Electric Windows

The first electric windows were introduced in 1940 as an alternative to the hand-turned windows. These car windows can be lowered and raised by pressing a switch or button. Electric windows are designed for convenience and safety.

How do you fix the drivers side front window that is off the track on a 2002 Lincoln LS?

The window is not off track. The window regulator is broken. In most cases you will have to replace the window motor and regulator as an assembly.

How do you install a window regulator for a 2002 Oldsmobile alero?

I haven't done lately, but for most GM vehicles of that time period you do this:

1-Remove interior door trim.

2-Unplug window motor.

3-Remove the two bolts or nuts (10 mm head) attaching the glass to the regulator.

4-Slide the glass about 2/3 of the way down, tip it forward, and slide it out of the door.

5-Remove the four bolts (10 mm head) holding the regulator to the door.

6-Reverse the process using the new regulator.

What happen when hz is increase?

Your question is rather vague, but what you may be asking is, "What happens in a circuit if the supply frequency is increased?"

Well, circuits have some degree of natural resistance, inductance, and capacitance, which may be modified with resistors, inductors, and capacitors. Frequency affects each of these, as follows:

  • Resistance -Resistance is inversely-proportional to a conductor's cross-sectional area. In a DC circuit, charge flow distributes itself across the full cross section of the conductor. However, with AC currents, an effect called 'skin effect' comes into play -this describes the tendency of charge carriers to move closer to the surface of the conductor, essentially reducing the effective cross-sectional area of the conductor, and increasing its resistance. We call this the 'AC resistance' of the conductor; at normal supply frequencies (50/60 Hz) this is insignificant, however it increases significantly with frequency.
  • Inductance -Inductive reactance opposes the flow of AC current, and is directly proportional to the circuit's inductance and to the frequency of the supply. So, as frequency increases, the circuit's inductive reactance increases.
  • Capacitance -Capacitive reactance opposes the flow of AC current, and is inversely proportional to the circuit's capacitance and to the frequency of the supply. So, as the frequency increases, the circuit's capacitive reactance falls.

Where do you find the fuse for windows?

There is usually a diagram in the cover of the fuse box lid (typically under the dashboard on the driver's side). You might have to consult the owner's manual, and many of these are available online.

What does the numbers mean?

Come on here! You really expect an answer? What numbers???????

How do you fix an electric window that will not go up?

if window will not go up ckeck window motor to see if it will go down if it goes down but not up the problem is in the drivers door master switch

On a 2001 Safari van. You do not have to remove the whole door panel.

Remove the handle (two torx head screws) and remove a screw by the 2"speaker on the right (phillips head). The difficult part is inserting the screws, holding the motor, from the back. I used a very fine thread that i passed through the motor and motor bracket. I pulled the screw through the hole. Took a long time. To prove the motor or the switch. Use a volt meter and see if there is voltage present at the motor. If there is and the motor wont turn. Replace it. .

Would a blown fuse cause an electric window drivers side to stop working and cause turn signals to work sporadically?

A blown fuse will cause an electric window to stop working. It will not cause turn signals to work sporadically, they will either work or they won't. Also, I am not certain, but I doubt that power windows and turn signals are on the same circuit using the same fuse, but it can be possible. The real problem with blown fuses isn't simply replacing it, but determining why it blew in the first place. Same thing applies to a sporadic turn signal. I would check all the connections and make sure the bulb has not jiggled loose. I have had that problem on an old Corsica that I had, the socket was just plain worn, and the bulb was loose all the time. Let me end my rambling by saying that checking connections, taking them apart and spraying with WD-40 and putting back together, and making sure that the wires are not getting pinched is about all a typical person can do without some serious troubleshooting.

Electric windows on a 1992 Nissan sunny don't work but the fuse is ok?

tell me about it lol, I have a 93 Nissan sunny that I have had for years very reliable. Unfortunately my windows went months ago. I have had a couple of mechanics look at it, and the general answer is that the "switch has gone what ever that means. I have been on eBay to see if I could find one, no luck so far....my car is an automatic sunny so I don't know if there is a difference between the fittings in a manual or auto. Anyway if you hear anything first please let me know what you find out and I will do the same

Is it possible to manually roll up a power window on the passenger side of a 94 Ford Thunder-bird 2 door that wont roll up?

Power Window IssuesYou may try removing the door panel to expose the power window motor. Once you have access you can push the window back up. If you need to use a block of wood or other stable object to keep the window in the up position. Try checking local junkyards for a used power window motor. It would be a lot less expensive than getting a new one installed.

P.S. While this question has been answered I would just like to tell the person who asked this question that this is one of the most pointless questions ever and I sincerely hope that they won't ask ones like this again. Thank you for your time.

actually it's not a pointless question at all. when the motor burns out the window does not move and if you don't have the time or money to immediately replace it then you need to manually get the window up so that it doesn't rain in your car.

If your 1991 Toyota Camry passenger side window does not open from the passenger side switch but opens from driver side switch are both switches on the same fuse?

Dear Sir, The problem is most likely the switch on the passenger side has gone bad. You might want to be sure that your WINDOW LOCK button is not on. It is on the driver's side control panel located on the door. i have to go for the switch as well. i like both responses, make sure the lock is "off" before replacing the switch.

Headlight problem in your 2003 Saturn view your Daytime running lamps don't' work and your passenger's side headlight is out Drivers side and highbeams work What if the DRL idicator flickers as well?

If the DRL's flicker, then go out, It's likely the BCM. My 2002 SL2 had the same issue.

On my 03 Vue, I have found that every time a low beam burns out, the good bulb and the DRl light on the dash flash repeatedly upon putting it in gear and then it will shut the good bulb off untill the bad bulb is replaced. After that they operate as normal.

How do you fix your Driver's Side automatic Window It went down but won't go back up?

There are a few different things you can try. One if the window came off track, you will need to either take apart the door interior to get inside. Be careful not to break off any of the tabs. Prior to do thing though, try to figure out what went wrong - does the motor still work, are the gears still working or have they been ripped up. If its only off the track and you can somehow get a pair of pliers down to pull up the window you might get lucky and get it started. Test it by rolling it down part way. Hope this helps a little.

How do you fix off track power window for 2001 oldsmobil intrigue?

If the glass has detached from the clips/feet/whatever-you-call-them that hold the window glass to the rest of the assembly, you can re-glue it. You will have to clean off as much of the old glue as possible, then use a glue made specifically windows and situations like this - I think it is urethane based, and should be available at auto parts stores.

Do this with the window up, and make sure you have everything in exactly the right place, operating the window to make sure. Once it is in place, leave the window up for at least a day or two to be sure the glue sets properly. A window being "off track" is often a case of the glue that bonds to the the glass simply wearing out over time and with use.
