the best way to get the most out of the fuel you pump into your truck is to keep your engine in top shape. preventative maint. is the key. regular oil changes, regular emissions system checks, fuel filter check, ect.. should eliminate most problems. i recommend purchasing a repair manual, either chilton's, or haynes specific to your truck. it is written in easy to understand language and shows you how to perform basic as well as more advanced repair procedures. shows in detail all of your trucks' systems as well as emissions diag. trouble codes, wiring diagrams, engine overhaul and of course basic tune ups. sensible driving habits always help too.

Yes, any engine can be turbocharged, building your own is complex, I would try and find a kit avail. for your yr/make/model/engine.

Temperature drops about 200-300f at full throttle/underload as it masses through the turbo. Under light load/cruising it can dropas much as 500f before/after the turbine.

The Toyota 5VZ-FE 3.4L V6 is the easiest engine to swap into this vehicle. It is found in the T100, 3rd generation 4Runner, and 1st generation Tacoma.

if you put a turbo in front the engine or just behind you will get maxium power put it under your car the faster you go the more air that gos under ur car and as the turbos work on air input u will get most power

Timing marks on the gears are aligned with marks on the belt. I have seen a Chinese made belt that had the timing marks on the wrong side of the belt so if it just doesn't seem that things are aligning properly, try transferring the marking to the other side of the belt, flip it over, and try again.

The most common and normal signs will be:

* Oil leakage from the supercharger * Supercharger making a knocking noise * Lower or no boost pressure * Oil not present inside the supercharger

Turbochargers are more fuel efficient, as they do not put a load on the engine except when accelerating. Even then they create mush less drag than a supercharger, which uses a direct mechanical hookup instead of waste gases to produce its rotational energy. When it comes to power boost, however, superchargers have the advantage as they supply more boost at lower rpm's and can boost to higher manifold pressures than turbos.

If you are talking about an intercooler (never heard of an after cooler) the hot exhaust coming out of the cylinders is cycles through the intercooling to cool the exhaust before its cycled through the turbo.

There is nothing illegal about fitting a turbocharger as long as the engine doesn't exceed any local emissions regulations.

A low boost setup should be safe for most engines, although some vehicles may require strengthening of engine components (rods & pistons being a common point of failure). A turbo forces more air into the engine, and this air will require extra fuel - therefore, an upgraded fuel pump and injectors may also be required, or the engine may lean out and suffer from detonation. The increased torque produced from the boosted engine may also wreak havoc with the clutch and gears. If high boost operation is desired, these components should be upgraded as well.

Regardless of the kit, additional stresses will be placed upon the engine so factory level reliability (if that exists for the particular vehicle) can no longer be guaranteed. Vehicles turbocharged from the factory tend to respond better to aftermarket kits better than normally aspirated vehicles.

A turbo usually adds around 10-100 hp, lets say 45. A turbo could be fitted to any car engine, and they already have an amount of hp so it could be anything. There is no proper answer.

Swap it for the 4g63. Unless you just want a little boost. Do your math if you stick with the gs engine. You could bolt on the charger and then do the swap after you break something.;-)

If u really like the 420a u can jus turbo it...or take it apart drop compression etc....and try to break the 661 whp record ...but no u cant swap it the 4g63 wont fit in the same mounting places

Boost is positive pressure in the manifold, so you only see boost when you give the gas pedal heavy load. The best way to check the boost pressure is to connect a vacuum hose to a boost gauge. This will tell you the exact boost pressure when you are in wide open throttle.

you can if you are talking about a complete engine change. If you are talking about bolting a turbo up to a non turbo I would'NT suggest it. Turbo's have a lower compression ratio, which means stronger pistons and connecting rods are required. It might be possible if the engine was brand new but I still would not suggest it. By the time you got the turbo and the exhaust manifold it requires for turbo to bolt to among other things like a new ecm, detonation sensor, boost sensor, gauge for the dash, etc, etc, you could go to a junk yard and find a turbo engine with everything all ready there for alot less.
