Unless you have a code checker with a reset switch, the easiest way to reset the light is just to remove the negative battery terminal for several minutes. That will usually do it. Also, you don't actually need a code checker to pull the codes. With the engine shut off, you can quickly turne the key back and forth twice between the OFF and RUN positions. On the third switch from off to run leave it in the run position. The engine light will flash one or more two-digit codes. For example, if the light blinks twice, then pauses, then blinks three more times that's error code 2-3. If you have fixed the problem that caused the light to come on you can take it to an Auto Zone or similar parts store and they will reset it for you. Some times it will reset if you take the negative battery cable off the battery for about 20 minutes. Hope this helps.

Check vacuum using a vacuum gauge. And while you are checking the wires and plugs you might as well do a compression test as well.

Is your ignition coil good? how old is it? how are the conditions of the wires (outside and connecting ends) Many times a spark plug wire will look fine and new until you touch it and it gives you the shock of your life. do compression test. Low compression as well as a damaged harmonic balancer can cause stutter as well.

There are pages and pages and items that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked for codes with a scan tool. After repair light can be shut off with scan tool.

After the Explorer is scanned for trouble codes to diagnose and then repair the malfunction , then the check engine light can be reset

I would be sure to check all the sensors , one is unpluged or broken off.

I have also seen this happen when an engine form a different model year is installed.

True, if the motor is from a different year the computer may need to be reprogrammed to accept the variance in sensor input

yes my check engine light was on the radio was not workin plus my odometer and fuel indicator wouldint work checked the fuses found one blown got new one and BAM all is workin grand just hope it stay that way:)

The fuel filter is attached to the fuel-pump, it comes with along fuel line with quick disconnect fittings. Remember to take the fuel pressure off before you pull the fuel lines off. I pull the fuel pump relay while the van is running, or you can try to start the van again with the relay removed. (might set a fault)

It is a 95 model so you will have to go to a shop that has an OBD 1 computer and it will tell you what is wrong with your engine. Any vehicle under the year of 1996 takes the OBD 1 computer and 96 and up takes the OBD 2 computer.

Yes of course it can. It's just a bulb like the rest. When you first start turn on the ignition without starting the engine all of the warning bulbs will light up for a few seconds. If the Check engine light isn't coming on then it is burnt out.
