It depends on the year of the beetle. If I remember correctly 1999-2004 engines have the 1.8 Turbo. Those same years also have 2.0L Non turbo, and the 1.9L Turbo Diesel. I believe after 2005 they stop making the turbo beetle completely and give them a 2.5 L engine. The other models of the VW brand still come turbo, just not the Beetle.

There was probably dirt in the bottom of your tank that clogged the fuel filter when it ran dry. This is very common. Take out your fuel filter, drain any gas that might be left in the tank, replace the filter and refill the tank.

It won't, even a mixture of gasoline and diesel will not work.

May I add that running petrol in a diesel will destroy that diesel engine.

Exhaust squeal is due to old or worn exhaust tubes

The fuse is located inside a panel on the left end of the dash board. Open the driver side door and look at the edge of the dash. Use a screw driver to pry open the panel at the notch. There should be a guide inside the panel that labels each fuse.

The proper fuel pressure for 2000 VW Beetle 2.0 is 44 psig. The pressure per square inch while the engine running is 39 .

Having this problem with changing rear brake pads on new Beetle. Could not get piston to return to a position that would accomodate the new pads. VW dealer was fat lot of use - said I should loosen the cap on master cylinder reservoir. Have now discovered that there is a special tool - because the piston must be pushed in AND rotated at the same time. Saw pic of tool on dieselgeek.com/golf_iv_main.php - it cost $49, and seems to be usable on most VW and Audi calipers. There is a special nut with two spigots which engage in the slots on the piston surface allowing rotation to be enforced. Looks like you would rotate the piston first and then compress it to required position. Have not bought tool.

yes... If you place the transfer case in neutral. The problem with towing automatic transmission vehicles, is that the transmission is not operating, therefore the pump is not pumping fluid throughout the tranny. This results in melted seals & seized brass bushings, because the output shaft is turning, but no oil is present. However, the transfer case is located after the tranny. Placing the transfer case in neutral will disengage the tranny from the drivetrain, and the truck will free-roll. On 2 wheel drive vehicles, you would have to remove the driveshaft & plug the tail of the tranny with a plastic shipping plug (prevents fliud leakage)

The above answer is correct, but if you simply unbolt the driveshaft to the rear wheels, wrap the universal joint with duct tape and secure the drive shaft to the frame or exhaust with sturdy wire, you can tow it a jillion miles without harm. This saves having to pull the drive shaft from the tranny or obtaining a shipping plug as he suggests.

most brake switches have a method to adjust the position of the switch. check to see. it it dose, make the adjustment, and continue adjusting until the problem is resolved. the other possiblity is that the mounting bracket for the switch was bent at some point. hope it helps. duboff

My 2000 altima w/280k miles just had replacement water pump installed. Definitely recommend a new pump vs rebuilt. Pump is $55.00 w/ 2 hours labor @ $60./ hr. Good time to check/replace belts, repl hoses, antifreeze. I'm mechanical but bought pump at NADA and took car and pump to my mechanic. It is a down and under exercise I did not want to do. Also have 2000 Max that is putting me in the poorhouse. Altima almost as good as my last HOnda.

Well aside from skimming it off which simply involves using a ladle placed slowly down into the soup until just the grease pours slowly down over the lip of the ladle, you can use paper towels or bread (although that's not economical). The best way is to go to a cookin or grocery store like Safeway or Raleys/Knobb Hill Foods and buy a grease separating measuring cup. Then just spoon the grease in and pour the soup out!

usually, the 3rd number of the vin correspond to the year of the vw. In this case, it would be 1977.

Make sure when you put your top down that the convertible picture disappears on the display and the clock and temperature are showing. Sometimes the top will appear to be all the way down but for some reason the sensor gets hung up and the car will beep. Just put the top up a little and then all the way down like I said. Should take care of the problem. I hope so for you, otherwise, yikes, another repair!
