Depends on 2 things, Do they shake when you step on the brakes or are there grooves in your rotors? If you answer yes to either of those 2 questions I would say yes

After the caliper is removed, it should slide right off.

If it does not slide off because of rust or dirt. The impact of a hammer should dislodge what is holding it.

You will need: Jack, jackstands, various wrenches or socket set, new brake pads, c-clamp

I usually do one side at a time.

Jack the car up safely. Put the car on jackstands.

Take the wheel off.

Loosen the two caliper bolts.

Pull the caliper off, and remove the old pads.

Make sure you DONT let the caliper hang by the brake cable set it up behind the knuckle or get something to support it with.

Use a large C-clamp to push the piston back in.

Install the new pads on the caliper.

Put the caliper back on, tighten the bolts down.

Replace the wheel.

Move on to the other side. Repeat procedure.

Check brakes before going anywhere!

There is no simple answer to this question. It is best referred to a knowledgeable Saab technician who has the dianostic tools to narrow down the possible problems. Have it checked out as soon as possible as it could cause an accident.

The rear calipers are bolted on, depending on who rebuilt the calipers last either with torx or allen bolts.

Undo both.

The old pads and the caliper may not want to come past the rusty edge of the rotor. To get past this I have used a pry bar if the issue is not to bad or a small grinder disk on the rusty raised edges only.

Once the pads and caliper slide off the inside bad is held by a little wimpy clip system and will probably fall out as soon as the caliper clears the rotor.

The outer pad is more securely retained and will require a little force to pop out.

Screw the piston back into the caliper with the special tool you can buy at any parts or auto tool supplier.

Reinstall is reverse of removal from there.

Pull the hand brake and if it clicks more than 3 times the rear brakes are worn. The more clicks the more wear. If the master cylinder brake fluid is low they are worn. To see just how much they are worn you must remove the wheel and brake drum and inspect them.

I think the '99 is like my '98, if so the answer is yes. The rear disk has a drum style brake system inside the back side of the rotor for the parking brake. The Rotor has a small bolt that holds the Rotor on the shaft. Did you Loosen this bolt?

Yes the H22 will fit in a 1990 prelude. It is a very tight fit and requires modification. You would need a new transmission, ecu, new wiring, motor mounts, ect. Before you decide to do this swap you need to really think it through. Its very costly, difficult, and can be troublesome. And remember this is all for a 60-65 hp gain.

it can be a real pain. they get stuck good sometimes. there should be a hole in the back on the bottom. you stick a screwdriver in that hole and rotate the little gear that's inside. this is also how you adjust them. but mostly you just pound on the drum (cover) with a hammer until you knock the sucker loose.

I'm guessing that you are referring to the rear drums. The shoes should be loosened in order to clear the lip due to drum wear. There is an adjusting hole in which you would use an adjusting tool (or flat blade screwdriver) to rotate a star-wheel (gear) to back off the shoes (if the brakes get tighter, rotate the other direction). Depending on model and design, the adjusting hole may be found on the front of the drum or behind in the backing plate (look for a rubber plug).

Once the shoes are backed off, if you have only minimal rust build-up on the hub, the drum should just slide off with minimal force. Rust build-up can be broken loose with penetrating fluid and hitting the drum face (between the wheel studs) with a hammer (take care not to hit the studs). Also light tapping with a hammer on the sides of the drum near the front should help break any remaining rust free. Try to avoid hitting from the rear or side with any rear force or you may risk cracking the drum (if you are replacing it, then you can hit as hard as you want).

Are you sure that your 2001 Neon has Drum brakes? I have a 95 Neon that has 4 wheel Disc brakes meaning that there are no Drum brakes on a Neon.Just look around your rear wheels and see whether they are drum or disc,I believe there is discs on all four wheels on a Neon.
