Do your injectors fire?
You can check this by find the CAS on the front of your engine, it is the metallic part that has the Mitsubishi logo on it. with a 4 prong connection on the right side. (Mark with something the position of the CAS on the part it's bolted to) if you take off the 3 bolts holding it in place. you can CAREFULLY pull it out of it's socket. It will probably take a little bit of prying with a screw driver, take your time and lift it out evenly. It took me 20 minutes to get it out, but it still worked when i put it back in.
When you take it out of the fixture it will have a rod that will turn, it looks like a T. If you put your car to the "On" position, and you SLOWLY turn this rod you should be able to hear the injectors fire in the cylinder.
DONT flood your engine, you can also take out your spark plugs to air out your cylinders or just to hear the injector better. If the injectors fire, then you have fuel going to them and the CAS is working.
Replace this part back in the original position, use a little bit of wd 40 or other lube to get it back on easier. Remember the pole is keyed so it only goes on one way. Line up the marks you made earlier to put it back to the same timing, and bolt it back down.
I would replace the neutral safety switch; Buy it from the Ford dealer where they can print out the picture of it along with its location. I hope this helps you. Mark
The coils...or as Autozone or shops will call it, the "ESC (Electronic Spark Control) unit." Pretty spendy, even for a remanufactured one. I'd head to a junkyard to rip one out of a comparable vehicle, any Olds Delta 88 year 1988 (vin C) to 1991 would do. It's a rectangular, black box just in front of the alternator with three "humps" on it, quite easy to remove with a standard socket set, I might add.
On years 1992 and up, the ESC looks like a cylinder, and still serves the same function, but is a pain to jerry-rig in place and may not be totally compatible.
If a car will not start and there is no 'clicking' sound what could be wrong?
check the fuses some cars have them under the hood as well as in the car Check ignition coil or coils Check to see if battery is grounded ok Dead battery? Bad battery cable? Check and clean all battery cables.
I had problems on occasion with my first car (1979 Pontiac Firebird) having the engine flooded. (When starting, I "pumped" the gas alot, quite often "flooding the engine".) Naturally, a flooded engine is (darned near) impossible to start. But the "quick fix" I found was to hold the pedal to the floor while turning the ignition. It was eventually able to start and burn the excess gas. Note: This trick only works on carbureted models. So in nutshell: Floor it, turn the ignition. (And try not to pump the gas so much before you start it next time!!!) -Ric
Can you start your car with a bad alternator?
Yes it can as long as the battery is charged . The purpose of the alternator is to put the power used back into the battery
Do a compression test. If you have no or low compression the piston rings may have been damaged. If that is the case the engine will require rebuilding.
What do after taking the battery cables off a 2006 Buick rendezvous and then it does not start?
that is one car you must put a temporary power source when changing battery. when you pulled the power you onboard computer lost its eprom which means you tow it to a gm dealer and they download new software in you cars pc. i bet the windows dont work either.
Where is the egr valve located on a 1995 Blazer with a V6 motor?
in the 4.3l it's under the air intake leading to the throttle body . it has an electric plug clipped to it
If your Ford Bantam is not starting, you might have a dead battery or a problem with the starter. You might also have an empty gas tank or clogged fuel filter.
the new key has to be programed by the dealer
I think you've asked this before...The computer has to be reset by the dealer. Sorry bout your luck buddy. Good Luck from now on!!!
1999 ford contour that cranks but won't start no power at pump when cranking?
bad fuel pump relay or fuse
Put Key in ignition and turn it a bit.
Why would a Ford explorer sometimes quits running and wont start?
i had this problem on mine it was a simple fuse under the hood theres a black box open it find the square fuse that is half the size of a ice cube say fuel pump try change it or switch with one that you dont need at the time it worked for me
Why will a car turn over but not start?
Here are more opinions and answers from other FAQ Farmers:
Another ting to try is removing the spark plugs (make sure you re- cord which wires go where) and pro vidind that the engine isn't flooded
spray some starting fluid(avalible at auto parts stores) in the hol where the spark plug was and put the spark plugs back in and try to start it if it begins to start but then shuts off
your problem is proboly fuel delivery, but if the engine is flooded take out the plugs and let it sitt for a while to dry out.
There is a little sprocket in your strarter looks like a cog with teeth on in, but the teeth can chip or break if the metal is cheap which in most cars now days it is. So the starter is turning but the missing teeth are not connecting to make a spark keep turning it samething happened to my Buick but i didnt gte is fixed rite away because if you keep cranking evetually the teeth will catch and ignite
a motor needs fuel/ spark / air / compression all at the correct time check sources of all from major parts to minor (id start with anything electrical) you should find the problem
- One other thing that could possibly have gone bad is the main relay, its a $50 part that gives the fuel pump power when the key is on, so bad relay, no power to pump, no gas, no start.
-you need, spark, compression and a proper fuel mixture for your car to start. Generally, the compression gives way over time, so it is the last thing you should suspect if this problem appeared overnight. First thing you should try is to turn the key to the "on" position (not the crank start position). You should hear an electronic hum coming from the fuel tank. If you don't hear the hum, check the fuel pump relay or fuse. If those are fine, the fuel pump is suspect. If you do hear the hum, your fuel pump is working fine. Check for fuel pressure in the fuel line. It should look like a valve like the one you might find on a bicycle tire. If fuel sprays out, your fuel pressure is fine, which means you can suspect the spark. The battery is not the culprit (it turned the starter remember). Check for spark as noted above. If you don't get spark, check spark from the coil. Depending on the model and technology of your car, you can then suspect the ignition control module (esp. if it was a hot day) , as well as the distributor and all its components like the rotor and distributor cap.
By the way, most, if not all new cars have an inertia trip switch. Mine is under the dash. .
What does it mean when you try to crank your vehicle and it clicks?
From the subjective word 'crank' I think you have a dead battery. Not enought juice to turn the motor over...
Where is the starter solenoid on a 1997 Ford F150?
It is located in the engine compartment on the passengers side firewall.
the solenoid is located under the hood
bad solenoid...if that doesnt fix it and still smokes check cables to battery and proper grounds
Car does nothing when you turn the key?
battery is dead
Before assuming its a dead battery I have to ask if you have lights? It could be a bad battery cable connection that has come loose or corroded. If you are getting lights and the radio comes on then it could be an open safety switch as well. Try moving from Park to Neutral and try starting the car or go from Park to Neutral back into Park and try starting the car. It could also be a bad solenoid or starter.
What is the best gauge for battery jumper cables?
Thicker (smaller gauge number) is always better when you use it. It's also heavier and more expensive to purchase when you aren't using it.
What happens if you connect a starter motor backwards?
By connect a starter motor backwards I assume you mean put the negative cable where the positive cable would go and then put the positive cable to the negative connection. In that case the starter motor should run backwards. That might be a handy thing to do if you are using a starter motor to power something else such as a winch or maybe a pump.
