Car Shaking Problems

Car shaking problems are usually the results of mechanical problems. Out of adjustment tires or suspension will make the car shake after reaching a certain speed. Warped brake rotors will also make the car shake when it’s slowing down.

The causes of vibration at high speeds?

Possibly could use a wheel alignment, or tire pressure on all tires the same,or it also could be your stabilizer rods need replacing and while your looking at them check your struts and springs.good luck with that.

What causes the engine to shake when idling or stopped?

A miss

or

A collapsed engine mount

or

A imbalance caused by a failing component, harmonic balancers and torque converters are common.

Why is thre a Knocking sound coming from back driver side wheel?

i would check right rear axle if it is 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive or rear wheel drive. She may also have broken belt in tire. you may check wheel bearing or lug nuts for tightness.

Why would the steering wheel of your Toyota Corolla vibrate at speeds between 60 mph and 70 mph?

If you don't rotate your tires, your belts within the tires can separate and cause a vibrating feeling in your cabin in mid to high speed driving.

AnswerIf it's a 2009 Toyota Corolla it might be an issue with the new powersteering. EPS

There are essentially 3 aspects about the tires one should watch for. 1. Alignment (toe-in, camber caster), causes wear patterns, affects handling 2. Balance (tire center of mass is off the axis), causes vibration 3. "Out of round" - that's what the regular rotation is taking care of (recommended every 5000 miles), causes vibration as well. #1 doesn't do much about vibration (to my knowledge). #2 and #3 are very similar in their effect. #2 is easily cured by balancing. #3 could be mitigated (not cured) by regular rotation (if you've never done that before), or cured by getting new tires (and don't forget to rotate those!)

AnswerMy steering wheel vibrates in that speed range when my tire pressure is too low. AnswerTire loading can also be a factor...last two sets of Continental tires developed load (roundness) related vibration because belts pulled parallel to tread and developed "flat" spots that would shake the side of the car the defective tire was locaated on.

Some other considerations**

Lets say your brakes, suspension upgrades and aligments are good. Check your steering linkages, suspension pivot and attachment points (knuckle joints, rubber bushings) make sure there isn't any play that could be from damage or wear to these components. If your steering linkage is loose from worn out bushing on the drop bar, gear box, or whatever, at hihgway speeds your spinning wheels could cause cavitation that these components cant handle and eventually fail. Get someone ( mechanis shop, suspension specialist) to look at it first. I would suggest purchasing a low priced plan for aligment services. The one i got is dependable. They should help you determine how much the cost wil be to upgrade (polyurethane bushings, new shocks) or if your components are just worn (bushings (which could be upgraded when replacing), joints). Or it could be the dreaded CV joints. Atleast they can tell you.

What could cause shaking of wheel while driving?

Tire out of balance is the most likely cause. Can also be a bent wheel.

What causes a break caliper to hit the wheel rim?

Allowing that this is the correct rim for the car:

The rim may be bent

The brake caliper may be loose or the mount broken

The wheel bearing may have failed.

The wheel may not be tight

What would cause a ticking during acceleration?

More than likely you have a tiny exhaust leak. Could also be a bad lifter but you would hear that at all ranges.

How do you know if you mess up your alignment on your car?

The safe way is to look at your tires. If they're wearing more on the inside or outside of the tire than in the center it can mean your alignment and/or your suspension is out. My old man would tell you the dangerous way, which is to let go of the steering wheel briefly and see if the car pulls to one side. The tire inspection is the best way to go. You can learn a lot from your tires! A good tire dealer will be able to tell you.

Why does a car steering wheel shake when you give it some speed?

I'm not a mechanic, but experience of the problem took me to the garage, where it was diagnosed as the Tracking being out. Also incorrectly inflated or damaged tyres can cause the problem. Hope this helps.

What might cause a increasing noise coming from the driver's front side wheel with acceleration that transmits to a vibration in steering wheel?

If the car is front wheel drive, could be worn left drive shaft/universal joint, especially if you hear cracking noise when turning tight and accelerating. You can check for broken rubber boot around the joint. If the car is 4 wheel drive, noise/vibration can come from damaged front transfer case/differential which is sometimes offset on the left side - usually caused by tight turns in 4 wheel drive on dry pavement? Steve

Could car shake because of transmission?

A car can shake because of a problem in the transmission although this usually is not the problem. I will assume it shakes while it is idling or just starting out. It can also shake due to broken motor or transmission mount(s), bad u joints, a loose harmonic balancer, an unbalanced driveshaft or problems in the rear differential.

Why is there a knocking sound coming from the drivers side when going over bumps?

I just had the same problem but on the passenger side. My mechanic replaced the sway bar and now the knock is gone.

112 dollars parts and labor. So, find a good mechanic that will look out for you in that price range.

How can you stop the rough idle on your ranger?

Check your spark plugs and wires, make sure they're good and no electrical leak or maybe vacuum leak. Bad MAF sensor- Get new one NOW !

What causes knocking around tires causing the steering wheel to jerk and feel like something is rubbing the tires when turning?

Sometimes this happens when people hit speed bumps to fast or curbs to much. what it could be is a ball joint or tie rod messed up, rim can be bent, or if you had gotten new tires and not have had them balance can cause many problems. spending the extra ten bucks on balancing tires can save thousands of dollars in gas, wear and tear.

when you drive if you let your steering wheel go will it stay straight? best thing to do is go to a place that will inspect for free but go to more than just 2 places. There are plenty of forums out there of all make and models that people go on to get help and help others share pics and what not. check those out and pick their brains about your car. maybe its something that only your car would do , special recall on a part, etc. etc.

best thing to do is look for yourself and go and touch parts to see if they are broken, falling off, rotting apart, etc. dont be too force full on them but be firm.

hopefully this helps.

Could the CV joints or bearings cause a steady speed depenent vibration in a 1994 325I?

AnswerIf water pump, thermostat and pressure cap are ok - Then proper bleeding

procedure needs to be perfomed. e:mail kennt57@hotmail.com for complete procedure.

not sure about above ;) but yes also check for dirt/mud settled unevenly on rims

What is the vibration I feel when I accelerate in my 95 ford windstar?

A vibration while accelerating in a 1995 Ford Windstar might be caused by an unbalanced tire. Another cause for a vibration might be a broken motor mount. A broken tie rod might also make the car vibrate upon acceleration.

What would cause vibration in steering wheel when you turn?

Depending on the severity of the vibration, could be a bad tire (worn on edges) creating a "wobble" on turns, or may be a bad wheel bearing (cv joint)
