Check Engine Light

I just had this happen to my Ford Taurus, what I've been told is that it is a malfunctioning PGR valve (something to do w/ exhaust). I visited an autoparts store and they had the part I needed for $120 and said it's a pretty easy install for someone who know's cars. Luckly the check engine light went off, which might have meant I had a clog that worked it's way out.

I own a 2003 dodge grand caravan. the check engine light has come on twice. The first time is was a bad fuel hose in the engine which was very expensive to fix. the second time it was the air conditioning compressor that had blown up this too was a very expensive repair, I have since gotten rid of the van 2003 dodge vans have several recalls and problems. Oh I almost forgot, the transmission went out at only 30,000 miles, even with my warranty I had to pay 1500 dollars. My advice is buy a ford or chevy.

It could be anything from not closing your gas cap tight enough to major engine problems. In my experience, it has always been some kind of sensor that has gone bad. You might want to check your oil levels. Just take it in, have it looked at and take care of it.

Bank 2 is pass side. Sensor one is pre cat, sensor two is post cat.

If you are concerned about whether the actual dash bulb works or not, when you start the vehicle, the 'check engine light' should illuminate for a few seconds then turn off. If not, possible bad dash bulb or other issues.

No, they will not even inspect it with the emissions lite on. That is the very first thing they will check.

It means the ECU has detected a problem with the emissions system. It can be minor, like a loose gas cap, or something more serious. Have the ECU scanned with an OBD2 scanner which will retrieve the code that will tell you what part is being effected. Not necessarily the defective part but what the problem is effecting. Most Auto Parts stores will perform the scan for free. Do not neglect this as it could be something that will cause other problems if not corrected.

A problem with the emissions system.

It sounds like you may have a bad mass air sensor. I just had this same problem on my daughters 94 Nissan quest. I bought a rebuilt mass air sensor for about 100 dollars and installed it myself( its easy to install)... they wanted 600dollars for the sensor alone and 80 dollars to install it at the dealer. After installing this part the car ran great again. However you may want to take the car into a shop and have them diagnos the check engine codes to make sure that is the problem. I did this first on my daughters car. It costs between 75 to 100 dollars for a shop to do a complete diagnostic test on the car....then you will know what all of the problems are.

could be several things. 1st is the car actually overheating. If so then it could be a stuck thermostat or a bad water pump. If it is not really overheating my bet would be a falty temp sensor. The temp sensor is what actually tells the light to turn on.

First off where is it? If it is in line then you can cut that section off and replace it with rubber fuel line of equal size.

There is a low oil pressure warning light. Turn the ignition key on without starting the vehicle. If you don't see the light, the bulb has burned out and needs replacing. Read your owner's manual.
