Cruise control 1999 Jeep not working?

I had the similar problem with my Jeep 1999 grand Cherokee cruise control not working the gates for the interior worked fine just no cruise control, looking at the other respondence I found that the vacuum hose off the control unit was bent going to a auto parts store and bought a slight bit longer hose and is now working fine I was ready to replace the whole unit. the other thing is the upper radiator hose looks to be 1½" on both ends it is not the NAPA hose calls for #9117 and states it is same on both ends which is 1½" the correct one is from pep-boys Dayco 1-15/32" slight bit smaller and works much better and cheaper.

How do you make timing adjustments for a 235 Chevy 6 cylinder?

Just above the starter motor you'll see a window and if you look closely you'll see a thin pointer at about 10:00 pointing to the center of the hole.

Shift the tranny into neutral, set the parking brake and chock the wheels, remove the spark plugs & the entire #1 plug wire from the engine and using the fan, and turn the engine until you see a steel ball bearing (like a BB) in the flywheel line up with the pointer. Now carefully remove the distributor cap by holding it in place and gently prying the two spring clips off with your screwdriver, lift the cap away and see if the outer tip of the rotor is pointing at the same position that the #1 plug wire occupied in the distributor cap - it may well be 1/2 turn away (180 degrees); this is OK. You can either begin at step 2 or turn the engine one full revolution until the steel ball is again lined up in the window with the pointer and the rotor tip is pointing toward where #1 plug wire goes.

5.0L V8 - Can you swap it with a 5.7L or a 6.5L Diesel?

Possibly. Most small block chevy's are roughly the same size as the 6.2/6.5l diesels. With diesel's the question isn't always "does the motor fit" but more often, "does everything needed for the motor fit".

That being said I know, I've see a couple of people who have put 6.5l's in a Chevy c10... I also remember a diesel magazine recently did a spotlight on a guy who put a cummins 12 valve in a 69 c10 cheyenne... it looked AWESOME!

Can you put a 76 350 in a 96 Chevy truck?

Of course you can. If the 96 had a 350 to begin with, it would be a lot easier. Just for electrical and computer stuff. Only problem you may run into is that if you choose to keep the carb setup on the donor motor, the chances of you passing emissions are slim to none. It is, however, illegal in Canada and the USA. Both countries have environmental laws which prohibit vehicles from being retrofitted with older engines. It is legal to put a newer engine into an older vehicle, though.

What causes a 1983 VW Rabbit GTI not to start at times?

check the fuse box..specifically the ignition relay or the fuel pump circuit...ideally, when you go to start the car, and you think it won't start, disconnect a plug wire and check for spark, in other words, does it have spark(ignition power) when it isn't starting...also make sure the fuses are in all the way.... could also be the fuel pump...if it only "no-starts" when its hot, it most likely is the ignition coil... make sure you check the basics, and you can get copies of shop manual diagnostic information at the library...good luck...:)

You have a 1992 Chevy Cheyenne will only start by using starter fluid then only runs about 30 seconds HELP?

Sounds like no fuel is getting to the cumbustion chamber. Try replacing the fuel filter first as this would be the easiest and least expensive step; next if that doesn't work replace the fuel pump.

New Answer HeadlineI also had that same problem with my 1991 Chevy k1500. It turned out that the water temp sesor needed replaced. I suggest pluging in a code reader to find out the problem. For your year i belive an OB-1 reader would only cost $25 to $30.

How do you install 97 Chevy Cheyenne fuel pump?

Why isn't cruise control working for 2000 Cougar v6?

I have the exact same problem with my cougar and I know the solution. The cable that runs from the cruise control to the throttle body has probably either come off of where it should be or it has snapped in half. They are steel (I guess you could say braided) cables and mine is frayed so it's loose and it jumps off easily. I called the local Mercury dealer in town and they said that it runs about $46 but a junkyard will work just the same.

How do you release emergency brake 1997 cadillac delegance?

Answer

Once you put the car in "D" the brake will automatically release.

If the brake does not release there is an emergency release, which is a small lever attached at the top of the parking brake pedal. Pull it up and the brake should release.

What are the torque specs for valves on 1997 Chevy 350 5.7l?

Valves are not tourqued. There are no bolts on them at all. they are held in by keepers

AnswerI believe what you are asking is "how do you torque the rocker arms" on a SB Chevy. As long as it is mostly stock, and not using solid lifters, the following is the proper method for setting the torque.

Start the engine and let it warm for at least 15 minutes, then shut down the engine.

Remove the valve cover on one side (does not matter which) and restart the engine.

One valve at a time, loosen the nut holding the rocker arm down until it starts to "tick", then retighten the rocker arm slowly until the ticking stops. At this point then turn your wrench slowly 1/2 to 3/4 turn more, and your done. Move to the next rocker arm and repeat the prosses until all 4 cylinders (8 rocker arms) have been properly torqued.

When you have torqued all the rocker arms on the one side of the engine, stop the engine, clean up the oil that will have spurted all over and made a mess, replace the valve cover complete with a new gasket, and then move the other side of the engine repeating the prosses for all the rocker arms on that side.

It sounds simple, and in fact it really is. Just remember to go slowly when you are tightening the nut holding the rocker arms in place, and to check the oil when you are done. It's messy so you may want to let the engine cool after you are done and clean it up with soap and water.

I would just like to add that there are valve clips that you can buy that fit on the top side of the valve, so that a minimal amount of oil will be lost. I like this method of adjusting.
