many parts are interchangable but some dont like for example 90 crx tailights will not fit on a 88 cause the 88 crx has bigger tailights while 90 has thinner. another example is the seat ralings are different but u can use the 90 seats if u swap the railing for 88 etc.

I got mine from a junk yard in curry Alabama for $200.00 complete. Granted, it needed new injectors, head gaskets, radiator hoses, and a catalytic converter. Parts for this car are dirt cheap so it only took about $100.00 to get it running. That's the cheapest price that I know of after checking the web.

I've got an 87 CRX and had the same problem. It started by just dying on the road, but would start back up. The problem got worse until eventually it just cranked over and over but did not start. I went nuts checking all the obvious...coil, distributor, fuel pump. Somebody told me on some CRX models there is a fuel cutoff valve in the event of a wreck. I don't have one on mine but you may have one bad on yours. I eventually tracked my problem down to the ignition switch. It provide power to the starter for cranking, but as soon as the key was released, it lost electrical contact. Hope some of this helps. Good luck.

If your car is a Saturn or any orther gm it could eb your bcm(body control module) it is a stupid thing gm put in their vehicles to completely control everything electronic if it fails your car can just die while running if you have power windows and locks the would start going crazy your trunk could open if if iss electric and it can make your car seem like it has a completely dead battery even if it if fully charged. if it is a Saturn the module in in the dash behind the stereo but even if you change it yourslef you have to go to the dealer to get it programed abotu $500 job

Most cars will rev up and down a little while still warming up. it is a vaccum that causes it to do this. it helps keep the engine last longer. if it still does it when the car is warmed up.....well buddy you have a problem. most likely it is your throttle position sensor. that has been the most common issue i have seen and heard of when a car is sitting at idle and revs up and down for no apparent reason. its a simple parts change and i'd be willing to bet it's the problem. If the car goes from about 800rpm to about 2500, then immediately drops back down to 800, then revs back up to around 2500 over and over again, this is called Idle Hunting. It's caused by one of two things: your throttle position sensor's screwed up, or you've got an air leak somewhere between the throttle butterfly and the head. When you've got a leak, your O2 sensor will see there's too much air in the fuel mix and add more gas to fix it; eventually your black box will think, "throttle position is x, RPM is y, RPM y can't be achieved with throttle position x" and cuts off the gas until the RPM reaches a more believable reading. The root cause is normally, contrary to popular belief, not the TPS. Oh, don't get me wrong: if you put a new TPS in the car it WILL fix the problem...but the reason it really fixes it, is that while you're installing the new TPS you will also tighten all of the screws in the intake, and that actually fixes the problem. I had an idle hunter with a leak around a fuel injector; changing all the fuel injector seals solved the problem. So...start by tightening anything that even looks intake-related. Be sure to do the bottom clamp on the U-shaped tube that carries the air from the airbox to the throttle body. About half the time this is the culprit because it's hard to get to so no one ever looks at it...but it loosens up just like any other screw on the car.

You can buy a used but working one from a used parts dealer for (very roughly) $100 or so. If you're trying to sell yours, use that as a guideline, but remember that a parts dealer will not pay you more than a small fraction of the selling price (if they'll buy it at all).

It may also be worth noting that you can buy a brand new AM/FM/CD unit for $50 or less if you shop around a little and don't care about maintaining the "original equipment" look.
