Your problem is a broken linkage arm, that runs from the wiper motor, to the wper arm. This is located under the cowl. Look down into the grill under the lower edge of the windshield, and you will see the arm. This is NOT something that you should try to fix, yourself. You need a shop to do this repair for you.

Not necesary a bloken arm, could be a loose arm. There is an assembly part betwen two arms and it's a press-assembly so maybe its just a loose part. Let me guess, it's the driver side wiper, right?

i had that same problem in my 1996 Nissan altima. it happened to the driver side wiper.. what i did was i went under the hood and pulled up that rubber piece over the shield that keeps the leaves, etc, from getting into the car. then i undid the nuts that held the plastic piece down. then i saw that the metal had rusted and the end of the arm was no longer screwed on. i fixed it once with a ziptie but the arm cut through that after 2 weeks. then i went to home depot and bought a round metal thing that screws on to pipes to hold them together. i held the arm to a piece of metal above it and then i took a tube of grease (some sort of car grease that costed like 4$ or maybe less) and i squeezed it all in there to stop it from making a horrible scraping sound. it sounded bad for the first few days that i used my wipers but now it sounds fine and it works perfect. its a cheap 6$ fix. it only took about 15 minutes to do it.

The 2004 Toyota RAV4 takes 22" drivers side 19" passenger side replacement windshield wiper blades. Note, when buying windshield wiper blades be sure to always use the application guide book at the store, or now-a-days you can Google 'lookup wiper size'. You want to look this up because correct wiper fit is more than correct length, it's also proper attachment. Not all attachments fit all arms. Using the application guide or looking up wiper size online will avoid headaches of buying the right lengths with the wrong attachments.

It also takes a special 12" rear wiper blade for the special rear arm. Your dealer will have them (may be expensive) or you may want to look into "Trico Exact Fit Rear Blades" that fit these new special arms - you can find them online. (there may be others available too). The good news is - specialized rear arms do not automatically mean the wiper blade is difficult to change - it just means you need to get the right blade for easy (and successful) installation.

It should be in the fender wall behind or near to the reservoir. I have a 99 that needs replacing but I haven't attempted yet. Good Luck!

I have the diagnostic and repair procedure for the windshield wiper circuit. The first thing you have to do is acquire a 12 volt test lamp.

The diagnostic and repair procedure is as follows: The following steps will be done with the ignition switch in the RUN position.

1. Turn the ignition switch to RUN and turn the wiper switch to OFF. If the wiper continue to move, continue.

2. Turn the wiper switch to DELAY. If the wipers delay between wipes, turn the switch to OFF and continue to step 3. If wipers do not delay between wipes, go to step 5.

3. Disconnect WIPER/WASHER ASSEMBLY (which is on the fire wall, in the engine compartment) connector C1 (which is to the driver's side of the assembly). Connect a test lamp from C1 cavity Y to cavity Z (I believe they go in alphabetical order from top to bottom). If the test lamp lights, leave the lest lamp connected and continue to step 4. If the lamp does not light, remove the washer pump assembly and check the park relay spring (I can give you the correct procedure if it comes to that).

4. With the wiper/washer switch OFF, disconnect the wiper/washer control connector (it's the switch in the dash). If the test lamp goes out, replace the wiper switch. If the test lamp remains on, then the purple wire that runs from the switch to the assembly is shorted to ground and needs to be replaced.

5. Turn the WIPER/WASHER switch to OFF. Turn the IGNITION to OFF and back to RUN. If the wipers shut off and park correctly, continue to step 6. If the wipers do not shut off, continue to step 7.

6. Check holding switch for correct adjustment. If adjustment is required, adjust holding switch (I can give you the correct procedure if it comes to that). If adjustment is not required, replace timing circuit board assembly.

7. Check if washer override switch contacts are opened by projection on rim of ratchet gear. If the contacts are open, then the blue wire is shorted to ground and needs to be replaced. If the contacts are closed, then continue to step 8.

8. Check for loose timing circuit board attaching screw. If the screw is loose, tighten the screw and recheck washer override switch contacts. If the screw is not loose, adjust the washer override switch contacts or replace timing circuit board assembly.

There is a problem with the parking linkage. TAke it to a garage.

The wiper transmission has broken due to the linkage seizing. You need to replace the transmission......To do this you nedd to remove the top of the dash as there are 2 bolts hidden on the indise of the car to get it out

It needs to be checked out . There are many things that can go wrong.

They are all pretty much the same. There is a small tab where the end of the wiper arm attaches to the wiper blade assy. When you buy your new blade at any auto parts store the reps behind the counter will glady show you how it is done. Takes less than a minute.

sounds like the park switch in the wiper motor. (needs new wiper motor)

First, remove the windshield wipers. Then you can remove the cowel just in front of the windshield. There are a bunch of screws connecting it to the firewall. Once you remove this, close the hood. Now everything is easily accessible and the rest is intuitive.

Replace everything by using the opposite procedure.

The parking switch inside of the wiper motor is defective. Replace the wiper motor.

If I had to guess, the windshield wiper switch in the car is bad. It think it's located somewhere among the wire harnesses underneath the dash.

Actually u can with some add-on aircraft like the captain Sim 757 if u get that go to the overhead panel

Specifically I'm trying to get the wiper to make more solid contact so it wipes the window completely. I've found some forums where other people have the same issue but I haven't found a decent answer, just a lot of useless comments. I suspect a new spring might do it, although it really has never worked very well even since I bought it when it was a year old.

The windshield wiper relay is under the dash on the drivers side of the passenger compartment.

The 2011 Nissan Maxima wiper blade sizes are 28" drivers and 17" passenger side wiper blades. Do not buy by length-only however. See Sources and Related Links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments - be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.

Most likely you will need to replace the wiper motor. If you can hear the motor when you turn the wipers on, then you will need to replace the wiper transmission. The wiper transmission is a link that attaches to the motor and the wiper arm. Both are located on the firewall usually under the cowl panel. (the panel between the hood and the windshield)

There is a switch that controls where the wiper blades "park". It's inside the wiper motor assembly. In fact, most of the controls, except the switch on the steering column, are inside the wiper motor.

The problem is in the on/off/delay switch. Its very common for this to happen. If you are mechanically minded, you can fix it your self. Usually where the switch rotates and makes contact to work the delay either gets dusty and no contact is made or the plastic body breaks off inside and the inner part just rotates with the outer part and the contact is never lost, so they stay on all the time. If this is an older car, just run a toggle switch to the dash from the wire that feeds the windshield motor. This will give you on or off options, no delay. If not mechanically capable, take it to a garage and they should be able to fix it.
