How do you locate the tcm on a 2000 Dodge Caravan?

What would be the cause for fuel smell in a 2004 Grand Caravan?

A fuel smell in the cabin/passenger compartment of a Caravan or similar

Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth minivan could be due to leaking o-rings in the

fuel injector system rail; since each Fuel Injector has two o-rings, these

may have a few cracks in them and high pressure fuel can leak out while

the vehicle is running or driving. It would evaporate (maybe not) and a

wet place on the engine may be unlikely to find, so this indication may

be lost on someone popping open the hood in hopes of isolating a leak.

Another fuel coupling between the fuel rail assembly and the chassis

fuel line on some models can leak, there is one with a vacuum line

into it, and there is a controller module to regulate or sense pressure.

After replacing a failed fuel pump in the gas tank, along with its integrated

fuel stainer, and also the in-line fuel filter should be replaced then, the

pressure from the fuel pump through the fuel system may be quite a bit

higher than it had been for several years; this may help new leaks develop

under the hood, with weakening older rubber o-rings, or in some models,

the fuel injector rail (pipe connecting all injectors to main fuel line) may

have cracks and start leaking at certain running speeds where the pressure

may be higher than that of idle speed pressures.

I am not registered, so I won't likely be back here; I have a 1992 AWD Dodge SE

minivan and in colder weather, the o-rings leaked for a time, then later, I got a

fuel pump & filters replaced, and the leak was worse. Got one leak to the fuel rail

fixed to find one or two injector's o-rings are leaking. This can be costly... as the

problem does not cure any other actual wear items. The vehicle has low miles, too.

So time and rust do not let these products off easy. They are disposable too soon.

And depreciate too much. Van retailed for over $18K in 1992. now 112k mi & $1k!

How do you change spark plugs and wires on a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan?

Check new plugs for recommended gap and adjust if need be. If you have compressed air blow out the spark plug areas. If not be carefull not to knock debris into hole when the plug is out. Starting at one end of engine remove the plug lead or wire and the plug. screw in new plug and replace lead with one the same length from new leads. continue in the same manner until all plugs and leads are replaced. One at a time only and you will not have leads accidently swapped over.

How do you replace heater core on 2000 dodge caravan?

The heater core should be accessible right next to the gas pedal. No dash removal is necessary.

How do you reset AC after battery has been dead on 1998 Caravan?

If the rear wiper lights are flashing, you need to start engine, put fan on high, airflow to panel vents, full cold. Press and hold the top and bottom buttons on the left side until they all light up. It will then run a diagnostic test that will take a minute or two. If more than one light is flashing at the end, the test failed and you will need to take it in for repairs.

Why is your 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan smoke black?

it could potentially be because its old or if you dont get oil changes that is most possible

From va6yag:

Actually, it could be a few things. One cause of black smoke could be that you're "running rich"- in other words, the fuel/air mixture that is being burnt in the cylinders is not correct- there's more fuel than air. This could be caused by incorrect timing, a faulty EGR, damaged valves or your computer not mixing the fuel/air in the correct ratio. Another cause may be faulty spark plug leads, or fouled spark plugs. Your best bet is to get a tune up done on the van, along with an oil change and a radiator flush. That will eliminate the spark plugs, leads, air/fuel mixture and the timing as possible causes of the black smoke.

If that doesn't solve the issue, you could be looking at something far more serious. Get the van looked at by a competant mechanic.

How do you change the transmission fluid on a 1996 grand voyager?

Place vehicle on ramps to gain acess to underside. Set Park brake and chock rear tires to prevent rolling off ramps. Get a large pan (3-4 gallon capacity) and place under tranny. Remove MOST of pan bolts. Leave one on each corner. loosen lowest two corner bolts. Gently pry pan loose and allow fluid to drain. Remove pan and replace filter. Clean pan (PUT MAGNET BACK WHERE IT WAS IN PAN) then re install using appropriate gasket. Do not over tighten bolts as they can strip out. I believe 14-16 ft lbs torque is correct Please note this will not remove old fluid from torque converter. You must go to a shop and have it flushed for this degree of completion.

How do you tighten a serpentine belt on a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L?

I don't think there is a belt tensioner. Belt tension is adjusted at the power steering pump bracket and idler pulley assembly.

Why do gauges not work when you start 1995 Dodge Intrepid Engine starts and drive but transmission will not shift without the gauges working. Turning the key off and repeatly sometimes works.?

This seems to ba a fairly common problem for this car. I have this car and I am learning more about the problem. First, if the "Air Bag" light is on, DO NOT drive the car. Any time this light is on, you stand the chance of finding out what happens when you shift the car into low gear at highway speeds. Not fun. The car randomly shifts down into low gear which is abit unnerving. Second, although I have not been able to track down a firm answer to this problem. The most common procedure that I have found is to take the car to an "Auto Zone" where they will hook your car up to a "Diagnostic Computer" which then tells you what may be going on.

Some posts that I have read suggest replacing the main computer ($300+). While others suggest sensors and or "reprogramming" the computer. While still others suggest that simply disconnecting the battery serves some good. The lack of good "I got it" posts on the internet is either a bad sign(no fix) or the contrary(no need to go back to the computer because I fixed it. I am going to try some of these steps myself later so I do not have all the answers yet either... Hope this helps
