You may have oil on the exhaust, once this has burnt off the smoke should stop.

blowback is caused by adding fuel to fast. the filler neck is not large enuff to allow air from the tank to escape as fuel is being put in tank. remedy this by filling fuel tank slower.you can also drive onto a wooden block with wheel closest to tank filler. this tips vehicle and helps air escape

Have the jeep towed to your dealer! The jeep has a computer in it that moniters all of the individual computers for all your power options, a no bus signal means that nothing is talking to each other. The bus is the network for all the computers. This is something that the dealer can fix in a lot less time than anyone by them selfs. It may cost more than you want but if you keep working on it without knowing whats going on you will do more damage than good and it will cost way more than you want to pay. So have it towed in and tell them what you know. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There's two possible reasons why this is happening.......the most likely is the Crank Position Sensor and it's located at the back part of the top lip of the transmission. It relays the timing on the top of the flywheel to the computer. I replaced mine myself, but it is a HUGE PAIN TO GET TO.....so it's best to take it to someone to have it done. If you have time to wait for it, you can get the CPS from Quadratech for about $29. The other reason and is VERY UNLIKELY, is the mapping sensor in your dash, behind your guages... Dealerships will probably know both of these, but will charge you an arm, leg and first born to replace it. Hope this helps.....

Chevy Tahoe Heater Return Pipe Hey GMMerlin, I have a leak coming from that threaded fitting for the heater hose. Can this be fixed simply by retightening the fitting or do I need to buy a new one?

You will have to replace it...most likely when you touch it, it will break and leave the threaded part in the intake.. Its a PIA to remove the broken off portion, but you don't have to take the manifold off to do it.

Go to www.thread-saver.com for a new tool to remove the broken part.

if it breaks off you can get the threads out with a small punch and then use wet dry vac. to remove small parts in hole. you can just buy the threaded part and use hose clamp to connect after you cut off the end of hose that is crimped it has a small lock ring that will also go bad or crack not a great design by chev. do it yourself in 10 min or so

The question you ask is too involved for a proper answer. You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library.

It is a bit of a job but if you are doing this at home, I would remove the 'K-frame', this is the structure that the lower control arms are bolted to. The steering rack is bolted to this also. If you support the steering rack rack with wire, you can drop the frame quite easily. Once this is out of your way, you will have lots of room to remove trans. Disconnect battery , starter, axles at trans, remove flywheel to torque converter bolts, unplug any wiring to trans,(nuetral safety switch, reverse lights etc. Support trans with jack, remove bolts that connect engine to trans, lower tranny, make sure car is jacked up high enough to remove the trans.You may want to drain trans of any fluid. Make sure you use torque converter that comes with new tranny, also, shoud flush out cooler lines (they go to rad) and the rad. Most rebuilders use compressed air or a special aerosaol can designed for this. Any burnt tranny fluid left in system will shorten life of new trans, also chang filter in new? or used tranny. Ask a local shop what they would charge you for an install. .

Maybe on the top of the starter - follow the + battery cable it will connect to the starter relay (solenoid)

The jack in mine is located by opening the back door and on the right side there is a panel that pulls out. It is held by velcro so give it a tug. If you find a jack in there you will find it near useless as well. But you can probably get one that really works and store it in there for future use.

I believe it is integral to the alternator... i.e. if the voltage regulator dies you need to buy a new alternator

on the underside of the engine , next to the oil pan bolted to the transmission bellhousing.

Add it to the power steering pump on the front of the motor. It will be driven by a fan belt or serpentine belt and have a cap on top with a little dipstick for checking the fluid level.

Follow the gas line from the tank to the engine and it should be under the cab in the frame rail. The gas filter is inside the fuel tank as part of the fuel pump assembly. You must drop the fuel tank or lift the bed to access the top of fuel tank.
