Look on the edelbrock website, i have to replace floats reguarly due to lpg petrol issues on my 350 chev, 7/16th of a inch on the float and 1 inch drop. Easy to do.

That # 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 is the firing order on V-8 engines, Not a intake #. Still don't know what intake you have.

The spark plugs on a 283 are wired the same as any other sbc.

Considering you're asking this in the Chevy 305 section I'm assuming you are meaning 305ci(cubic inches) instead of cc(cubic centimetres) big difference.As for your actual question it all depends what year/make/model the engine is from and what kind of shape it's in. For the exact numbers though you're going to have to run it on a dyno.

The pads and shoes are worn out are way down. NEED REPLACED

When mine did that popping noise it was the fuel pump. But it could be a number of things. It depends on exactly what kind of popping. The Chevrolet Blazer wasn't the best of the bunch. They do really well as trucks. But the maintenance is that of a Toyota.

Hard to answer this question without more info, but check to be sure all cylinders are firing and there are no vacuum leaks. Verify the flywheel or ring gear is properly attached, and the harmonic balancer is ok.

Firing Order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Distributor rotates clockwise looking down from the top of it. Cylinder #1 is on drivers side of the engine to the front.

Top dead center (TDC) is when the number 1 piston is at the very top of it's stroke on it's power (firing) stroke. This holds true for ALL internal combustion piston engines. If you remove the driver side valve cover, the second valve from the front is the intake valve on a small block Chevy, including the 305. Slowly rotate the engine by hand. When the intake valve closes, keep turning the engine until the timing mark lines up at zero. When it does, you are at top dead center.

Could be a problem with the thermostat housing or it's gasket, could be a problem with intake manifold gaskets, could be a problem with heater hoses or the fittings that screw into the manifold.

yes you should be able to do it as long as the bolts line up witch they should the only thing that makes it a vortec is the chambers in the heads plus

the cam bearings could be worn out. in which case you probly need to change. but when you pull apart the engine, you will probly find some other problems, so you might as well just rebuild the engine. its hard to beat those old Chevy 305 engines, they go forever and they make good power done up right

if the engine has low miles then it is likely an oil pump problem and the pump should be replaced...on a high milage engine then is likely time for rebuild....you could try using heavier weight oil or adding addatives like lucus oil stabilizer to get a few more miles out of it....

Like the first person said, it sounds like cam bearings. You can try thicker oil if you don't really care about the engine, it will let it go a little longer. I highly suggest NOT using Lucas or any other oil additives. They are no good.

yes MAYBE. Most of the time, platinums are a good choice for most engines. HOWEVER, you must realize that most of them don't list their heat range, and they are not exact replacements, in terms of heat range and depth.

So, make sure that you get plugs with the same length of thread, and with a similar heat range. Platinums can really mess up your firing and performance if not correct for your engine and application, and can even *cause* detonation or other problems. A good quality set of normal plugs is often best!

All of the factory installed sending units I've seen were screwed in at the top of the block, rear rail, behind the intake manifold. If that is the style in question, there is probably a special socket made for the purpose, but a pair of channel lock pliers or vise-grips can be used to unscrew the sender and install the new one. Since the threads provide the ground connection, teflon tape or other sealant could prevent getting a good ground.

Did a motorcycle oil pan with JB that lasted at least 7 years so you can probably get away with it. Make sure you get the patch area super clean and rough it up with a file before you apply the epoxy. Let it cure completely. Check for leaks on a regular basis for a while.

if an automatic, then let it shift normally when accelerating. the number of shifts will tell you. you must make sure that you keep a constant accelloration. It dose not have to fast accel. you can check the web for the vehicle information. call the dealer and ask. check with the parts store, or check with your local transmission shop.
