EGR Systems

Step 1) Remove engine, trans,rear,body, and door hinges. No, seriously. I don't know what you have ( van or p/u platform), but the engines are all the same. The pump is on the driver's side lower front area of the block, driven from the fanbelt. In the van, you have to lift the engine off the driver's side motor mount slightly ( about 2 inches). I'm not sure about the pickup, but the van takes about 12 hours to do. It actually takes 30 minutes to swap the vac pump, but the rest of the time is getting to it.

A small leak in the vapor system from the tank to the engine.

The emissions system used in cars is a system which is designed to restrict the amount of pollution cars produce. Newer cars have system which prevent both Evaporative Emissions and harmful Exhaust Emissions. The Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) system prevents the escape of unburnt fuel vapor form the fuel tank, the fuel lines, and the engine. The Exhaust system uses at least one Catalytic converter, which is used to burn off gasses produced by the engine. On newer cars, both the EVAP and Exhaust are monitored by the vehicle's computer, which can alter the way the engine runs and can warn the driver of EVAP leaks.

while the engine is cold take the radiator cap off located under the hood in front of the motor. top this off with a coolant mixture of 50% coolant and 50% distilled water. do the same for the reservoir to your left. it is a white jug with a screw on cap beside the radiator. it will have a line on the jug about half way down. do not fill above this line.

It is located in the back of the motor directly below and behind where the air intake boot attaches to the aluminum intake. there are two bolts that hold it on and one electrical connection. if your check engine light is on, this may be the easiest and most likely thing to try and repair. over time, the EGR valve gets gunked up with a lot of carbon and exhaustcrap that causes a flow restriction. take the valve off and give it a good cleaning with gumout or any carb cleaner. also be sure to give the mating surface and ports a good cleaning too. hopefully this will turn the light off and save you about $200 on a bill from the mechanic. replacemment valves are cheap for most caravans ($60). I've seen them cost over $160 for some cars and trucks. Good luck

The EGR valve is located at the front of the h22a4 engine. The EGR valve is right beside of the front of the EGR valve.

the egr valve is located on the back left side of the engine. getting to it is easier from underneath the car. (up on jacks). I had the same thing on a 96 mx-6. we canged the egr boost solinoid sensor located on the air intake box

I've been to my local ford dealer and ordered the EGR Valve and asked at the same time where it's located. He provided me with a picture illustrating it. It's attached on the right side of the manifold. I will need to take off a plastic cover in order to get there. It's on the opposite side of where you put the oil after a motor oil change... it located in very bad area between the firewall and the intake manifold,actually it is on the intake manifold.if you want to reach the egr valve yo have to go under the car and take off exhaust pipe before the catalytic converter.

It is at the back of the engine up against the firewall I am 99% sure of that. Easiest way to get at it is to jack the cab up off of the truck.

Lack of power mine was clogged and would start and die lots of back pressure ,to check it i took out 2 spark plugs started it and it ran longer but you could here the back pressure coming out of the spark plug holes , you should just loosen the manifold header pipe and see if it will keep running if it does chances are exaust is plugged up

Remove it, and throttle body carbon cleaner. Make sure that the valve can be moved easily.

Not sure quite what your problem is. The bit which usually gives trouble is the egr.valve itself.This is usually replaced as an assembly,as I don't believe it is able to be refurbished.It only involves a wiring plug and two bolts to remove it.

If this is the one I am thinking of, that is vacuum operated, and on the top of what passes for an induction manifold on a Diesel engine, I don't think you can get it unless you do buy the whole unit. I suspect the reason for this is that the valve seats onto a precision machined surface that is part of the manifold. The valve and the valve seat have to be matched as a pair. Fitting a new valve to an old valve seat just wont work right, unless you have access to equipment that most Vauxhall dealers wont pay for just to replace one valve a year.

The 2001 Honda Odyssey EGR valve is located on the outside of the air cleaner housing. You will find the valve, on the back of the housing.

Dodge didn't use EGR on the Magnum engines, it wasn't necessary.

Most likely bad intake manifold gasket. When the engine is cold the engine shrinks which unseals the intake and allows a small amount of unregulated air into the engine causing it to idle rough. as the engine heats up it expands sealing the leak causing idle to improve. You should also get lean codes from the computer as the engine is running to lean. Very common problem with the DOHC engine.

Check the egr valve.

this egr valve is a PCM (powertrain control module) controled pintle at the intake manifold. there is a thin tube running from the exhaust manifold around the firewall side of the engine to the EGR module?, this isn't a vacuum/sileniod controled EGR. It is a Linear control system, the pintle allows exhaust gas to flow based on the VSS(vehicle speed sensor) IAT(?) and coolant temperature sensor.Good luck

it is right in front of the engine by the pully system....it is a squashed sphere on top
