How do you turn off the check engine light on a 2000 Honda Accord?
Push the odometer reset button in, hold it, turn on the key. It will flash a few times then go off.
This will reset the Maintenance Required light not the check engine light.
Disconnect the HOT side of the battery for a few seconds--then reconnect(will likely have to reset the radio stations, clock etc.)
This will require reentering radio access code and all radio stations as well. The fourth answer about removing the clock fuse is by far the easiest and quickest.
To turn off the back up light you must go to the engine compartment. Open the fuse box and remove the back up fuse for 30 seconds. That will take out the check engine light.
I have no idea what this will do, but whenever I've had the check engine light on the next answer has been the successful method on the 2000 Honda Accord.
Is this the check engine light blinking upon startup or does it stay on steadily?Pushing the odometer light is for clearing the maintanance schedule warning, this occurs when you're starting up the car that the check engine light blinks 11 times or so, then goes out.If the check engine light stays on while you put the car into motion, you have to check what triggered it, or if you believe the car is fine, then you remove the fuse from the passenger side fuse box, located under the dash next to the door hinge. When you open the passenger side door, right next to the door hinge you'll see a pannel there, pull it out, remove the fuse for the clock. Leave it out for 15 seconds then place it back.
If in doubt go to AutoZone, Strauss, Pep Boys, Advanced Auto Parts, or if you want to get screwed... go to the dealer. They will have you sitting there for 3 hours, laughing it up in the back, using your car to run and get Pizza and soda, then charge you and arm, leg and your first & second born for just removing a fuse.
This answer was the solution I found that worked. I finally found the cause of the problem after it came on for the third time. ( It came on 3 times over about a 2 year period) Changed the air filter and the problem went away. Everything I read said it would be the oxygen sensor, but it my case it was just a dirty air filter.

What is the cause for a problem check engine light to a car Toyota Trecel 1995?
The only way to find out for certain is to use an automotive code scanner that is designed for your vehicle.
hi jonny this is kyle whats up this packet is boring
Since you didn't mention the make or model of the vehicle, you will have to look at the following... A lean O2 sensor does not usually mean that the O2 sensor is bad. Since your idle is bad, you need to look at other air/fuel controls such as EGR, MAF, MAP, IA, injector nozzle and anything else that would either restrict air or fuel at idle
Check the adjustment of the brake light switch.

How can you reset the check engine light on a Honda Civic?
disconnect both battery cables and hold them together for 10 mins or go to any autoparts store and they should be able to do it for you for free unless they tell you they cant or wont inwhich case, they are just being lazy or rude!
The only sure way to shut off that light is to repair whatever made it come on in the first place. If the problem is truly fixed then the computer will shut it off by itself, or you can have it cleared by someone with a scan tool. Warning clearing the codes without making repairs will only make the light come on again. Have your trouble codes read and make the necessary repairs and all will be well.

Service engine soon on a 2004 gmc envoy?
You can try that what the other person suggested but i own a 2004 GMC Envoy and that could be a number of things mine turned out to to the cam and crank sensor take it and have it hooked to a diagnostic machine (i have one) and ask them what code it throws, it cost of course but its better knowing what the problem is instead of chasing it with different ideas. Try taking your gas cap off and putting it back on again. Otherwise wait til you need gas again. In my 2002 both cleared the problem. If those don't work, rent a code reader from your auto parts store and see what the problem is. Good luck if that don,t work, replace the gas tank cap. they cost about $22.00 .the part that makes the air seal was cracked.they charged me $78.52 parts and labor. there is a stiff plastic retaining strap holding the gas cap that will not let the cap turn easy when you get gas, this was a pain too.

Why is my 2001 Subaru Forester check engine light always on?
The check engine light (service engine soon) comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, the problem is in the emissions or something that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions, but other causes can trigger the light to come on, too. To determine the cause, the vehicle will need to be taken to AutoZone or a shop that has an OBD2 scanner, or for 1995 and earlier models, an OBD1 scanner, While a scanner will not give you the magic answer, it will give you a code that narrows down the problem area.
If the check engine light is blinking that means an engine cylinder misfire has
