Is it a new starter motor? It may be incorrect.
It probably needs very little adjustment. I think if it was my car, at the filler lid end, I would knock that end in just a bit. Use something to get on the housing or on the metal around where the plunger comes through and give it a tap or two. You could file down the end of the plunger also as long as you keep the same taper on the end.
-I tried knocking the filler lid end a little bit but didn't help. I used a little wd40 to clean out any dirt - didn't help.
This doesn't make sense to me but it seems like the spring inside the plunger has gotten stiffer or somehow the cable has gotton weaker in pulling. I came to this conclusion because:
1. If i press the release button from near drivers seat, the mechanism/plunger goes in slightly at the lid. (lets say halfway in)
2. If I press the release button while pressing the plunger halfway in, it still goes in further a little bit...

Which Renault do you have? I have a Espace 2.2 litre 1994 and had to take away the radiator and also take away the hoses for the AC (let the gas out). Make sure to put in new belts for the alternator and AC compressor when having the radiator away. Else to change the cam belt is the same as any over head cam, make sure the marks are aligned and put it back as it were.

Where is the fuel pump on a 1996 acura 2.5TL?
there is no access hole for the pump. the access hole is only the sender. you will have to drop the tank. problem is the tanks stick real hard to the underside of the body due to "tar" strips placed on upper portion of the gas tank. you can put your entire weight on the tank and it won't come down. you'll swear it's bolted somewhere, it's not. remove straps, hoses & connections to tank and pump. sender could be separate and usually is, check those connections too. you have to use a heat gun underneath rear seat cushion, be careful to not expose gun to gas fumes, and pry on tank at same time. there are 1" drain holes plugged with black plastic under cushion that i used as pry point. it's thin metal so only hold slight 5psi while prying. you will feel and hear tank "pop" loose to oneside. after that you can get other side easy. almost all acura cars have these "tar" strips on their gas tanks. hope that helps!!
