Why are my Rear brakes smoking on my 97 Honda Accord?

Probably because you did not align the disk brake pads with the pin that comes out in the pressure plate that you have to screw in in order to replace your disk brake pads, if you llok at the back of the pad there is a long indentation where the pin of the caliper should be aligned in order for the pad to sit flat with the caliper, if you missed this pin your brake pad are definitely working crooked and probably never stop touching the disk brake.

Your 1998 Honda Accord's low beams are not working but the high beams are what could be the problem?

Low Beam ProblemBulbs very rarely blow at the same time, but still a good place to start. This is not a fuse issue as there is a fuse for the right Low/High and the left Low/High. I have had the same problem and it could be a short in the wiring, the turn signal/headlight dim switch on the column, or (I've been told) it could be a relay located in the engine compartment. Try turning your lights on, low beam. Tap one of the headlights to see if either comes on. This could be a loose wire. There are several tests and checks you could run including looking for continuity and current. I had to change out turn signal/headlight dim switch on the column myself. Super easy but nobody carries it so had to order. This just takes a bit of troubleshooting to figure out. Yes my car is a 1998 VTEC Honda accord LX and went through the same problem. You could google this as well and get a ton of things to check and do.

I'm the one that i have this problem .....I thank you for your help...J.D.

How do you check transmission fluid in 99 Audi A4 2.8?

You need to go underneath the car and remove the drain plug with a special socket. The fluid is "lifetime," therefore it really does not need to be checked.

lifetime!!???how many miles would that be???you know some drive cars 400000 miles and some do just 80000!! the lifetime, audi refers to is the warranty lifespan after purchasing a brand new one, thats it!!!not forever!!

so you will be advised to change your atf+filter every 40000 miles!!

How do you replace the alternator on a 1987 Honda Accord LX-I?

i have a cold air intake on my car (universal for a 92-00 civic cut to size) so the airbox is out, but all you do is is losen the bottom bolt to allow the alternator to pivit, then you losen the tensioner bolt to remove the belt and the alternator. unplug the clip and undo the bolt that holds the power wire and your set. if you cant get the alternator back in the bottom bracket when installing...jack up the on the right side, remove the tire if it makes it easier, align the bolt hole the best you can (use a small screwdriver to half align it it you need to) then put the bolt in and use a hammer to send it through. connect the wires, belt, and tensioner and wha-la. your done. course i did this in my driveway so a shop makes it eaiser. ive already had it out like 5 times already and check the power wire incase it breaks or if your battery light is on. mine broke up by the battery and i think that its 8 guage wire if not 6 but i used house wire cause they didnt have any wire big enough at autozone.

-Its actually not so "ha that's easy" who ever posted the above comment has obviously never changed an alternator on a late eighties Accord, there are issues specific to these cars that make it difficult to remove the unit, you can A. remove the drive shaft as the manual indicates, or B. remove an engine mount and use a floor jack to raise the engine a bit and remove the alternator via drivers side wheel well.

Is there any cheap way to rewire an 1988 Honda Accord so that the cigarette lighter works when the key is not in the ignition?

The radio and cigarette lighter are supplied by the same 15A relay-switched bus. The wire may be red/white from the fuse block and white/red after the relay, although the color code may vary over a span of model years. The relay is located behind the front console, so be prepared to perform extensive disassembly to reach it; it will be easier if both front seats are removed from the car. It is recommended that the existing wire to the cigarette lighter be left as-is, in the event that you might want to return the wiring configuration to as-built condition. Just disconnect the wire from the cigarette lighter and make sure that the end is insulated with tape or shrink tubing so that it can't inadvertently short to any grounded metal. Tap into the unswitched side of the 15A bus at the relay connector and run a new

14 AWG stranded, insulated copper wire wire to the cigarette lighter. This alternate wire to the lighter socket will still be protected by the 15A fuse that supplies power to the radio/lighter relay, so it is not necessary, or even desirable, to add another fuse in the line.

After this modification is performed, the radio should shut off when the ignition switch is off, but the cigarette lighter should be always on.

If you replace the relay with a shunt, instead of rewiring the cigarette lighter socket, both the radio and lighter socket will be on all the time. This may be convenient if one wants to listen to the radio while the ignition key is removed, but one must always be vigilant to turn the radio off before the engine is shut off and turn the radio on after the engine is started. The relay has two purposes:

  1. Keep the radio off the +12V bus during startup and shutdown to protect it from "load dump" surges.
  2. Disconnect the radio and cigarette lighter circuits when the engine is off to prevent the battery from being inadvertently drained.

When does a 2002 pathfinder timing belt need changed?

Not sure what engine you have. My pathfinder has the 3.5L engine and it has a timing chain. I've heard that the timing chain doesn't need to be replaced until the engine wears out and requires a complete rebuild.

How do you repair the retractable headlights on a 1989 Honda Accord Dx that can no longer open and close so I leave them permanently open?

First check for any thing that may be blocking them from moving then check your fuses under the hood and under the dash. Then check for power to the h-light retractor should have a constant and a switched source. Chances are that if BOTH lights aren't retracting its the switch in the steering column. Also there is retractable headlight up/down switch on the dash to the right of the steering wheel that works in tandem with the headlight control multifunction stick on the steering wheel. Lastly there is a retractable headlight control module (approx 3"x4" gray box) behind the fuse panel under the dashboard. So you have the motors, fuses, a few feet of wire, steering wheel multifunction switch, retractable headlight control switch and the retractable headlight control module. Any of which could give you a problem with your retractable headlights. Good Luck

That my friend is a matter of opinion. Personally I think Fresians are very pretty.

Where are the oxygen sensors located on a 1995 Honda Accord 2.2 L Are any special tools required for removal replacement?

One is for certain under the hood, in the exhaust manifold with a wire attached to it. You will need a special socket to replace it. I believe it is a 22 mm socket, deep well and the side is partially cut away to allow for the wiring harness that goes with it. You can take out the old one with a regular 22 mm deep well, just cut off the wiring leads as it is just anyway, unclip the one end, cut it away at the sensor end. To put the new one back on with the wire lead you need the cut away side wall of this special tool. Just a socket with a large gap in the side. Easy to do, but might be "welded" in due to corrosion. I had to rethread the hole when I was done.

How do you check the transmission fluid in 1995 Toyota Previa?

By the engine oil fill cap/engine oil dipstick. It's red... on the right hand side.

Not sure how old this thread is but yes that would be correct, I believe it has the same setup on all models and so you would have to feel under the driver's seat for a yellow lever to flip the seat back to check both oil and trans fluid.

How much can a Honda Accord tow?

How hard is it to fix a front sway bar on an '86 Accord DX that has just been disconnected on the passenger side?

If by "disconnected" you mean unbolted, and if by "fix" you mean re-bolting, then it's not hard. It should consist of an endlink, which is typically just a bolt that connects the end of the sway bar to the lower control arm. Endlink bushings should sit on either side of the sway bar and on either side of the lower control arm. If you look at the way the sway bar is connected on the driver's side, it should be easy to figure out.
