Your '02 Passat deck lid won't latch you shut it and it does not grab the warning light informs you your baggage compartment is open but no matter how firmly you close the lid it doesn't latch?

Congratulations - you have a short in the electronic locking mechanism. Probably also causing your interior lights to stay on and problems with the alarm? Good luck - my VW dealer in Richmond, VA took three tries to get this repair right, but then again they are morons.

AnswerI just received a new latch and am going to see if that fixes things. My alarm doesn't give the 'armed' sound if the deck isnt' latched but my interior lights are not stuck on (at least). AnswerHey, let me in on this one! I have an 2001.5 GLX with the same issue. I am starting to hear that beep in my dreams now! Add in the fog lights that decided to stop working, the high price of gas and now the trunk! But I still love it regardless, so has anyone had any luck with fixing this? Thanks! AnswerHi. I had this thing driving me insane as well. I found on mine that it was the rear load cover that was not allowing the door to shut and grab the second stage of the locking catch. With the load cover still in place, but turning the handle-flap down towards the floor, it now shuts properly (with a nice clunk sound) and the alarm doesn't go off at all. Hope this helps... AnswerHere's how I fixed mine:
  1. You need to remove the carpet liner of the trunk. The carpet and the hard black plastic strip on the front edge are actually all one piece.
    • First remove the two screws that are "hidden" inside an indentation on the inner part of the trunk, just behind the two rubber bumpers (you do not need to remove the rubber bumpers!). These take a "star" screwdriver bit.
    • Pry the carpet and black plastic away from the trunk lid. It takes a bit of work, but eventually the whole thing will just pop off (No screws on this 2002 Passat, vs. other VW models).
  2. Remove the latch mechanism using a 10mm wrench.
  3. Carefully pop out the wire connecting the soleniod to the latch
  4. Remove the black plastic cover from around the latch by popping it off of the two pins on the bottom; it then "unwraps" from the latch mechanism.
  5. I found that a small spring inside the mechanism had broken; using a couple of bar-b-que skewers, I replaced with a small rubber-band.
  6. Reverse the above steps to replace the black cover, the wire, the mechanism assembly and finally the carpet liner. You'll need to give the liner a pretty good whack to pop it back in.

This sounds more complicated than it really is. Toughest part was finding a small enough rubber-band :-).

Windscreen fog problem in vw passat?

When i have a few people in my car

(when i say few i mean more than me) i cant see anyting out of my windscreen or my side windows...

Even if i put my blowers on the windscreen and on full whack i can only see in about the bottom 4 inches of the windscreen which means i have to drive like an old granny

any ideas on what i can do or how i can solve this problem??

Chances are when you were having this problem, it was cold outside. That many people in the car breathing out moisture causes this when the moisture comes close to the window and condenses onto the windows causing the fog. If you have a recirculation button, turn it off as it is recycling the moist air in the car. The recirc button is for the air conditioning. Once that is off, the heater will draw cool dry air from outside, through the heater, which will clear the fog. It will work even faster if you open the front windows an inch. If you always drive with atleast one window open a half inch, you should never get fog or frost inside the windows.

Where is the ECM reset button on a 1999 Subaru Outback Impreza?

There is no reset button. The computer is reset by repairing whatever tripped the CE light, and then using a scan tool to reset the light. Reset the light without repairing the problem and the light will just come back on.

Sequential blow off valve?

Ok a BOV is a device "down the line" after the turbo to release air pressure in the intake after it reaches a predetermined value. There is several different types and ways they can be hooked up but the sequential BOV is valve type BOV with a primary and a secondary valve that helps with keeping the condition better and helps with sending out just "enough" air to make sure you don't run super rich.

How do you disable egr valve on a 1996 VW Passat TDI?

You should have VAG COM diagnosis equipment,or some another, which could allow you to make communication with ECU.Once you enter to Engine Control Unit ,you should log in by entering 12233,and then you should go to adaptation, and in group 3,EGR group, increase value from 32768 to 33768 and save it as value,it will turn your egr valve off,and give your ECU information to increase amount of O2 as well as fuel in it's a/f mixture, which will increase power of your engine.Afterward it's good to make test driving in order to check behaviour of MAP sensor,so if doesn't go above 2400mBar measured pressure, you can leave it in that position,it will not turn your Turbocharger off.

How do you replace the indicator bulb on a 2002 fiesta lx?

Front indicator bulbs - remove the complete headlight unit - see 'related answers' for this.

Rear indicator bulbs - unfasten the rear light unit which is held in by a big plastic wing-nut on the inside. Lift the hatch and reach in behind the light unit. You will feel a hole in the trim and inside it a plastic wing-nut. Unscrew that and the rear light unit will come loose but will still be retained by two plastic pegs, top and bottom, on the outside. Get a firm grip of the light unit with both hands and give a sharp tug to release the plastic pegs. The light unit will now hang on its wiring. Bulb holders are twist-and-turn.

Mine certainly does. No dash lights. Passenger side power window quit working a few days ago. Interior light doesn't come on when driver's door opened, but it does for other doors. A bunch of minor stuff.

My son has a 93 GLS and (crossed fingers) no problems yet.

What is the problem if ABS and brake lights on the dashboard in VW Passat light up?

I had a similar problem except that with mine the ABS and ESP lights were on. Suggestions on the internet was that the ABS pump needs to be changed and the cost is around £1000. However a friend of mine diagnosed the fault as follows using diagnostic equipment: 1) ECU does not know/is not allerted when the brakes are applied He suggested putting a new brake switch 2) Left speed sensor giving innacurate data. He suggested a good clean of the sensor but mainly the area around the sensor. After cleaning the area around the sensor, the ABS/ESP lights remained on. However upon fitting a new switch all lights on the dash board was off and the car is fine. My mate mentioned that people are too quick to start changing parts on a car when the actual problem is a very simple one. A new sensor if I had changed would have cost me £110!!
