyer is deceased?

Check the small print on your contract first.

Commonly if two people take out a joint loan and one of them dies, the other would be liable for the outstanding balance if there is not an insurance policy on the transaction, redundancy, death, critical injury etc.

How can you retrieve personal belongings left in your ex-boyfriends apt but he refuses?

If the break up has only been recent, chances are, you won't. Try giving it a couple of days and then ask your ex nicely if he would be willing to return your things, after all its the most decent thing to do. Now the question here is... Is it really worth all your time and not to mention your aggravation? Of course if we're talking about really expensive stuff here, well what are you waiting for?

Answer

I think the best way so as not to get into it with him is to go get an order from the court or visit your sherrifs office for asstance.

ANSWER
If you want your stuff - get it! That is what a Dad or big brother is for they live for this stuff. If need be the police can be an escort in a situation such as this.

Try bringing some friends with you....or your parents...if that approach dousnt work that you should call the police...if he has your stuff and he wont give it back its entirely within your rights to do whatever necessary to get it back.

Can a rental car agency keep your personal belongings that were in car when repossessed?

If you returned the car to the agency in a legal fashion, then no. That is, if you simply forgot something in the car at the end of your rental.

But if the car was repossessed from you due to criminal activity involving the rental car, that's something you need to talk to the police about. The police would have seized the car initially and impounded it. Anything in the car would have been considered evidence and searched.

Once the police are done with the car, it is given back to the owner (the rental agency) with whatever was left inside it.

I have never personally heard of anyone attempting to reclaim possessions from a car in such a situation. Usually when we get such a car back (we call it a "conversion"), there's nothing left but junk and trash.

What is the length of time creditors have to tell you about a repossession?

Well depending on what state your in it varys. They have to send a letter to you stating you have defaulted on your loan and are going to be repossessing your auto. Depending on who you financed it thru you may have signed that away. at some car lots they can repo your car even if your only one day late because you signed that agreement. Always read any contract you sign with a fine tooth comb.

Cant afford car payments anymore?

whatever you do, don't let it get reposessed or voluntarily give it up. Your credit will be ruined for 7 years and you will still have to pay the difference between what they sell the car for vs. what you owe on the loan. If you don't owe that much more than it's worth try trading it in on a cheaper car and roll the difference onto your new loan. You'll be paying for it longer but your payments will probably be a lot less. Or sell it yourself (you'll get a lot more) and pay the difference to the finance company out of your pocket. If you owe a lot more than it's worth you're just going to have to suck it up and make the payments. If you don't you will regret it.

How can a co-buyer take possession of a truck when the primary borrower is not making the payments?

When someone co-signs, they are basically just agreeing to making the payments when the signer can not. * Any legal rights that a cosigner or a co-buyer(borrower) have depend upon whether or not their name is on the title to the vehicle.

Can you repossess a car if the person who bought it from you still owes you money for the car and you still have all the paperwork?

Your state may have other requirements that you have to meet to do so. At the very least, you need a loan contract that perfects the security agreement.

Where can you find free reverse auto license plate search?

That isn't something that the public can do, as far as actually accessing government records.

However, there are sites where people can post information about a license plate and information they have observed associated with it. One of them is dialmylicenseplate.com.

It is similar to those sites where you can post a phone number and say that it was a telemarketer or prank caller, to inform other people about it.

Should you get your car emissions tested before you sell it?

Only if you live in an emissions state, such as CA. If the car appears to be functioning properly, just advise the buyer of your knowledge of the vehicle. They are accepting responsibility after purchase. For your peace of mind, sure why not get it checked. It's usually free at your local Highway Patrol Office. I would check your local state law first.
