The starter is very difficult to get to, is very heavy and unless you are used to working on cars, take it to a dealer. But if you want to have a look, it is situated at the bottom right hand side (or left hand side if you stand in front of the engine facing the car) of the engine and the only way to reach it is by laying underneath the car. Taking it out is probably one of the most difficult projects on this car.

yes, checking all the grounds is first, and even running an extra ground here and there is ok...but consider... The window relay or motors went bad, the sending unit in the tanks is no good, and you need some bulbs...:) dave

Start with the simple stuff first. Have you put in any fuel line deicer? Sometimes you can get a little water that pools in the low parts of the line and freezes when the weather gets cold. To check this possibility, use a little starting fluid next time the engine won't start and the weather is that cold. Spray some starting fluid into the air intake and see if you can get the engine to run for a few seconds on the starting fluid. If it will they you can know that the problem is related to fuel delivery. If everything runs great when the weather is a little warmer, it's probably ice in the fuel line. Good luck. Make sure the throttle plate is closing enough to allow proper choking for cold weather start.

i know you start by having them all the way one way, i believe clockwise, so all the way in. and then you run the out, counter clockwise until it runs smoothly. you count the number of turns you make with the screw and do the same to both. i have heard its about 2 times. but i don't know what is the original setting. this is what I'm trying to find out.

A locksmith may be able to remove the broke key and make a new one. Or just replace the ignition.

Try powering the stereo up with jumpers to a power source. If the stereo still won't work with direct power check to see if it might have a anti theft stereo. If no then replace the unit. If it works with jumpers then look for a break in the wire or a bad fuse. Easiest fix in this case would be to run a new wire from the fuse panel, (key on power) to the stereo. These cars are known for stereo problems, my daugher has an 1989 929 and the stereo dies for days and then works if someone turns it off by accident instead of just turning off the volume...

I get no fuel to the injectors don't hear the pump prime and if I connect power directly to the pump and get pressure to the fuel rails, no injectors are opening when I crank,,, I am getting sparks, how can I check if it is the ECU broken or the big fuel relay at the firewall?,, or is there some other problems, this engine was rebuilt by previous owner and he put the electiric in a mess, put wrong firing order(fixed that), put on new headers which was wrong and it has no oxygen sensor, (will it not run if the oxygen sensor is not hooked up? )

I will put original manifolds on and oxygen sensor soon...

can bad maf sensor ruin the ECU...? previous owner told me he thougth the maf sensor was bad....

if your talking about when your cranking the engine over with the cap off, then you have a broken distributor gear or shaft or bad camshaft gear.

If it sat for a year and you did not install a fuel stabilizer then I would suspect a fuel problem. Drain the fuel tank, change the fuel filter, and pour in at least 5 gallons of fresh fuel. Also pour in one can of Techron or Seafoam fuel fuel system cleaner. Use a starter fluid to get it going.

remove the silly clip that holds the brake pedal and brake light switch on the pushrod, try not to damage the clip. Remove the four bolts around the brakepedal pushrod hole.(inside, these are tough to get at, a 3\8 air ratchet makes it much easier). remove the two bolts that hold the master cylinder to the booster.Pull the cylinder off booster. do not remove any brake lines, there is enough flex in the lines to get the job done. remove the three hydraulic lines from the booster. You might have to pry a little to get the pushrod off the pedal. remember the wire hanger on the cylinder bolts when you put it back together. Once the pushrod is back on the brake pedal it goes together really easily

A standard measure of oil pressure is 10lbs per 1000 RPM. If you have low oil pressure, check to make sure the wire to the sender is connected and clean. I would also replace the sender with a new one as these can be faulty; buy it from your dealer and have them print out a picture of where it is located if you are not sure of it's location. This sounds like you need to change the fuse. Check the fuses located under the hood in a plastic covered box in the corner on the right. You can locate the fuse needing to be replace by examining each one to see if the little metal post is broken. These fuses are rather inexpensive and can be purchased by any parts shop i.e. Advance Auto, Pep Boys, etc.

to answer your question, no you can not replace the oil pan without pulling the engine, you might as well get you a cherry picker or a set of tripods and unbolting the engine, it isn't really that hard, a few wires, two motor mount bolts, and some bell housing bolts and it's ready to come out, you can do it all in about a day if you know what your are doing

under the knob, there should be a locking nut on the shift rod. Loosen this and the knob should just unscrew

It is true that the water pump is a pain to remove. However, I did it without removing the fan pully or the harmonic balancer. The bolts were tough enough to get out with all the extra stuff in the way, Hind sight I wish I had removed at least the fan. But when you don't have the right tool, you jimmy rig it.

I did not need to lock the flywheel, as I didn't need to remove the harmonic balancer. To get the bolt off that was just under the edge of the harmonic balancer, we used a torch to make a small notch just big enough to get a wrench in there and loosen it off.

Then Entire job took 3 hours, plus a little extra for a few beers. ALl in all the job was worth doing myself because the dealer wanted about 700.00 for labour alone. I had to pay 280cnd for the pump itself. But, where else are you going to get it.

the pump iteself can be unbolted and might be able to repair the seal. I have not tried this yet, but I am sure it is possible.

If the speedo il ok but the odometer doesn't work, take it to a speedo shop as the problem is in the speedo.

What year is the gtp, if 95 or newer yes, if gtp is in the 80's then no due to pollution restrictions today, and may have to change the computers from each vehicle. Each computer is set to specs for the engine it controls.
