Smoke from the radiator would be do to a leak evaporating off of it. Find the leak repair or replace necessary parts.

There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.

Repair the problem and it will typically reset itself after 3 starting cycles.

Have the problem that caused the check engine light to come on repaired. They will reset the light with an OBD2 scan tool. The light will just come back on if the problem is not repaired.

It is possible that your alternator might be going out. It also could be a problem with your battery. You should have it checked by a professional or you could be stranded .

One of the control devices is malfunctioning on the engine, and it needs to go to a shop for repairs. Simple things first though. If the light just came on, check to make your gas cap is on correctly, leaving it loose will cause the check engine light to come on. The light will reset itself after awhile of normal driving. If it does not have your local autopart store or shop read the code. That is the simplist way. Does the engine sputter while driving? That is an electrical problem with the spark plugs not firing when they should or not at all. Change the wres and plugs, check timing. That is what happened to mine

The check engine light and the ETS light were both on in my 99 Cavalier and it also jerked when giving it the gas. I took it to the auto store and they hooked it up to a diagnostic machine and it was the emission sensor/switch. The test was free...the switch ran around $32.00 and once it was replaced the lights to both are no longer on.

First, when the check engine light comes on, it will ignore input data from every other module in the vehicle, including the ETS (Enhanced Traction System). this will in turn illuminate the ETS light, even though there may be nothing wrong with it. Secondly, when you say jerk, do you mean an engine misfire or do you mean a harsh engagment in the transmission. Either way, you need to have the DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) pulled from the PCM (PowerTrain Control Module). If it's a simple misfire code, then a set of SparkPlugs and Wires should do the trick, unless you have a bad coil pack or ignition module, which is also easy to replace. If it's a transmission code, it may be a faulty shift solenoid. The first thing i would do is take it to a parts store that will hook up a scan tool and pull DTC's for free. I hope I've helped...

I had the same issue, added transmission fluid and it no longer jumps when it shifts. The light is still on but I imagine it just needs to codes cleared.

Bad speed sensor.

Many auto parts retailers have loaner hardware that you can use to scan the diagnostics yourself, and it doesn't cost anything. They might charge a deposit fee to make sure you return it, but any auto parts retailer that has a tool loan program usually has a diagnostic scanner. Often, if you go when they're not busy, you can get one of them to help you.

if your talking about the service engine lite in the dash comes on service the engine take your van to your local auto zone to get it tested for free it will give you a starting point . if the van is running rough start with a tune up . if it is running fine more than likely it is a vacuum hose check all of them closely .my 1999 was running rough i replaced plugs , wires , cap , rotor and injectors only to find out it was a bad distributor good luck .p.s. to the last person to answer if you are not going to try and help don't bother typing you are the reason i stopped leaving my email on this site.

probably not, cant guaranty anything though, could cause a loss in back pressure causing the valve to stay open too long, but unlikely

On a 2007 vehicle why wouldn't you go back to the dealer? A check engine light means something is wrong with the emission control system. Your vehicle is under warranty and the dealer will fix the problem without charge. Came goes for the problem with your cruise control. With that said, many auto parts stores, like Auto Zone, have code readers that will tell you what is wrong and turn the check engine light off, usually without $ charge. Another way is to disconnect the battery for a half-hour or so. Everything will be reset, including your radio presets and the engine will run a little strange while the computer reprgeams itself.

I have a 2001 Seville Cadillac that the service Engine soon light comes on after I happen to use certain fuels. It seems that ethanol type fuels are the worst. The light will go out after I put in a higher octane fuel. Not sure this is my complete problem but it always seems to go out in time. I keep wondering if there is some type of fuel additive I could add that would make the light go out faster.

YES: It is located between the firewall and the heater box. To access, remove lower dash covering behind glove box, and pull ECU down toward floor.

There are show great things you can use. One of them is to use Fuel Infusion. It helps your engine burn fuel more efficiently. Most cars burn their fuel at 93-97% efficiency.
